The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Ren’ai was done feeling sorry for herself. Yes, things had turned out well for her lately. First, she and Yutaka had broken up. She had thought he could be the one, but apparently not. Then, their Waterbender had left their team, citing her injuries, saying that she couldn’t’ do it after all. That pissed her off because Kiat had said that she would be fine. Maybe it had just been an excuse; she didn’t know. Either way, she and Yuri had both been frustrated as of late. Yes, tensions were a bit higher now, especially since that former Probender had been killed and then the Police Chief. Either way, neither one of them were the kind of people that were going to sit around feeling sorry for themselves for very long. They were done.

Ren’ai tightened her jacket around herself, knowing she would have to take it off in a bit. She had worn warmer workout clothes so that when they started training together, it would work better. She would do fine. She had to stay warm, though, because her bending was based on heat. However, the sun was bright so that would certainly help her. She looked over at Yuri, whom she knew assumed walking beside her. “I hope this works,” she told her. “I mean, it worked before. We met what’s-his-name here. If not…” She shrugged her shoulders. She wasn’t sure what else they were going to do after this. “No, it will work. We are going to find another Waterbender.”

“What about this stop?” Ren’ai said as they came across the same clearing that they had met their last two Waterbenders in. She smiled and shrugged her shoulders as she looked over at Yuri. She felt it was symbolic almost. It had worked twice for them; maybe it would again. It was a public place, where there was going to be traffic. That was why they had chosen it before. It was a great location. She took off her jacket, tossing it down on the ground a bit away so that it wouldn’t be trampled by anything Yuri threw at her, and also so she wouldn’t step on it while they trained. She liked that jacket!

Ren’ai started stretching, preparing herself. This had to work.

Yuri had been feeling a bit stressed out from everything that had been going on. Sure Ren'ai did have a habit of being a little high maintenance, and had of course been in a bad mood since Yutaka and her had broken up. Not that she had blamed her best friend for the way that she felt about the situation, well not that her own love life was full of sunshine and kisses. But oh well life was not always fun and some plans did not work out. Of course she had done her best to look on the bright side of things, not that there was much in this case. With the death of a former Probender and then the Police Chief was just terrible, and senseless violence in her opinion. Some said that once you hit rock bottom there was no where else to go but up, so yeah maybe it was time to do something about that and stop being so lame.

The Eathbender had put on a pair of loose workout pants that fit her perfectly and were long enough and a matching olive green tunic. Her short hair was pulled back to make sure that it was not going to get in the way. It would be great to be out in the sun and practice, in the hopes of finding a new Waterbender. To be honest a part of her was feeling a little disgruntled but it was up to her to be strong and to do her best. Walking next to her shorter best friend was about one of the few things that was normal these days. She smiled at the Firebender and placed her hand on her shoulder and gave it a light squeeze.

“Well we can only hope so, and besides it wouldn't be the end of the world.” She said with a light chuckle, true she was not really that funny but she still tried. “Sure here looks great, besides third times the charm.” She raised her arms and started to stretch out as well, it would not have been good to pull anything. When they were properly ready she was sure that she would have to take it easy on Ren'ai, because if anything she was feeling fired up today. “Hope your ready for a good workout.” She called out before sending a fist sized rock at her friend's chest followed by another one aimed at her right arm.

Ren’ai heard Yuri’s words, that it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it didn’t work. She liked her friend’s optimism, but she wasn’t sure if she believed it. If this didn’t work, she didn’t know what else they were going to do. In her mind, if this failed, they were done and might as well give up. The Firebender heard her next words that the third time was the charm. Yes, she had to believe that everything would work out for the best. They would find another Waterbender. All they had to do was stay positive and keep trying. If this didn’t work, then they would think of something so that they could find another Waterbender and prepare or next season. It always seemed to be next season.

Ren’ai took a deep breath as she finished stretching, telling herself to get in the zone or Yuri was going to kick her butt out here today. Yuri didn’t really give her any time to think. She had barely got into position when she heard the Earthbender say that she hoped she was ready for a good workout before sending two rocks towards her, one towards her chest and the other towards her right arm. Ren’ai moved to the left to avoid both, allowing them to harmlessly sail by. “Always,” she said with a smirk before sending a fire punch towards her torso. “I need you to keep my on my toes, after all.”

As soon as she had finished speaking, the Firebender immediately continued transferring her weight onto her right leg. Ren’ai then swung her left leg around in an arc, sending an arc of fire towards her best friend. She then immediately got back in a protective stance, ready to dodge at any moment. She knew that Yuri wouldn’t let her off easy, and she didn’t expect her to. That was why they worked so well together. They were the perfect balance, and they would find that third member.

Yuri was glad that it was a good thing that Ren'ai did not give her any lip over her choice of words, cause at times it seemed that she tried her best not to let both of them get too down on things. If anything small things like this made her happy, and at times it seemed best just to ask for small things. It was always great to train, if anything it seemed like a stable point in her life. And if anything that helped to keep her centered, and feel that no matter what happened that everything was going to be fine in the end.

The Earthbender felt her lips twitch into a little smirk as she watched the Firebender move to avoid both of the rocks that were sent her way. “I wouldn't have it any other way.” The green eyed woman responded as she quickly blocked the fire punch with a rock that she had bended from stomping on the ground. Luckily she was good at her timing knew better then to over think things when she trained, or she would have been a moment or two too late and would have been singed.

There was no time for a thought to cross her mind as she watched for clues as to what was next to come from her partner, there was no way that she was going to do a back bend to avoid what was coming and leave herself open. All she needed to do was simply step to the side quickly and smirked. She did not bother to waste words, the Earthbender quickly sent up two rocks and sent one towards Ren'ai's left knee and the second on to her right shoulder. If anything she was going to try to keep her friend on her toes. Then again it was not like they did not expect this from each other.

Ren’ai smirked as she watched in part satisfaction, part annoyance, when Yuri easily blocked both of her moves with a simple rock. Of course, she would expect nothing less and would have been sincerely shocked if her best friend had gotten singed by her simple moves. At their level, such mistakes just didn’t happen. They had been training for too long to let things like that get to them. Besides, Earthbending was very good for blocking, unlike her element which was all about attack. That’s what made these sparring matches interesting, and it was great practice for Probending.

Ren’ai’s eyes went straight for the rock headed towards her left leg. The Firebender neatly hopped to the right only to have to dive instantly to get out of the way of a second rock that Yuri had sent that she hadn’t seen; she’d been so focused on the first rock. The rock barely sailed by her. She’d gotten lucky. Rookie mistake and she wouldn’t let that happen again. She was the Captain. She was supposed to be the best, and she was going to prove that no matter what.

Ren’ai slid her left foot forward, shifting her weight before slightly bringing her right foot forward. She moved it, sending an arc of fire towards the Earthbender’s feet. She then moved her left arm in an arc, sending another arc of fire towards Yuri’s chest. Hopefully, that would keep her on her toes. Something had to, after all. “What will your pretty, Probender girlfriend say when you lose to me?” the Firebender asked, a smirk on her lips. What was a little trash talking between best friends, after all?

It was a warm day, with the sun shining brightly in the sky and Mitsuko was doing nothing but wandering around her apartment and allowing her negative thoughts to consume her. After sitting on a couch, staring out the window and daydreaming she finally forced herself to stand and her feet carried her to a now empty room. It was odd to see it now. Before it was messy but the clothes strewn throughout the room, the coins that littered the dresser, even the unmade bed was proof that it had been lived in. Everything was neatly tucked away now and the red bed sheets were no longer crumpled but now folded to perfection. Mitsuko hovered there for a moment before gaining the confidence to go inside. Her brother was gone and it was something she had to accept but with how he went missing it was easy to have hope that he would return. Her eyes flicked around the room, landing on the red coaching gear he had used when teaching people fire bending. It was quite similar to what a Probender would use and she felt a small smile spread on her face as she remembered how encouraging he had always been about her dream to become one.

Mitsuko stood, it was nice out, a perfect day for practicing bending and she wasn't going to ever get the chance to join a Probending team if she stayed cooped up in her house all the time. After pulling her hair back into a braid, she grabbed the small container that held water and wrapped it around her waist. She would probably end up in a park that had some type of water in it but it was always better to be safe rather than sorry. Making her way outside, she began walking towards an area where many benders went to practice. Mitsuko wasn't sure of why but the place almost felt spiritual, as if she had a deeper connection with the spirits when there which made her waterbending feel stronger.

It didn't take too long to arrive but even if it had, it wouldn't have mattered as Mitsuko wasn't in a hurry. In fact, today she was perfectly fine with moving slowly and appreciating the city. As soon as she had approached the area it was obvious that she wasn't the only bender who the idea of enjoying the good weather, the park was filled with people. Some with simply on a stroll, others playfully bending, and some even sparring. She quickly set up a spot and began going through a routine of different moves. She started with simple ones to warm up such as moving the water throughout the air before quickly changing her stance to more of a fighting one. From there, she practiced more advanced moves and the harder the moves became the more positive her mood grew. Mitsuko had always loved a challenge when it came to bending and so whenever she practiced like today she always attempted to push herself to try new and difficult things.

Despite her focus, a pair of two benders caught her eye. They were sparring quite intensely except both had a smile on their face and as Mitsuko lazily bended the water she couldn't help but feel as if she had seen them somewhere before. Her eyes widened as she realized why she recognized them. They were members of a Probending team and Mitsuko's excitement grew as she considered approaching them. She decided she would say something to them when they finished sparring and until then, continued to practice herself, every so often glancing over at the skilled benders.

Yuri just loved watching her best friends reaction to countering her attack, just seeing that smirk on the short Firebender's face brought her joy and made her laugh. If anything this is what she considered the perfect thing to do on her day off. And to know that Ren'ai would never forgive her if she dared to go easy it could get herself hurt for sure. Between the warm sun and moving around she could feel a few beads of sweat running down her spine. Besides it was only natural to sweat a bit while you were working out.

Her heart started to beat faster when she almost nailed her curvy friend with the second rock. Only to have it miss the target, but oh well she would have another try to get her. Oh well that is what made this all even more fun, of course she knew better then to take her eyes off of her opponent because that could cost her. And of course it was her job to try to keep her Captain on her toes.

The slender Earthbender's green eyes widened slightly in surprise realizing what Ren'ai's next move was. She jumped to the side and growled slightly, well it was not like she had money for new shoes. She barely got out of range before getting singed. She quickly brought up a rock the size of her own head to block her next attack to her chest. She rolled her eyes at the trash talk her best friend was giving her. “Nothing, cause I am going to give you a run for your money.” Yuri told her with a little feral grin, because if anything it seemed like they had come to a good rhythm in their little match.

Yuri stomped down and brought up a couple of fist sized rocks this time sending one at her best friend's chest, and the second one to her right hip. Sure she was a competitive persons but then again so was Ren'ai and that is why they both worked so well together. And if anything maybe the looser might have to cook dinner tonight, for a moment she regretted not making a couple of bento's for them to eat while they were outside.

Ren’ai watched as Yuri jumped to the side, giving a light groan as her best friend got missed. Not that she wanted to hurt her, of course, but… send her back a little bit. She heard the growl and allowed a smirk to cross her face. She enjoyed seeing Yuri riled up a bit; she was normally so composed. The s mirk fell, though, when the Earthbender brought up a rock to block her next attack. Ugh, stupid Earthbenders and their blocking… It annoyed her sometimes how easy it was for them to block. Firebending was not a blocking element – it was an attack element. Good thing that’s what she did best because she didn’t intend to let Yuri win.

Ren’ai laughed as her best friend said that she would give her a run for her money. “Go ahead, because you’ll still lose, no matter much of a fight you give me,” she said, though the smile on her face didn’t last long as the smack talked ended and the fight resumed. She saw the first attack coming towards her chest and immediately moved to the right to dodge the rock. However, the Firebender didn’t see the second attack and was immediately hit in the hip. Letting out of pain as she was sent back a couple of feet, the dark-haired young woman cursed her silently, her gold eyes flashing in annoyance.

This was the equivalent to her being sent back a section in the arena, that’s how they worked it anyway. Ren’ai was not okay with this. She was never okay with this. She sent Yuri a furious glare before taking a step forward, switching her weight to her left foot and bringing her right foot up. She brought it down in an arc. The arc of flame went straight for Yuri, but Ren’ai wasn’t done yet. She sent a fire punch to the right of her friend, and the another to the left. Dodge that, she thought to herself.

Yuri knew how much Ren'ai loved to get her worked up, but if anything she had to remind herself to keep her breathing as calm as possible and not let her own temper get the better of her. They both knew that things could fall apart easily in a match when she let her temper loose. And at times the only good thing about being an Earthbender was her ability to block the on coming attacks. Fine maybe she was a little envious of her friend's bending ability, but hey if all else failed she can crush her with a builder. For some reason it felt like they did their best when not holding back.

It angered her a bit that the dark haired girl thought that she would still loose, but there was only so much time to talk. She was glad that the smile did not last long on her friend's face, it had made her frown when the Firebender had dodged her first attack. But with her second one there was the sweetest warmth spreading in her chest, but it was cooled down with concern that she might have put too much force into it and had hurt her more then she meant to during their training. Because if need be one of them would have tapped out and they would stop. They would never harm each other too much, if anything they wanted to keep on par with others. But at least it seemed like the golden eyed girl was still ready to go.

If anything Yuri knew that by doing that she would have sent to opponent back a section and that was good. When she saw the glare that was aimed at her she blew a kiss, because she knew to fan the flames so that Ren'ai would mess up because at times she was such a hot head. She saw the arc of flame that was coming straight for her and she dodged tot he left only to know that she had been duped and she hissed at the heat singed her skin. Her green eyes flashed with anger, because when they got into it like this it was not over until one of them quit or was not able to go on.

Yuri stomped down and brought up a rock the size of her fist and sent it to her friend's right leg, and a quick small one at her left ankle. If anything she wanted to make sure to make her captain knew that she could be as stubborn when it came to things.

Ren’ai was furious when Yuri sent a kiss her way when she’d gotten knocked back a section. Really? What cockiness! She’d show her. She was torn between being pleased and being worried that she may have hurt her. That was never part of the plan while they were training; it was to train, not injure each other. However, that happened sometimes and it was unavoidable. After all, if you hit one of your team during practice than you could hit an opponent during a match. Injury, though, was not what you wanted to do to your teammates, so it was a delicate balance.

Ren’ai saw the attacks that Yuri sent towards her and jumped over them. The two boulders sailed underneath her. As she landed, she felt a slight pain run through her hip where Yuri’s boulder had her not too long ago. The Firebender knew her body well enough to know It wasn’t serious, but considering the fact that she had singed her friend’s arm she thought maybe she should stop. The dark-haired young woman held her hands, calling a time out. “I think we’re done for now,” she said, giving a light chuckle.

Ren’ai moved her leg up and then extended it out in front of her before moving it back down. “You got me good,” she said, a smile on her face before she put wait back down on it. She moved a few steps towards her friend. “Did I get you too badly?” She would hate to have to rush her to the nearest healer, but she would have if she had to – not to mention that she’d feel extremely guilty. “Hopefully that was enough to get a Waterbender’s attention for the team,” she said. She would love to get fully into training again, with a full team, but there was no guarantee it would happen.

Mitsuko had long stopped bending herself, she was far too entranced by the obviously skilled benders that were sparring. Her eyes followed the movements of the two and she glanced quickly back and forth as attacks were shot out. She would have been worried that they would catch her staring but by the intense look in their eyes, Mitsuko got the feeling they weren't paying attention to anything else except each other. To her, it was like seeing her dream being manifested before her very eyes because she saw they were missing one person: a Waterbender. She was a waterbender and skilled enough to hold her own and as different ideas swarmed her thoughts she let out a small breath. This was her chance, maybe her only one for a long time. Mitsuko was young but her entire life she had worked to make up for what she lacked in age with the skill of her attacks. She wasn't going to waste this chance, at least, she hoped she wouldn't.

Putting a smile on her face, she strolled forward as her stomach flipped in a mixture of nerves and excitement. "Sorry to interrupt but you two are amazing! I couldn't help but watch and I realized I recognized both of you. You're from a Probending team, aren't you?" Noticing she hadn't yet introduced herself, her eyes widened slightly, "Oh! And I'm Mitsuko, a Waterbender. I've been following the sport for what feels like forever."

Not long after Ren’ai had finished speaking, she heard another voice speaking to them – and it was not Yuri. The girl speaking to them, obviously a fan of Probending, was only a couple of years younger than they were. She seemed nice enough, and said she was a fan – though she didn’t say that she was a fan of their team specifically. That was fine, because at this point, she didn’t really care. They needed a Waterbender. Here was one, who just happened to show up right when they needed her. This was what had happened before, and he hadn’t lasted more than a season. However, Ren’ai was unsure what to do at this point. They had no other options.

Ren’ai turned to the girl as she spoke. “Thank you,” she said in response. It was true, but at least they were being appreciated for all their hard work. “It’s nice to meet you, Mitsuko. I’m Ren’ai, and this is Yuri. We are from a Probending team, actually – the Dragon Hawks. You might have heard of us.” She waved her hand, as if trying to say that it’s no big deal. They had made the Quarter-Finals a couple of seasons ago, so it was possible that she had heard of them.

“I was huge fan, too, that’s why I got into Probending,” Ren’ai said, “and I’m sure Yuri would tell you the same.” She shared a glance with the Earthbender. “As it happens, though, we’ve had some bad luck with Waterbenders. Our original Waterbender and I didn’t get along.” She wasn’t a nice person all the time, but that was true enough. “Our second one just… didn’t work out.” They had never really been sure what happened. “Our most recent one had an injury that she couldn’t handle, so here we are.” She looked at her nails, trying to look a bit bored before looking back at up at Mitsuko. “You wouldn’t happen to know anyone interested in a little try out would you?”

Yuri was glad that it seemed that she had gotten under Ren'ai's skin by being good at what she does. At least she knew that her best friend could handle what she could dish out. Although it did seem at times that both of them could go just a little tad too far, but never to hard on each other. If anything she did need to work on that a bit, but oh well no one was perfect. A part of her was disappointed that her golden eyed friend had jumped over her next attack.

Oh well things like that happened, and it was nice to know that at least she was being kept on her toes. A part of her was sad when her friend called time out for the day, and another part of her was a little glad. “Sorry I got a little carried away, I will make it up to you tonight. Not too bad, just lost some hair on my arm.” She joked with a smile, because these things happened or at least with them. If anything she was afraid that they would have scared away anyone that was watching them, because if you did not know them then you might have thought that you both wanted a piece of each other.

A part of the green eyed girl was shocked when they were approached by a female Waterbender. She was glad that her hair was still tied up so that she could see clearly. The Earthbender smiled at the new comer who had said her name was Mitsuko. Her name sounded pretty, and at least Ren'ai knew her so well that she could talk for the two of them. “Hi Mitsuko.” She said, and thought that it was great that this younger girl was a fan of the sport which was for sure a plus.

The Dragon Hawks, of course Mitsuko had heard of them and she was still in disbelief that she was even speaking with the two of them. Not to mention that Ren'ai had asked her if there was anyone interested in doing a try out. It didn't feel real. Mitsuko had always dreamed of this moment, always wondered if she would ever achieve the one thing she had been working so hard to accomplish. Ever since she was a little girl, this had been something she was working towards. While her parents had never been that supportive of it, claiming that is was unsophisticated and a disappointment to traditional bending, her brother had only ever pushed her to succeed. From hours every single day in a gym to staying up late into the night just to practice with the power of the moon, Mitsuko would have given up nearly anything for this chance. Now it was staring her in the face, the try out that could change her life, and she didn't know whether to scream or cry in excitement.

Neither would have made a relatively good impression, so settling on a large smile seemed like a better idea. Willing herself to stay calm she glanced between the two as she spoke. "It's nice to meet you both and um I would love to try out, if that would be okay?"

Mitsuko wasn't really sure what a try out entailed and what all would be asked of her, but in the current moment, she didn't care. She knew it would be difficult and she had watched the two spar, they were skilled. She had doubted her own skills in the past and there were many times she still did, but she was determined to make it on a team and doubt or not, she was going to do it. There would always be waterbenders more skilled than her but there would always be waterbenders less skilled as well, and she wasn't going to allow her own self-doubt to make her back down and not even try. Not this time, not when something that was so important to her was the possible outcome.

Ren’ai thought this was all a bit too fortuitous, but she was not about to turn down a perfectly good opportunity when it dropped right in their laps. Waterbenders seem to be few and far between for them. Mitsuko gave them a large smile and said that it was nice to meet them and she would love to try out if that was okay. Of course, it was, Ren’ai wanted to scream! She was going to be calm, though. “Of course,” she said. “We just need to test your skills, see if you’re a good fit. You understand, of course?” She was trying not to be happy because there was no guarantee this would work out. However, she was not about to turn down a perfectly good opportunity when it came along.

Ren’ai shared a look with Yuri, knowing that her best friend was probably feeling the same way. “Don’t worry, we’ll start out slow,” she said. “This is just a little practice test, is all.” If she could handle it and reacted well, showed promise, then this would work out and they would finally a Waterbender for next season. Maybe it won’t always be next season, the Firebender thought to herself. First things first, though – it was time to test her skills, and see what she had. “Don’t hold back.” She motioned for both Mitsuko and Yuri to spread out a bit. She turned a walked a bit away from them, making sure that they were in a triangle formation to make it easier and fairer.

Ren’ai got into position and waited for both of the other girls to do the same. She took a deep breath, making sure they were both prepared. She turned her body slightly towards Yuri, sending a fireball towards her chest. She quickly turned towards Mitsuko and did the same. It was easy, and Yuri would dodge it quickly. Mitsuko should, too – if she was saying she wanted to try out for a Probending team, surely she had enough skill. They could work up to other things, of course, but she did promise she’d start out slow. Besides, she and Yuri could use the break after the last match. At least her hip wasn’t hurting her anymore from that hit from Yuri!

Now, let’s see what this girl was made of….

Yuri smiled back at Mitsuko if anything she was trying her best to be encouraging with this girl that had wanted to try out for their team. Sometimes it was hard for her to open up to new people, and right now she was trying her best not to get too excited. Because it seemed like fate was smiling down on them by sending them a Waterbender. Well it was not like either of them was going to turn down such a gift.

“Of course.” The green eyed girl said softly with a smile. If anything she was the calm one, and would do her best to let this new girl know that she was welcome and wanted in their team. Ren'ai as always knew what was the right move to make, and of course she was ready to soften her best friends words to not scare off their hopefully newest member. She gave the black-haired girl a slight nod of her head, knowing that she understood small gestures like that as she got into place.

A light smirk touched her lips as her Captain sent such a weak attack at her, it was like them playing as kids. She easily dodged it by stepping right and sending a fist sized rock at their shoulders. It was such an easy one for both of the other girls to sidestep that one, because both of them wanted to keep this easy. She glanced at both of her sparing partners ready for what was going to happen next. If anything this warmed her heart because this was almost like having another sister that you were trying to help. And this feeling made her happy. And she was trying her best not to get her hopes up too much, because if anything this seemed too good to be true.

"Don't worry, I won't." Mitsuko responded with a small smirk as she got into position, altering her weight so that she could easily dodge any incoming attacks. Steadying her breath, she watched the two Probenders, trying to estimate what they would do before they did it and when Ren'ai turned to send out an attack, Mitsuko couldn't help but smile.

Ren'ai had said that they were starting off slow, but she easily side-stepped the move. It was something she had long learned to dodge thanks to all the sparring her and her brother had done back when they were younger. It would have been sad if Mitsuko had gotten hit. She quickly focused her gaze on Yuri, knowing she would be the next to attack and she couldn't help but feel a flicker of happiness when she met the warmth in Yuri's eyes. It almost appeared as if the Earthbender was cheering Mitsuko on in her own way.

The attack that came at her this time was not any more difficult than the first and Mitsuko barely had to shift her feet to avoid it. She wasn't sure if she should have gone all out or not but Mitsuko decided it would be safer to save the more advanced moves for the end of the test. Instead, she settled on something simple: a water whip. Mitsuko did them in quick succession to each other, sending them in opposite directions, one towards each person. Afterwards, she re-positioned her arms in front of her, ready for whatever attacks came next.

Yuri was, of course, quiet but polite to Mitsuko. She waited for the attacks from the other two girls and was not surprised when Yuri echoed her moves by sending an easy boulder to the chest to both of them. The Firebender easily side stepped her attack and then turned her gaze towards Mitsuko. This would set the stage for the rest of the battle, and Ren’ai was a bit surprised when she echoed what they had done. The Waterbender sent them both a simple Water Whip. Ren’ai sidestepped the move easily, but she had paid attention. She saw the skill in the move and had seen it in the way that she had dodged their attacks with very simple ease. She had the skill that was for certain, but how much of it?

Obviously, the easy moves were not going to be a problem for her. There was no reason to insult her by continuing to do easy moves that she had obviously had no problem with. With a smirk on her lips, Ren’ai turned her body towards Yuri. She sent a fireball towards her legs. She moves her weight to her back foot and then brought up her front, sending an arc of flame towards her chest. She brought her foot down lightly and turned towards Mitsuko before bringing it up again. She sent another arc of flame towards her before bringing her foot down again. She quickly changed her weight to her front foot again. Sending an arch of flame to her feet, opposite of how she had sent the attacks to Yuri.

With that, Ren’ai went back to her defensive stance, and kept her gaze towards both ladies, waiting to see what they would come at her with next.

Yuri was trying her best not to seem over excited that it seemed that Mitsuko was a good match for them so far. Granted that the attacks that both herself and Ren'ai had tried were both easy ones, but seeing how the Waterbender had handled them showed that she had potential in her eyes. If anything the Firebender was bound to be thinking close to the same on their hopefully newest member. And that thought made her happy but if anything she knew better then to jump for joy before all was said and done.

Oh well it was time to see what this new girl was made of, because they did have to know what she was capable of. She was ready to see what she was going to do to them. Her gaze flickered between the two girls not sure who was going to attack next, cause she was not about to be caught off guard. A light smile touched her lips at the attack that the Waterbender sent her way, she turned her body to avoid it. If anything they seemed to be just warming up with kid-gloves on. It seemed to be like a pattern by now for her to follow, she was ready for her best friend to attack.

Yuri was glad to see that Ren'ai was one step ahead of her thoughts when it came to turning up the heat. Well in her case because she was a Firebender that it was more of a literal thing. When she saw what her Captain had in store, she jumped to avoid the fireball which was easy for her because that was part of her training. As for the next part she brought stomped down with her right foot to bring up a rock large enough to block the arch of flame that was coming towards her chest and let it fall after she was done. Out of the corner of her eye she was able to see how Mitsuko was able to handle the attack headed her way.

As for pay back she sent a fist sized rock at Ren'ai's right shoulder then the next one to her left knee. As for the Waterbender she echoed her attacks in reverse to see how she was going to put up with the attacks that were sent her way. She quickly got back into a defensive position ready for whatever they were going to dish out for her.

Mitsuko grew serious, she could tell things were raising in difficulty which was just what she had wanted. Ren'ai's attacks this time around were obviously more advanced than the previous had been but Mitsuko wasn't worried just yet. Quickly, she raised a thin tendril of water and slashed the flames with them, extinguishing them. Shuffling her feet, she managed to avoid the fireball and it crashed into the ground behind her. immediately looking over to Yuri, she saw she wouldn't be able to dodge both the attacks and that it would be smarter to create a shield. Raising her arms, water flowed in front of her, trapping the rocks and stopping them from slamming into her.

There was one thing Mitsuko had known would be an issue when joining Pro-bending and that was the fact that she had been taught waterbending in a very traditional style. In her three years in Republic City, she had been learning the new forms and updated attacks, however, she would never be as experienced in it as someone who had grown up in the city. That wasn't to say that traditional forms wouldn't help her, but it was an adjustment. So far though, she thought it had been going well which was a good sign considering the other two were immensely skilled. Yuri still seemed to be encouraging, or at least positive about the whole thing but Ren'ai was harder for Mitsuko to read.

Now however, Mitsuko had to kick things up as well. She rapidly shot out small bullet-like droplets of water towards Ren'ai before sending out a water jet in the same direction. Shifting her position, she sent a ball of water flying towards Yuri before following it up with more of the water bullets. After, she quickly reverted back to her defensive position, curious to see how they would respond to her attacks.
