She is probably dead..She probably was killed by ozai..He was supposed to kill Zuko but she must have said 'take me instead so zuko can live' and Ozai killed her instead

I have a strong feeling that Zuko's mother is still alive.
1) She made a point to talk to Zuko before she left
2) She was wearing a cloak, presumably for going out.
3) Azula didn't say that their mother was dead — true, "Azula always lies" (Zuko, Book 2 Chapter 7) but she wouldn't lie about something she knew would be devastating to her brother, such as the death of their mother. If Ozai had killed his wife, I doubt Azula would hesitate to rub it into Zuko's face.
4) The obvious — Ozai never answered Zuko's question about where she was. I know this might seem glaringly obvious, but I've learned that often the answers to questions are hinted at with the most obvious of clues.
5) We have no evidence pointing to her death. She left, and no one knew where she was, or wouldn't answer the question
My theory is she went into exile or something, probably for sticking up for Zuko. She couldn't take her son with her, because at that time, he was still the next in line for the throne.

I know the name of Zuko's Mother. Ursa is the name of Zuko's Mother. Not very much is known about her. It is unknown what this punishment was but Azula who who spied on the conversation claimed that Azulon was going to kill Ozai's first born son, Zuko. No one knows exactly what Ursa did but there are two main theories reguarding if what Azula said was true. It could be that Zuko's mother killed Fire Lord Azulon to protect her son from his punishment for Ozai and had to flee for her safety afterwards. This could be why Azula, after Zuko wakes up in his room, refuses to give Zuko's knife back to him, and snidely asks, "Who's going to make me? Mom?" It is unknown at the moment whether she is dead or just missing.

I agree with Katara on this one. My mom and I think that Ozai's punishment was his wife's banishment, which explains Ozai's silence when Zuko asks where she went. I don't believe that Ozai's punishment was Zuko's death, because of Azula's tendency to lie...

Well, I guese it is going to be one of those, You will never know! there is a ton of evidence that says, that she ran away, and there is evidence that she died. Hopefully, they will tell us in the future episodes along with more on Iroh's son, mostly what he looked like.
