A Long Display Name Here Avatar
OOC: Oh goodness...Am I still needed here? If I screw up this post, someone tell me and I'll edit accordingly. Many apologies for lateness.

Late!

Late, late, late — but really, what else was new? Goodness, he had even been late for his birth, much to the annoyance and pain of his poor mother. Beshimi whooshed along on his pillar of earth, making tracks to the stone temple, praying to whatever deities watched over him that the carnage wasn't too bad. Obviously, carnage was inevitable, seeing it was a meeting between members of the Galgori tribe and members of The White Lotus. He just hoped it wasn't too late.

The portly man rushed along, aided by his trusty earthbending...but really, his skill wasn't in bending, it was in poisons and their antidotes. A valuable trade, considering his position in the White Lotus. Reaching the stone temple, Beshimi was surprised to see that no one was dead — yet. Something told him to be wary of one of the upper floors of the temple, but he ignored it as the echoes of Akane's shout ricocheted off the stone walls, reverberating in his ears. Akane had a very, very distinct set of vocal cords.

Poison darts at the ready, Beshimi shifted his weight into the horse stance, feet spread shoulder width apart. "Akane!" he called out, his aging voice cracking on the last syllable. He wasn't quite sure where the woman was, and he didn't want to get lost. "Akane!" he called out again, his voice stronger now, echoing through the stone-lined corridors.

Di-Jei evaded the attack by rolling backwards and jumped on his side. Then he slashed forward with his right dagger, sending an arc of fire. 'A hand-to-hand fighter who is quite dangerous. And her friend with a range weapon who can get me by surprise. Not to mention the support of their sniper up there.' He looked up at the temple and aw that the sniper had changed her location. Then he noticed that Beshimi had arrived and was calling Master Oki. "I guess it's time to shift tactcs. I can't fight in hand-to-hand combat like that." He sheathed his daggers, pulled one sword and stuck it in the ground, in front of him. Then he took a Firebending stance. The wall of fire disappeared as he did that. He began to make circles around him with his hands. his hands started to produce fire in front of him as he was making them. Then, with his left hand, he punched in the middle of the circles of fire to send them towards the enemy, his right hand still making the circles of fire.

Akane reacted immediately to the fire coming at her, dropping into a defensive stance. She breathed in deeply and quickly and shot fire from both ends of the spear, one at each group of flames, and as they merged she dissipated all the flame.

She saw Juraia rushing toward her, but also picked up a faint slicing sound coming from behind her. Again, she breathed in deeply and quickly, surrounding the bottom half of the spear in flame and throwing it harshly at Juraia, creating a large disk of fire. She turned quickly, right after releasing the disk of fire, and saw that something was curving through the air toward her. She figured it to be a knife or blade of some sort. She raised what was left of her spear and and it came in range, she swung and a loud metal on metal clang rang through the air as the knife was deflected and buried itself in the earth beside Akane.

As she turned she felt a piercing feeling on the back of her left shoulder. She turned her head, and to her horror saw a small needle petruding from her back. As she was about to scream, she heard her name being called. She knew it must have been Beshimi or some other Lotus Eater that had seen her signal.

"I am Akane, Leader of the Order of the White Lotus!" she bellowed out, in hopes of giving their location to who she hoped was a Lotus Eater.

Now she summoned all her strength, taking a slow deep breath. And as she reached her peak, she let out and scream, jumping into the air and shooting flames from her mouth, hands, and feet. It swirled around, getting bigger and bigger, sending licks of flame along the ground. The flames from her feeting keeping her in the air. She focused her attack at Juraia and the Firebender whom she was fighting. She sent a mass amount of fire at them both, almost a wave of crackling inferno. It was sure to to cause severe injury, if not kill them both. The grass beneath her had caught on fire, as did some of the trees. She spread the fire and much as possible, shooting flames in every direction. The fire grew.

She wasn't worried about Di-Jei. With any luck he would add his own strength to her attack, or at least continue on when she fell. Her clothes had started to fall apart. She felt the fire starting to burn her as well. Yet she did not falter. If anything she intensified what was likely to be her final attack. She would not be known as the Lotus Eater that had been mutilated, who had lost the pivotal battle between the Order and the Galgori. She would be known as the Lotus Eater who devastated the Galgori in her final fight. She would be known as a hero. And as these thoughts passed through her mind, her attack ended. She fell as the flames subsided, and she hit the ground harshly. Before she lost consciousness, she took what she thought would be her last breath. And with that last breath, she sent another wave of fire, almost fifteen feet tall, in all directions. It was a ripple in the lake of fire she had created. She smiled, knowing the flames would eventually consume her. The poison had just started to take effect, and she could no longer move.

Then, darkness...

No hesitation.

Coer leapt in front of Juraia, focused all of his mental energies, and moved aside as much of the gigantic wall of flame as possible.

Escaping some sort of injury and/or burning was impossible, and he'd known it from the start, but Coer's nobility and the inbred selflessness of almost all Mothguaith had pushed him there. What he managed to accomplish was probably the most talented thing he had ever done in his evolution as a firebender — all the flame that went past his body planed off at an angle and flew toward the corners of the temple, roasting the stone of the ancient building but causing little other damage.

He could redirect some of the fire that came directly toward him. That half went straight to the doorway, where the new voice calling Akane's name had come from; unfortunately, the rest hit him full-force, dissipating as it burned and blistered his skin, but blowing him back into Juraia's body. But Juraia was safe.

His last thoughts before pain rendered him unconscious, were about Taed. He really hadn't been wrong in what he did; he was trying to make peace. But at the same time, peace was impossible. The Lotus Eaters were just another example of bender supremacy... it was better for him to stay this way.

"Nooooooooooooooo![/i][/color] Taed screamed, bursting out of Akane's body and rushing toward Coer as simply a spirit again...

(Heh, we just traded pieces, my friends. Let's bring this to an ending!)

Juraia narrowed her eyes against the jet of flame surging past the two of them, spliting impossibly mere feet from Coer's body. No ammount of dodging could save a nonBender from this kind of brute force, the weakness they had always suffered under for the whole Long War... She frowned, watching the wounds acculmulate on the... No, Bender wasn't the right word... her Huntmate's body, a few cinders landing almost unotisced on her own torso, robes flapping. The Veteran caught Coer when the surge ended, laying him gently on the ground, eyes fixed on the imoblized Akane.

Any doubts she had in Coer had been burned away in that display, but Juraia was Galgori enough to not waste breath on an unconsious man in the middle of a fight. She smiled warmly, eyes gleaming before she advanced on the Lotus Eater, breathing heavy, tossing a knife at Akane's side to test whether or not she was faking it. A second blade was produced from her robes, stained black with one of her most deadly toxins.

Hokori knew of this only perfierally, aware only of a blast of flame that cast her shadow in front of her in stunning contrast. She was busy rolling and dodging the fire balls sent her way. One dodge was too slow, the strike sending her flying backwards onto her butt with a grunt, nursing a painful burn on her left shoulder. The younger twin sheathed a punch dagger, and tossed a yellow-stained vial at Di-Jei, the container of skunk-monkey oil shattering into a nasueating yellow cloud around her target. Get some time.

Anei had to duck back into the temple at Akane's pyrotechnics, clutching the blowpipe against her body. A moment's glance of Coer's unconsious body and her mother advancing on the supine Lotus Eater filled her eyes with determined anger and blooming fear, prompting her to run for the nearest stairwell, face flickering in pain each time she put weight on her bandaged foot. It didn't matter, they needed her.

It was an average day, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, the small village's streets filled with busy villagers as they walked shop to shop browsing the quality of the merchandise. Merchants trying to get everyone to buy their product claiming it was better than the rest.

" Fresh fruit! Fresh fruit! Freshest fruit in all of Naidu! " One fruit merchant said as he held up a bright red apple. It's bright red skin sparkled as if it where a precious ruby.

" Hey you there! Nirav! Come over here boy!" The fruit merchant yelled to a young man as he walked through the street. His head slowly turned to see who it was had called for his attention.

" Oh hey Bharat... Look I'm not interested in any fruit today... I just went out to get some water from the well..." The young man responded in a some what bored tone of voice.

" Oh but your mother loves apples! How about you just buy one or two for her huh?" He asked with a smile on his face.It was obviously fake, just something used to try and sell his produce to any passer byre who would give even a second of their time to him.

The young man's face was filled with disappointment. He knew that this chubby salesman would not let him go without a fight...

" Well fine... just give me two apples..." He said to him as he pulled out two small silver coins from his pocket and tossed them to him. With that being done the plump man placed two bright red apples into Nirav's hand...

" Well I guess I will see you later then Bharat..." He said as he began to walk away from the small fruit stand and make his way once again down the road. He placed the two apples into a small basket which he had been carrying as he let out a sigh... Life had become so boring in this small village... He simply did the same chores day in and day out. He didn't really mingle with many of the other villagers... Once in a while a girl would try to talk to him... and he would gladly return the favor... If they where to his taste that is. But other than that nothing really fun happend...

Kenji continued to watched the battle between his kin, and the Lotus Eaters. His face emotionless. Part of him a bit angry with himself as his shuriken from before seemed to have missed. The young galgori then decided to watch from the sidelines as Juraia, and Coer battle the master bender and the twins fighting the other bender.

Part of him feeling that he would wait to attack. That was when he heard someone yell. Kenji turned his head toward where he heard the yell. 'Seems like they have back up,' the galgori thought Kenji watching as the master bender fell. He wasn't needed hear for what was going to be happening next.

He then moved from his place behind a stone pillar going to where the new comer was at. Shuikens in hand. And with shift movement Kenji threw them aiming two at the bender's head another at the bender's chest. His other hand ready to draw out his blade when needed. He needed to make sure that his Lotus didn't get pass him.

The pack on Hay Lin's back was definitely feeling heavy. And the long sleeved Fire Nation clothing she was wearing did not make it any easier. She kept her head lowered. Though her hair was black, her eyes were a bright shade of green and if any of the Fire Nation spotted her, she'd be arrested on the spot.

Hay Lin felt her stomach growl in protest. She was so hungry! How in the world did she go this long without eating? The young earthbender sighed, heard by all around her, except herself. Her world remained unchanged, delved in silence. She had grown accustomed to living in a world of eternal quiet. But she often longed to be among the hearing, simply so she wouldn't have to put up with people feeling sorry for her.

Bright green eyes traveled up from where they had been staring as she walked and caught sight of a boy...walking just a few feet in front of her. In his hand was a basket. Now Hay Lin absolutely abhorred stealing. But she was hungry...and perhaps this person had something in that basket she could eat...it was worth a chance. She quickened her pace just a bit and when she had caught the boy, her hand went for the basket, jerking it toward her. She wasn't very subtle now was she?

The young man continued down the road, still thinking about how dull everything was now a days... He could go home and train... but he always did that... He could go out and try and get a girl to spend the day with... but he usually did that aswell... What on earth was he going to do? The bright sun beat down upon his already tanned face as he steadily walked down the dirt path... He eyed a few girls who walked along the street, who smiled and giggled as they looked at him and talked to one another. One such girl waved at him, this of course placed a smile on the young man's charming young face as he lifted his right hand and waved back at her.

But as he was waving he felt a strange tugging motion on his left hand. Maybe some one had bumped into him? Now the force was a to consistent to be just an accidental push. Nirav quickly looked over at what ever it could be that was pulling at his arm... and much to his surprise it was a young lady, her face hidden from his sight. She had managed to pull the basket out of his hands, and was now making her get away, her feet pushing of the ground as she moved forward.

This wasn't the first time some one had tried to steal his goods away from him, but it never failed to wake him up a bit. In the second that it took the girl to break the basket loose from Nirav's left hand, his already raised right hand reached for the long red pole which was tied to his back, and with a quick jerk he managed to release it from it's bindings. Then in a matter of seconds he swung the six foot long pole from his back, over his shoulder and in the way of the young lady who had taken his goods.

" You know... It's not very nice to take things without asking..." He said as he held the long pole now with two hands in front of the young lady's path.

Hay Lin's mind was shouting with victory. She had gotten what she wanted and was now making a break for it. As soon as she discovered whatever food he had in there, she would gladly find the boy and give him his basket back. Her bare feet hit the ground in almost sprint before her path become obstructed.

A long red pole stood in her path. She stared at it for a few moments, unaware that the person holding the pole was speaking to her. The earthbender whirled around, an angry expression on her face. And what right did she have to be angry? She was the one stealing. But at that moment, that simple fact was not her main concern. She simply wanted to look in the basket for something to eat.

She pointed at the pole with her free hand as if to demand he move it. She was quite tempted to send him hurtling into the sky with a well deserved earthbending move. But this was enemy territory and she was not willing to take the risk of being arrested.

Suddenly the young thief spun around and looked in Nirav's general direction... Her eye's covered by her dark black hair... But it was obvious that she was harboring some bad nasty thoughts... She simply pointed to his pole and motioned, as if telling him to move it out of her path.

This action left Nirav some what dumbfounded, and wide eyed as he stared at her in disbaleif... He wasn't about to let her just run away with his basket, and apples... Those where for his mother... No way on earth would he let her just run away with them... But why didn't she just yell at him? Or tell him to move his stick? No she made not a sound... She simply stood there, her body language screaming ' MOVE!' But she didn't say anything at all... How... Odd...

" What are you crazy? I'm not going to just let you run off with my belongings..." Nirav said in a calm and collected voice. He kept his pole down in a ready position, just in case she tried to take off yet again, and he slowly made his way over to her until he was in reach of his basket. But instead of simply reaching out and snatching the basket away from her he reached for his pocket... One again pulling out two small silver coins. He held both of them in one hand, using his thumb and index finger to pinch on to them as he showed them to the girl.

" Well I can kind of tell why you stole from me... guessing by the dirt that is on your feat, and that look on your face, you have been traveling quite some time now... So I'm also guessing that you haven't eaten in a long time... So I'll tell you what! You give me back my basket, and apples.... And I'll just BUY you some apples for you to eat.... Deal?" He asked her... But her facial expression did not change... it was still filled with that same unexplained anger... He just offered to buy her some apples of her own... But she was still mad at him? How odd...Did she not hear him?

Nirav sighed... He put his pole back into its bindings and snatched the basket away from the girl before he walked over back to Bharat's small fruit stand... to buy a new pair of apples. He did tell her he was going to buy her some apples after all... If she was really just stealing for food she wouldn't hurt him... Right?

Hay Lin's thin lips curled up into a amused smile. This boy obviously didn't understand why she wasn't responding to him. She mentally laughed at him. But her expression remained almost unchanged. Her eyes studied his lips as he spoke. She was a lip reader, though she chose not to make that fact known. It was much more fun teasing the people around her.

As this stranger came closer to her, she took a fighter's stance. She was ready to defend herself and make a run for it, if she gave away the fact that she was an earthbender. But much to her surprise, the boy made no move to attack her. Instead, he reached into his pocket and fished out two silver coins. Her shoulders began to relax as she realized what he was doing. The boy was willing to buy apples for her? No! Hay Lin wouldn't have it! She'd rather steal than accept help. She wanted to scream at him she didn't need his charity. But her hand gestures would very well go misunderstood.

Hay Lin rushed after the boy. He had taken his basket back and was already moving toward the fruit stand. She caught his arm and walked in front of him, to make sure she had his attention. Pointing to the coins and then to him, she shook her head. She didn't want his help. Even though she knew she needed it.

"Two more apple-" Was all that Nirav was able to say before he felt a tug at his arm yet again... In a matter of seconds that girl was right in front of him. He looked at her, his face once again filled with that bewildered expression. Why on earth was she stopping him? Well what ever the reason it didn't matter anymore... He had already received his new pair of apples from Bharat...

" Hey look I'm just trying to help you out..." He told her, his voice showing no signs of anger or any other hostile emotions. He examined the girl once more... This time he caught a glimpse of her her eyes... They where a beautiful shade of green... But... He had never met some one with eyes of that color... Was she really fire nation as her clothes presented her? And why wouldn't she talk to him?

Well it didn't matter... after seeing the fierce determination that was in her two emerald like eyes, Nirav had a feeling that she wouldn't simply accept his offer...

" Oh I get it... You don't want to be treated like some charity case is that it? You rather work for your food? He he I like that... Never really met a pretty girl who liked to earn their gifts... Well... How about we make a little wager emerald eyes? If you can take my basket away from me one more time then you can have the apples... and you would have had to work for it, so then everyone wins... But if you can't take it within four try's... You have to simply accept what ever help I offer you OK?" He finished with a smile on his face...

He then placed the new pair of apples into his small basket. Then he reached for his staff once again, placing the staff underneath the basket's handle, so that the pole would carry the basket now...

Hay Lin's green eyes narrowed as she watched the boy accept the two apples. If he was planning to give them to her, she wasn't going to accept them. She couldn't. Because if she did, it would mean she was weak and unable to take care of herself. And she refused to let that happen. Her face was set in a determined look. Her green eyes blinked, reflecting her quiet defiance. Her nose stuck out from her face just a little and emphasized her defiant eyes. Her mouth and thin lips were twisted into a unhappy frown.

The boy's moving lips caught her attention and she watched them. She could only pick up a few things of what he said. But he was willing to work for her food. And his smile...it seemed friendly enough. Hay Lin would go for whatever he was planning. The long red pole appeared again and she backed away, unsure if this was part of her work or if he meant to attack her. Realization dawned on her face as he stuck the basket on the pole. She understood now. If she could take the basket back, she could have the apples...But how. Hay Lin wouldn't be able to take it...could she?

Maybe if she used her earthbending. With a subtle stomp of her foot, the ground rippled beneath the boy and she hoped it would make him stumble. At least enough so he would forget to guard the basket.

Nirav watched her carefully, it seemed that she was able to understand the terms which he had laid down... Her eyes still showing that determined look in them. Well she would make her move at any given moment, and Nirav needed to be ready... His once charming smile was now gone, and a serious look had been found in its stead. H wondered if this girl had some sort of training? And if he had probably bitten off more than he could chew.

Well that didn't matter, it was a change in the daily bore which he had grown to call life. Even though he tried to keep a stern look on his face, the young fire nation citizen could not help himself. A small smirk had managed to creep onto his face as he stood there, both his hands firmly grasping the pole... If he could avoid four attempts to steal the apples he would win this little game.

Nirav noticed that the young lady had not yet gotten into a fighting stance...

"Hey are you gonna.." His sentence interrupted by a sudden shift in his footing. It was as if the ground underneath his left foot had dropped, causing him to loose his balance. The long red pole which was found in his hands carrying the basket tipped downward, and the basket began to slide down the long shaft of the staff. Nirav eyes widened as he noticed the basket was nearing then end of the pole, and in a few seconds it would fall to the ground, giving the emerald eyed girl an opportunity to snatch it up and win the game.

No way would he loose so easily. Nirav pushed off the shifting ground with his left foot and with both his arms pulled the staff upward causing the basket to slide away from the end and back to the center. But in his haste he wasn't able to see if she had made an attempt on the pole... but for now he still had the basket.

" Was that attempt number one? Well i guess that leaves three more trys..." He said, acting as if that strange earth thing had nothing to do with her... Green eyes... and a shift in the ground... Could this person be an earth bender?

Hay Lin moved toward the pole the moment she saw it tilt toward her. The basket slid down toward her and she reached for the basket. She had noticed the boy's smirk and but she was going to win this game. And food in the process. So it was necessary for her to win. The basket was mere centimeters from her hand before the pole tilted upwards again and it slid from her grasp.

Darn it... she thought with another stomp of her foot. She read his lips in an attempt to understand what he was saying. Only three more tries? What else could she do? Obviously, Hay Lin knew she'd have to use her bending to trip the boy up if she stood any chance at gaining her prize without it being given to her.

Hay Lin knew this boy had to be wondering why she hadn't utter a sound since they met. So before her second attempt began, Hay Lin stood totally erect, making sure she had eye contact with the stranger. She pointed to herself and then with the same hand, she grasped her ear lobe. She shook her head and hoped he understood that she could not hear.

The small smirk on Nirav's face was still present as the excitement from this little game continued to pump through his blood. He continued to watch the young lady for any more unsuspecting moves... but all that his eyes where rewarded with was her straightening herself out, then tugging on her ears and shaking her head in a no motion...

" Oh... So that explains it... You are deaf... I was starting to wonder why it was you haven't said a word..." Nirav's little smirk had now grown into a large grin. This girl kept getting more and more interesting... Emerald green eye's, a strange shift in the earth... and a lack of hearing... It was as if the heavens them selves sent this young lady to help banish his boredom.

" Well then... I guess you can read lips right?" He asked as he crouched down and with a fluid motion placed his staff behind him. He was in a ready stance, his empty hand out in front of him, his left side facing his opponent, and his staff at the ready as he prepared for her next move.

" Well don't expect me to just let you win this game because of your handicap... You have three moves left!" He exclaimed, the excitement in his voice obvious to all those who could hear... and for those who couldn't his facial expression screamed excitement.

Hay Lin smiled in response to the stranger's grin. So he knew now that she couldn't hear. Her eyes studied his facial expressions carefully to make sure that he didn't think of pitying her. And to her surprise, he didn't...She could read lips and she had a limited ability to speak. She could say her name and ask for other's names. But it was difficult for her.

But she would do so anyway. Just so this boy would know what her name was. Pointing to herself again, Hay Lin opened her mouth and spoke in a forced voice. The tone was rather thick and sounded as though her voice box was rarely used. "Mah nahme Hay Lin..." she said. She tried hard to talk and to make sure this stranger understood her. But if he didn't, she had a some writing utensils she could use to tell him later.

But now that the introductions were out of the way, Hay Lin could once again focus on getting that basket. She glanced around to make sure no one was watching before she stomped her foot again. This time the earth shook violently, the tremors spreading out from her foot toward the boy.

Nirav's face still wore that same devilish grin, he couldn't help but enjoy himself when it came to things like this. But he noticed that the girl was still not in a ready stance... No it looked like she was thinking about some thing.

"Mah nahme Hay Lin..." where the words that escaped her mouth. Her voice was strange but one could still tell it was a female... or at least Nirav could..

"Well it's nice to meet you Hay Lin! My name is Nirav! " He said to her, still in his ready stance. But for reasons unknown to him she was still in no recognizable stance... Maybe she had not training in combat at all? Well oh well in three moves this would all be over... He watched her carefully... then after a few seconds of tension she made a move... She simply lifted her foot and slammed it hard onto the dirt surface beneath it.

For some reason unknown to Nirav the ground began to shake violently... small rocks which laid at rest now rattling, closer and closer to him... 'This is bad...' the young man thought to himself as he watched the rocks only a few feet away from him violently shake... In a second or two that tremor thing would reach him and he would most likely loose his footing, causing him to fall to the ground... Now he wouldn't fall on the second move.

Nirav burst forward running straight at the shaking ring of earth that seemed to have originated underneath Hay Lin's foot... If what he guessed was right, the shaking ring had a hallowed out center as it expanded through out the ground, so all he needed to do was get close to her...

Once he took three explosive steps he grabbed the basket with his right hand, and placed his staff into the ground ahead of him... the vibrations from the earth passing through its metal body and into his arm. If he had a weaker grip the staff would have simply fell, but he was strong enough to hold on. With a push the staff's head dug into the ground and Nirav leaped into the air using his staff to push him closer to Hay.... Once he landed he was only a foot away from her, but the tremor had passed...

He leaped back and placed the basket once again onto the pole...

"Two turns left..." He said to her with that wild grin still on his face. It was obvious now... This girl was in fact an earth bender... oh how that excited him.

Hay Lin's lips quickly dipped downward into a frown. He had avoided another move with some very fancy foot work. Hay Lin would never admit it, but she was quite impressed. But that also meant she was going to have to do something to stop him from moving. She could easily bend some of the ground up and harden it to keep him from running away. But that wasn't going to go unnoticed. She was surprised the last set of tremors didn't set anyone off. It did shake a few of the nearby stands after all.

Her stomach growled loudly and she blushed. She just had to win those apples. And if she didn't win, she would resign and accept his gift. She took a step back and looked up at the boy. She had read his lips and he had identified himself as Nirav...at least that's what she supposed. She smiled at him and drew an the letter 'n' over her heart before flattening her hand over the same area. Then she pointed to him to show that she meant him. This was a habit; whenever she met someone new, she would make up a sign for them.

Now she needed to focus on the basket. She only had two chances left...She had to keep him from dodging her bending. Glancing around once again, Hay Lin made sure no one was watching and she raised her hand. Nirav had to know that she was an earthbender by now. So she wouldn't mind doing this move. She curled her fingers in and the earth beneath and around his feet began to soften. She knew that if he took an immediate step or if he used that pole to catapult himself up, it would sink into the soft earth and she'd act quickly.
