"Why are we still training?"[/color] Airi had asked her team several times that day, receiving the same answer: Just because we're out doesn't mean we should stop. There was always next season so they shouldn't get rusty just because they lost their match. They didn't get too bad of time slots, usually, but in one situation or another, it fit their schedule to do it really early for everyone's sake. Airi couldn't really complain; she did have her own job to work for so an earlier time didn't really mean a lot to her. Well it meant something but not something drastic.
In any case, she was happy to be training more. She substituted for Anya in that match, the match they lost. It could have been her reason they lost. Or it couldn't have been. Either way, she felt like she had to pull her own weight. It wasn't on short notice when she was asked to be their alternate, but it hadn't given her much time to learn the rules and train for it in the time they were allowed. Had that been enough time and she was simply a lost cause to play probending, or had she barely scratched the surface of what she could accomplish in the sport?
She glanced at the clock, nearing the end of their hour by fifteen minutes. Time went by quickly and her teammates went back to their daily lives while the firebender insisted on practicing until the next team showed up. With any luck, seeing as it was so early in the morning, they might have slept in or have completely forgotten their time slot! Each punch at the practice dummy seemed to make time go faster because by the time she glanced at the clock once more, it was already a half an hour after her time slot had ended!
It didn't feel like very long, but her body began to give a dull ache. She paused, her chest heaving up and down to match her heavy breath and looked up at the ceiling for a moment only to close her eyes briefly. Memory problems? It was possible; that kind of thing would make time feel like it flew by. "Just my luck," she said to herself though the words were barely audible as it was followed with panting even though the words came out of her mouth. Next time, next time she would remember. It didn't matter now as she trained to build her strength and muscle memory to technique. Even if she couldn't remember everything, at least, this time, it was muscle memory she was after.
She threw one last punch at the training dummy before kicking the air as she spun on her heel to turn around and then put her weight on the back of her heel to fall down on the padded mat. Her arms were spayed out so that she looked like a star, hoping if she was caught today for training too long that there would be any consequences. [/blockquote]
