Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Here are some subtle techniques the other elements might employ, Halaku. ;D

Earth: Between the iron in a person's blood, the calcium in their bones, not to mention other misc. minerals throughout the body, an Earthbender could do some nifty puppeteering or even the removal of a person's skeleton. *shudders* Bumi showed us that he is able to travel in the ground which would make for some nice stealthwork.

Air: Asphyxiation anyone? Whether it be through the pulling of air out of the lungs, or manipulating the air around the breather so that oxygen is not in sufficient quantities, an Airbender could be frighteningly lethal. In theory an Airbender could also affect the motion of air particles, thus affecting the air's temperature (speed up the particles - heat, slow them down - cold) not to mention the possibility of using air particals to bend/refract light thereby going invisible. We also know that airbenders are able to make themselves move faster, perhaps they could also do the reverse and make their opponents move slower...

Fire: Redirection of the sun's rays onto one person would give them a quick case of sunstroke and if magnified enough could make them to "spontaneously" combust. Energy manipulation (whether it be fire or lightning) could create shields and barriers like something off a sci-fi flick, and yes Iroh said that Lightning could not be controlled but there was a time when the wisdom of our world was that "if man were to fly he would have been given wings" and we of course now know that is not the case. And then there is the most under-utilized aspect of fire, its healing properties. The cauterizing of wounds, the soothing heat of tea and soup, the healing abilities of sunshine, and the fever that helps the body rid off viral infections could all be duplicated/imitated by fire bending.

So what is my favorite? I am partial to fire, mainly due to its potential and the fact that it is so under-utilized. If I were a fire-bender I would definitely work to create radically new techniques as opposed to the standard (and so unoriginal) point, blast, repeat. LOL

Copper for your thoughts? :)

I've always felt a strong connection to the water, so I'll say waterbending.

Obviously mty favorite element to bend is air hense the name Cyclone. Anyway i like air because of the mobility and speed. Also like the fac that you can jump really really high, air cushion any fall and fly with a glider but i know if powerful enough air benders can fly(shown when aang gets mad in first few episodes and furry of aang). Another thing is that i think it would be cool to be able to create and shoot huge gusts of wind. One last thing is that most people think that air benders dont have any finishing or realy damaging attacks abut they do it is just because they are nomads and belive in not harming life that they dont. they realy could shoot a blast of sharp air, create air pressure around the opponent, and suck away the air of the person. And that is why i like them so much, the awsomness of the power and the capabilities of what they can do.

I love air bending! It is the hardest to master, but so easy to do once the bending princples are achieved. Air is everywhere. I do believe that directing it can also be achieved in multiple directions and levels. A gust of wind is for a beginner air bender, but with practice, tornados of air can be generated as well as wind shears, down drafts, sucking or vacumes, etc.

funfunfun! With out earth, we can not eat, with out water we can not think, with out air we can not live! Air bendersrule - that is why they must practice benevolence and humility - otherwise an evil air bender can create more destruction than a fire bender.

Water: Water's strength may be in its adaptility. Though often there is not enough water to bend, the fact that a master of water bending can use all three forms of water shows something interesting. Water embodies both earth and air, allowing more true power.

Earth: Earth is strongly centered on the ground. It allows for strength and power. It does not, however work easily with adaptility, unless you are Terra, who isn't Avatar so whatever. Earth bending is defensive in nature, and doesn't take as much wisdom to use as other types. *dislikes Earth Bending*

Air: Air is very easy to use, but it lacks power or variety. Offense consists of blowing people of of their feet, defense consists of making sure the opponent's attacks don't get to you. Frankly, Airbending is useless!

Fire: Fire is fast, strong, and destructive. It is hard to master, hard to use, and most of all, hard to control. Fire is over aggressive. For the fire bender, the best defense is more offense. It can do quite a bit, and is powerful. But the lack of control by most of its employers ultimately makes it impossible to use responsibly. Play with fire, you get burned.

Personally, I tip my hat to the firebenders. The idea of wielding pure
energy is just such an exciting though. In real life, my body gives
off alot more heat than it should, maybe that's why I'm fond of them.
But just think, you could warm yourself up in winter, no matter where
you were. Oh how thrilling it'd be to launch a ball of concentrated
flames at your enemy and know it swinged all his arm hairs off as
it passed! And just think: how would you like to be able to draw
pure energy from the air around you, and send it screaming through
the air at your opponent? If you had time to collect enough electrons
beforehand, you could strike them dead in one move!
And the best part of all, you can do it anywhere. If you were under
water, you probably couldn't spew fire, but you could still generate
heat. Very interesting methinks....

I'm a fan of firebending. First of all, because it has a tremendous psychological effect that the other elements lack. If you want to scare the hell out of someone, and demoralize them entirely, what better than an inferno consuming everything in front of them? Heck, flamethrowers aren't particularly effective in combat, but we invented them because the sight of flames being shot everywhere and people burning had a profound impact on the enemy's will to fight.

As for the other reasons . . . just look at my sig >:3

I admire airbending. It just seems to involve such delicacy to achieve devestation, if you catch my drift? Like treating air like a solid must be pretty tricky and intricate, and to have to use such delicacy to create devastating gusts of wind? Wow... plus I love any fighting style that in an aspect uses steel or metal fans as weapons! :P

earthbending, its so cool. there's multiple things you can do with it. my favorite moves are whirlpools and tunnels. you have to do it with confidence and a cool head though. that would be alittle hard for me. i get angry alot. *i also tend to spam alot.* the sub bending for it is cool too. making sand blades would be awsome.

firebending and airbending are, imo, the best bending styles. water and earth r limited to being used only around water and earth. as demonstrated by, uuh, the episode where there is a giant metal jail in the middle of the ocean. firebending and airbending can be used anytime, anywhere.

You know what I realized? The show is about ying and yang. So...

Obvious:
Fire is opposite of water
Air is opposite of earth

Interesting to note:
Sun is opposite of moon
Day is opposite of night

Probably didn't notice:
Airbenders learned airbending originally from bison. Ever wondered how Appa flew?
Earthbenders learned earthbending from badger-moles.
Earth is opposite of air, flying creatures are opposite of subbterranean creatures, aka bison/badger-moles

Also:
Sun is original fire bender: solar flares
Moon original water bender: tides

Fire is my Element, always has been, probably always will, but...

For this show, the Fighting Styles of Water and Air are *FAR* more to my liking, more than Fire is surprisingly.

Earth has also gained high respect from me due to Toph, I *never* liked the Element until I saw her fight and stuff, she has quickly become my favorite Avatar character.

So if I had to choose an Element, it's Fire, but if I had to choose a Fighting Style, it's probably Water, if not Air. Kinda wierd honestly lol

Oooo I'm the 100th voter ^^
I couldn't pick... *snif*
I love water, it's so powerful, and so my element, but I also love the passion in fire, and that you can create it on your own. Air is everywhere, and you can do a thing I'd love to do - FLY! Unless you could bend plants, I really don't care for Earth bending... *shrugs*
