Yuuta's life, as of recently, had been pretty good. Though his mother's condition has been stable, he's kind of been in a new relationship (his first one, actually), his hours and pay at the warehouse have been well and even his leg has felt a little better. The past few months had been a bit rocky, however. Shuai had lost her bending but he didn't know until she came to him for help when she had accidentally burned herself, having forgotten she couldn't bend the flames in the kitchen anymore. She never really told him exactly how it affected her but he could notice the small things she did back in their apartment that had changed.

Thankfully, it wasn't too long until Korra had defeated Amon and restored bending to those that had lost it and Shuai seemed back to herself. It might've just been an intuition on his part, but he couldn't believe she was just... over it. He remembered when the moment he found out that his mother had cancer. Even though he was used to it now, that moment had still changed him. For Shuai, it might be over but was everything back to the way it once was?

The man rolled out of bed, lazily putting on casual clothes: worn slacks he wouldn't wear to work and a thin white shirt. His eyes looked over his shoulder, to the woman that laid on the bed beside him and smiled. Maybe he could let her sleep in a bit and make her some breakfast. Yuuta limped his way to the kitchen, looking through all that they had and decided on making some a simple rice omelet for her but as he finished it up, setting the plate down on their table a loud knock on the door. It had to be someone Shuai knew; no one really knew him well enough to want to visit him, nor would they know where he'd be.

Slowly he made his way to the door and opened it a peak. "Tuyen?"

It was bright when she woke, feeling for a second unsure of where she was, the room both strange and strangely familiar. Still half asleep Shuai squinted at the sliding doors before running her tongue over her dry, pink lips. Yuuta’s shades were not as thick as hers and did a pretty poor job of keeping the sunlight out. With a soft sigh Shuai rolled over onto her other side and frowned to see that he was already gone. She liked it better when Yuuta was there with her in the mornings. His face was always a happy sight to see. As she reached for his pillow she heard noises coming from the kitchen. At least he’s still in the apartment, she thought with a grin. Nuzzling the pillow up to her face she took a second to breathe in his scent. Almost all of her things, especially her clothing, smelled like him now, but that’s the sort of thing that happens in kind of relationships.

Shu-shu rolled out of his bed wearing her long pajama pants and one of his thin shirts that clung comfortably to her shape. She stepped toward the sliding doors and looked out onto their neighborhood. Everything seemed quite peaceful. The weekend had a way of slowing everybody down, even Shuai’s chatty neighbors that lived across the street. A couple of kids were playing ball in the street and Shu-shu watched them for minute, until the delicious scent of rice omelet filled her nostrils. Inhaling more of the wonderful scent she slowly crept toward the door and watched the herbalist as he finished setting the food onto a plate. He was too good to her. Sometimes she worried that he would vanish into thin air, and then Tuyen would call and tell her that it all had been a dream, him becoming her roommate, that night at the club, and then…

Shuai glanced down at her hand and stared at the pink scar that wrapped around a few of her fingers, half of the back of her hand, and some of her wrist. Yuuta had taken care of the wound so that the color of the scar had turned from an angry red to a soft rosy hue. It still looked awful against her caramel skin, but at least she was a firebender again. It could have been worse, she reminded herself as she tiptoed toward the figure in her kitchen with the long sable hair. But before she reached him there was a surprisingly loud knock at the door, and before Yuuta answered it, Shuai already guessed who it was.

“Tuyen,” Shuai scowled, echoing some of the disbelief she had heard a moment ago in Yuuta’s voice. “So nice of you to show up, uninvited.” The editor smiled at the two of them before stepping past Yuuta and heading directly for her ex-roommate. Shuai smirked at Yuuta and allowed her friend to pull her by the arm toward the kitchen table. She order Shuai to sit and knowing better than to upset Tuyen, Shuai took her seat and snorted under her breath as her friend ordered Yuuta to do the same thing. Shu-shu stared at him with kind yellow eyes and prayed that he would just follow her lead. The quicker they gave Tuyen what she wanted the sooner they’d have the apartment to themselves. “So,” Shuai said as Tuyen took a seat next to her, “what can I, we, do for you this morning Tuyen?”

And then the editor just came out and said it, “What the hell is going on with the both of you? I've never been this confused in all my life. Are you together or what?”

And Shuai blushed.

Yuuta stepped back as Tuyen barged past him, heading straight towards Shu-Shu. The herbalist rolled his bright green eyes at the scene. He had only met Tuyen once - no, twice since they met a second time at the club. Even the first time he met her, she had seemed so outgoing and... annoying. Of course, without her, he could've never found out that Shuai needed a roommate and he would've never met her. The man reached behind his head, dragging his fingers through his long hair. So much pivoted around this odd woman and he was grateful for all that had happened but he couldn't honestly say he enjoyed her company. He much more preferred something quite and relaxing compared to Tuyen's excitement.

His attention was soon snapped to Shuai who stood there until pulled by her friend to the table. With a long and tired sigh, he reached out to close and lock the door to their apartment, planning to leave the girls to themselves. After all, Tuyen was Shuai's friend - or, at the least, a previous roommate, the one of whom he took the place of - so what was he needed for? Sadly, he caught the gaze of Shuai and instantly understood the message she was sending him: come and sit. Out of simple loyalty, he obeyed, moving towards the table and quite reluctantly took his seat.

"Yes," Yuuta unnecessarily added, leaning back in his seat and his arms crossed heftily over her chest. "To what do we owe the pleasure?" he asked dryly. Unlike Shuai, the man had a hard time trying to be pleasant when he, obviously, was not in the mood for it. All he had wanted was to make it a nice morning for Shu-Shu, make her something nice, though he doubted it be anywhere as nice as her own food, he hoped she'd appreciate the effort. One of the few things he could make well was noodles, but that wasn't so much of a breakfast food.

Finally the woman simply blurted it out and his expression was almost laughable. For a man that rarely smiled, was usually grumpy even when he had no reason to be, being wide-eyed, mouth agape and speechless was a new one for him. "I, uh," he managed to say, turning to look at his roommate who wore a similar face, blushing incredibly. "I don't see how that's any of your concern," he huffed, looking away from both women, finding his own face heating up considerably.

"But, um..." He trailed off, wondering what Shuai was thinking. Were they together? Even if they were, why did they have to discuss it with Tuyen? It was so awkward. "We haven't exactly... discussed that like blatantly."
