Reina slowed down and looked back at Jizu. "Sorry, I'm just really happy to see this place," She replied as she waited for him to catch up. She knew that the filing the report was their first priority but Reina was nervous about looking for an available position in the police force. Reina gave the building another look and couldn't help but wonder if she was ready to truly commit to protecting and serving Republic City. After all, she had run away from everything else that had grown close to her. A worry line creased her forehead and Reina quickly shook it away. She started walking up the steps and took a deep breath. "Ready to go report some criminals?" Reina asked with a smile as she opened up the door for Jizu. She kept wondering if the police would be able to find those men or if reporting them would just stir up more trouble.

For the first time that day, Jizu smiled at Reina. "Yes, let's." Jizu walked into the station. He wondered briefly if they might have a desk job here, but he dismissed it, thinking he'd be better off with his job as an assistant in the bookstore. He was curious as to why no officers could be found when he and Reina were being followed, don't they normally patrol the streets? Then again, Jizu might just not know, seeing how he doesn't go outside very often.

Reina walked into the station beside Jizu smiling quietly. She was glad that she had finally seen Jizu look happy and not like an angry wolf-bear. As they approached the reception desk Reina got the attention of a rather surly looking woman and proceeded to describe the night's events. She turned back to Jizu and gave an exasperated sigh. "They'll probably just file the report away unless they come after anyone else," She said as the woman turned away to file their information. She then handed Reina some papers. "You and the young man can sign these and the report will be processed," She stated before turning back to the newspaper on her desk. Reina quickly signed her name and then passed the paper over to Jizu. She knew it was unlikely, but she hoped they would be able to stop the men from harassing anyone else. "Hey, wait here and finish signing these. I'm going to go check the boards and ask some of the other officers about any potential job openings," Reina said as she nodded her head towards two officers leaning next to a bulletin board.

Jizu nodded, accepting the paper from Reina. "Right." He signed the paper, and then started waiting. Now that he was out of that whole situation, he could think more clearly, and maybe come to some sort of conclusion as to who was following them, He's sure that this has never happened to him before, so maybe they were after Reina? But why? An obvious reason might be that she's a bender, which wouldn't be too far fetched, she did just arrive in town, and she was quite open with her bending, which a lot of folks don't like to see. So they were remnant Equalists? Or were they the Galgori Jizu has heard about? Jizu knew next to nothing about them, other than that they were against benders like the Equalists, but they must be different in some way, Jizu just didn't know how...

Reina walked back over to Jizu after receiving little to no information from the two officers. "I'm going to have to go through a lot of hoops before I can get a job with them," She said with a shrug. She looked over at Jizu and noticed that he seemed to be much more relaxed than he was earlier. "Hey, I'm sorry about all of the stress today. You handled it like a champ though." She gave him a smile and a short congratulatory pat on the back. She really was impressed with his ability to stay calm under pressure. Not many ordinary civilians had that capability.
She slowly glanced around the office and noticed that most of the empty spaces were desks. She cringed at the thought of a desk job but if she could get in then at least she would have a job. Not having money back home was never a problem for her. Most of her basic necessities were things she could hunt or barter for. Here it was different, they ran everything based off of money. Reina wondered if she would be able to adjust to all of the newness or if she would just end up being swallowed up by such a busy place.

Jizu had his thinking face on again, a hand on his chin, and his eyes wandering, but he managed to respond well enough. "Thank you... Hey, Reina, did you get a good look at the people following us?" He himself only got a brief glance while in the bar, but other than that he wouldn't really be able to give a good description. "I know I said before that they might have been simple thugs, but did they look that way?" There were a few things bothering him, like the vacancy of the street when he and Reina were walking. Simple thugs might prefer the solemnity of an alleyway, and probably wouldn't be able to plan out or influence civilian traffic so as to be out and about while there were no witnesses.

As Reina thought more on it she realized that Jizu was right. "No... They didn't." Reina concentrated and thought back to the first two men that she saw. "They were both wearing the same jackets..." She suddenly trailed off. Pictures drifted through her head of news headlines that talked about equalist attacks in major cities. Her thoughts then flashed to the talks of the Galgori that she had overheard since her arrival. She could feel all of the color leave her face as an awful realization hit her. They were after her. She had put not only herself, but Jizu in danger as well. She felt so stupid for putting her bending on display like that when she knew how people might react. From now on she knew that she would have to keep it out of the public eye unless it was necessary.

JIzu nodded, understanding the situation a bit better. "So, they were in uniform? That sounds like equalists, but they haven't been organized in months." So, was it Galgori? Did they wear uniforms? Jizu looked out a nearby window, he saw the sun was going down. He knew that this situation wasn't going to get any better at night. "Well, it's getting dark, I should head home, where are you going to go?" Jizu wasn't even sure himself if it was safe to walk on his own back to the bookstore, but that was the only place he had to stay. But Reina just arrived in the city, as a bender she'd be more of a target than Jizu.

"We should get an officer to drive you home," Reina suggested as she snapped out of it. Reina had no idea where she would go. It was possible that the city had some public shelters some place or she could see about ducking in a shop in the Water Tribe district if anyone would have her. "I'll figure out something for where to stay," She said as nonchalantly as she could manage. She knew that she would be alright, at least it wasn't cold here. Now she just had to figure out what her course of action would be.
Reina knew that she was starting from scratch but even though she was completely lost she knew that she was OK. This place wasn't her home but it wasn't like she had felt at home in the Southern Water Tribe. She thought back on her last night in her village and what her father had said to her. "Don't go away and lose yourself to the world. Always remember who you are." Reina could almost shake her head at the thought. She barely knew ho she was to begin with. That was why she had left the Southern Water Tribe.

Jizu gave Reina a worried look, but he decided that she probably could handle herself just fine. It's not like he had anywhere to offer her to stay, definitely not the bookstore, seeing as his uncle barely fit in a living space for two in that place. "Alright, if you find anything out about who was following us, just look for the bookstore. And..." He held out his hand to shake and smiled again. "It was nice meeting you." It's been awhile since Jizu had friend, he hoped he'd be able to say otherwise.

Reina gave a big smile and accepted Jizu's handshake. "It was nice meeting you. I'll stop by as soon as I find out what's up with those goons," She replied. As Reina was about to walk out of the door a middle-aged policeman grabbed her by the arm. "Miss, we have a couple applications for you to look over when you have the time. I'm sorry the others neglected to hand them to you," He said with an apologetic smile. Reina nearly jumped for joy. "Oh, officer," She said as she regained composer. "Could you give my friend Jizu a ride home?" As she said this Reina realized that it was the first time she had ever called anyone her friend. Normally she would shy away from the term and just stick to acquaintance. The officer gave a polite node and went to grab his keys.
Reina turned back to Jizu and smiled. "See ya around," she said before leaving. As Reina walked outside she looked over the tops of the applications and smiled. She was getting somewhere with this being on her own thing. She still needed a place to stay for the night but she decided that the old woman at the diner might be willing to let her stay if she offered to help clean up after the customers. The woman had seemed nice enough anyways. For once in her life Reina felt as if she was going to be accepted. Even though she knew there were people against her she felt hopeful for her future circumstances.
