Yes. When you change locations you should make a new thread. As a broader, overall rule, when you find yourself switching the topic in an RP (as in, changing from the plot of the RP into a new plot) you should make a new thread. In this case, since Shao and Ren have changed from "meeting" to "getting to know each other", a new thread is usually the way to go even if they weren't changing locations.
In the future though, if you have a question that is really meant for a specific person — eg: your RP partner — you should PM them on their OOC account instead of making a new thread. (:
