A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

I agree, if they can not find a perfect voice match, they will most likely change Iroh's voice in the show. I don't think this will completely throw off his character, though that is a possibility, I think that there are enough talented voice actors in the world to portray the character adequately.

It is my sincere hope that they do not kill off Iroh. It would seem to me that he would make the perfect firebending teacher for Aang. I don't see how Zuko could possibly be Aang's teacher. He simply isn't that good.

For those of you have only know Mako from his work on Avatar and Samurai Jack, please take a moment to look him up on www.imdb.com and take the time to rent some of his early movies. He was truly a great actor.

they won't kill him off for many reasons.

1) he's the only other teacher possible except for Jeong Jeong unless Roku somehow taught Aang (har har)

2) he is the counter-balance of Zuko. Iroh is cool with his temper and carefree. zuko is always heated and bent on his missions

3) supposedly Mako finished Iroh's voice for Season 2 so they won't kill him off till season 3 if they do.

4) I'm sure that Nickelodeon gets a lot of Reviews especially for the character of Iroh since almost everyone can't hate him he's too level headed. Nick won't kill off a character that could give them positive reviews.

well, according to tvguide.com/detail/tv-show.aspx?episodeid=6013646&tvobjectid=194673&more=ucepisodelist the summary for the episode says, "Zuko undergoes a spiritual crisis brought on by a serious illness." so that could mean iroh will die to the illness.

answer to 1. Zuko could teach Aang, if Iroh were to make it his dieing wish. and bending cannot be performed in the spirit world.

2. if zuko does join aang and co, they could help release his anger (especially with Katara around.. not that im a Zutara fan or anything...)

3. or they kill him off in season two so they wouldn't need a new voice actor for season three. plus, he wouldn't have had to do as many episodes if it goes till the end.

4. the fans could want Zuko to join aang and co., which will only be caused by Iroh, dead or alive.

granted, all of these theories are based on Iroh being the ill person. though it could be Zuko himself. or Jin... (or wutever her name is).

plus, in Bitter Work, Iroh says, "My beloved Leuten, I will see you again." granted he was in a near-death state, but when he says it, he is under the same type of tree (in one its dead, which I think has some hidden symbolism. or it is just to give the picture a sad sorta feeling), on the same hill, as he is in "Tales of Ba Sing Se" on Leuten's B-day. so this could mean he may die in Ba Sing Se. (maybe under that tree)

Edit: ^^What are the image regulations?^^ ^^Because I've done this alot on accident ^^

Not an edit: Is it alright to post pics? I remember somehting about hotlinking pics, but I made a collage, so its not a hotlink, just so that I don't get yelled at.

Double Edit: I just realized that Leuten might be buried on that hill, because Iroh lives outside the inner wall, I think. Because he is an artisan (he is skilled with his hands at making tea!). And Iroh broke through the outer wall, so Leuten could have either died while fighting on that hill or been buried there, though I would expect them to take him back to the fire nation lands. Note: This has no point towards the topic, but I just realized it and felt like voicing it.

What episode was that scene on the top right? i dont recognize it at all.
And as for the quote he says in bitter work where was this? if u have the vague area ill look into it since i have the Episodes

Also zuko isnt a master of firebending so he couldnt teach Aang or if he did it wouldnt give him much. Zuko is learning also

EDIT: okay i ran back and i saw the flashback and found where that scene was.

The scene and quote both occur 3:20 into the first episode of bitter work. www.youtube.com/watch?v=muHikbQa9d8&mode=related&search=

and zuko may not be a master, but he has learned from one. and Katara is still learning waterbending, she's been studying it seriously for much less time than zuko, and she teaches aang waterbending. and Aang can't do crap with fire so any assistance zuko could give would be of great help. the only time aang has used fire was in "The Deserter." earthbending is the opposite of airbending, yet Aang is better at that than firebending!

Katara and Zuko were kinda the same experience level when the show started excluding the whole before this show happend and before that happened.

The two were in the state of new to it.

Zuko knows the basics and such, but remember that firebending is different than all the other bendings and that is the nature of fire itself. that difference was mentioned in the deserted.

And the reason Katara is teaching Aang is because they learned from Master Pakku only thing was we didn't see how much she trained with Master Pakku, but i have bets that it was more than just a day. i got bets on around a couple weeks

All I remember Katara doing in the show's beginning was fishing with waterbending. she couldn't aim worth a crap! zuko beat up sokka![/i][/u]

And zuko learned from Iroh, one of the top 3 known firebenders (Iroh, Ozai, and Azula)

Iroh better not die because he is my second favorite character. Toph is my first and he is my second. It is just so funny how layed back he is and somewhat blind to the world but yet not(lol i'm not making any sense am I ><?). But ya if he does I would be really sad because he is awesome. I also love how much he loves tea and he always brings it up!

Actually the scene where the kids broke the window and Iroh told them to confess, that was a new voice actor, so they have replaced Mako for now. I don't think they'll kill of Iroh just as yet, not when he's doing so well in humanizing Zuko. He's still got an important role in the story, I'm sure of it.

wrong it was a pre-record dont believe me?

www.tv.com/avatar-the-last-airbender/the-tales-of-ba-sing-se/episode/591810/summary.html?tag=ep_list;title;14

Look there and where it says cast and crew under the "stars" section it will have Mako (uncle iroh)

I do not believe that the creators could find someone to match the voice that quickly. Voicing is hard to find and even harder to get near to the previous voice actor. Look at several anime shows when voice actors are switched. There is probably a reason why the vocals are not together and thats because two voices the same way are difficult to find unless there are twins

Of course they won't kill Iroh. He is one of the greatest characters ever and the show wouldn't be the same without him. Iroh will probably live through the entire series which is good because, well, he is the best.

was the question, "Do you want Iroh to die?" Or was is it, "Will Iroh die?" I couldn't tell after reading this post that only states on your opinion on why you like mako. And I will point that Aang needs a firebending teacher. If it was Iroh, then that would make the average age of their group (assuming zuko also comes, and Iroh is about 60) about 22 years of age. Which is kind of funny because the second oldest to Iroh would be Zuko. GRanted Iroh is a wise and old, yet juvenile man, it would change the atmosphere of the group completely. But if iroh died, it would changed the way zuko acts to be in a normal atmosphere. That way when Sokka makes his sarcastic jokes, you have zuko to make a skilled insult.

I would not suggest using the term, "Of course." It could come back to haunt you. Yes, I do agree that mako is a good character, but nothing affects a TV show like emotion. A few of which are; funny, sad, happy, and mad. Here is a brief example of each. Very brief, very brief indeed.
Example of each,
Sad - A majorly loved character's death. Iroh would be the most likely, because of the love of his fans. It would bring a tear to a sexist man's eye (I'm just using a guy who intends to hide his emotions as an example).
Funny - Jokes, sarcasm, randomness, and physical comedy, commonly made by Iroh (jokes, randomness, and physical comedy), Toph (physical and randomness), Aang (physical and randomness), and Sokka (all of the above!).
Happy - Aang defeating the firelord. (not yet to come)
Mad - When Ty-lee and Mai defeated the elite team of earthbenders. I ain't saying there's something wrong with two strong girls, but I get pissed off when two characters (any gender, I don't care) can take out a score of opponents (any gender) without a scratch! Unless its Aang, because he is the avatar.

Now, as you can see, Iroh is not the only comedian in the show, but the love his fans have for him could be the death of him. There is know character whom the fans love more. Not even the Avatar! BTW, The happy and mad stuff were just added to give more than two emotions.
And please don't start saying, "I love Sokka way more than Iroh, because that has little to do with Iroh possibly dieing. Though they do sometimes kill off characters whom the viewers dislike, I.E. Zhao!

Edit: I made a few grammatical errors that I fixed and owuld like to apologize if I was offensive. Sometimes I try to word stuff so it isn't sexist, but end up making a completely non-sexist statement become prejudiced.

I sincerely hope that Iroh does not die! He is so funny, and is just starting to cut down on Zuko's arrogance! I don't think they'll kill Iroh off, not when he's doing such a good job of humbling our proud Zuko. Nope, i think they'll keep him on for a bit longer.

Heck no he won't die, not at least until the end of the show, where Zuko's already with Aang's group, and Iroh dies from fire nation crossfire, and Zuko goes nuts and owns everybody ;D
Yeah that'd make a pretty good ending... By the way, not all of us understand asian, zhu.

Off Topic: The season premiere killed all the Zutara fans. Um...yeah...that's it...SOPH 4EVZ!

This thread is useless now since we know that Iroh has been captured and that Zuko has changed his side. I think I'm going to archive this thread.... Actually I don't think, I'm doing it. THREAD ARCHIVED.
