How does airbending kill someone?

If anyone saw the southern air temple episode where Aang visits the southern air temple, there were alot of dead firebenders around Monk Gyatso, I wonder how Monk Gyatso killed them all?

Truthfully I dont see how air kills with just a blast of air, I think he would have had to use like a very strong wind to break a neck or spine or something painful, He might not have killed them right away but he could have hurt them and they could have just died from pain of a broken body, because you know if he sucked you up in a tornado or just lifted you up high and dropped you, you'd probably die anyway.

Or they simply could of lifted them up highenough and droped them using an air current.
Or precise concussive gusts of wind could... I guess break necks if it were strong enough.
And we've seen aang blow around some pretty heavy junk, Im sure he could injure vulverable limbs and whatnot.

yes that would be just as cool or just controling the air pressure and crushing them although that might not work due to the fact that they were wearing metal armor

No, if the air pressure was stong enough, it could crush them to the size of a guinea pig, armor or not... Hmm... The Airbenders could make powerful assets to any army.

If they could do so much damage, why didn't they do it. Is their peaceful philoshpies worth them losing their lives, and the lives of their families. If they could do so much damage, they wouldn't all be dead. Which is sad, because judging on aangs strength, they kick butt.

Airbending has no finishing move, no real killing move, because they respected all life, even one's enemies. (We saw that first hand with Aang when he saved Zuko, even though Zuko was his enemy.) So, the only way Airbenders can win is by breaking their opponents necks or something. It's easy to see how Airbenders could get annihilated, because of the fact that they respect life, and Airbending has no finishing move...

Another possibility is vacume blades (I think Ang made one during one fight with Zuko). A vacume blade is a supertightly compacted blast of air that is razon sharp. It can cut through steel, though they are hard to make in real life. But with bending...
