A stone courtyard surrounded by a dense bamboo garden has one attraction - an ancient wooden training device referred to as the "Airbending Gates". The Gates teach how to move freely, to be as nimble as the wind, by forcing one to maneuver the course of spinning planks. It is a difficult task, requiring not only speed and agility, but the presence of mind to be able to alter course at a moment's notice.
