To say that Ren’ai had been frustrated with her life over the past couple weeks was an understatement. First of all, they failed to make it past the Quarter-Finals. In fact, they pretty much got slammed by the Flying Koi. Sure, they got beat by the Fire Ferrets, but it still upset her that they had lost. It had all been her fault, too. If she hadn’t been a bit more logical and less emotional than it would never have happened. She would have been a better Captain – should have been a better Captain, that is. The dark-haired young woman could not fault her teammates when she was the Captain and should have been directed the team better. She let her emotions get the better of her, and they lost because of it. There was no else to blame.
Ren’ai arrived at the practice gym that they’d be working in. She changed into her practice outfit, and put on her helmet. Thinking about the Quarter-final in which they’d been defeated reminded her about the party that her parents had thrown her. She had been hopeful, which had probably been stupid from the start. The Firebender had hoped that everything would go great. In fact, she had seen it all in her mind. Her friends and family would all get along great. Her parents would not mention for once that she was a failure in their eyes. Liu would show up and everyone would like and approve of him. For once, her parents wouldn’t disapprove for someone that she was dating. She honestly didn’t care what they thought, but it would make it so much easier on her life if they approved of what she did. She hadn’t been naïve enough to think that they’d suddenly come around, but that didn’t matter to her.
However, things had not gone that way at all, though it had seemed like it at first. Everyone had been getting along. Liu showed up late, but he showed up. He and Tadashi had a good conversation. Sure, she had been ignored until she had planned on inserting herself into Yuri and Kamil’s conversation. Then, Liu had left, claiming to be sick. Everything had seemed to go all right. She, Yuri and Kamil had talked. She and her Earthbending best friend had been telling their Waterbender how horrible she had been. However, as soon as the party ended, her parents had asked her when she was going to give up this stupid “probending stuff”. It had infuriated her, and of course, they disapproved of Liu casue he left early. No matter how many times she had said that he was sick, they didn’t buy it. He hadn’t seemed sick. People could be fairly decent actors when they wanted to be, but that didn’t see that.
Nothing had gone well after that, at least as far as Probending was concerned. Well, Ren’ai supposed she couldn’t really say that. After all, everything had seemed to be going good in practice. The Quarter-final hadn’t, though. They’d lost to the Flying Koi. Now, she wasn’t sure if Liu really had been sick or not. After all, he had said that he “busy” or always had something else to do. She had pretty much given up. That had been short and sweet – just like her Probending season. It made her so angry, and she didn’t know what to do about it. The dark-haired young woman had distracted herself with work, but she knew that doing that forever was pointless. So, she decided that there was no point in avoiding it. The next season would be here soon enough, and as the Captain of the Dragon Hawks, she would make sure that her team was prepared – whether they liked it or not.
Ren’ai started practicing alone. She wasn’t Firebending yet, though – going through the movements. No one else was here yet, and that wasn’t helping her temper, either. She tried to keep herself calm, but the dark-haired young woman had never been very good at that. All she had to do was wait until Yuri and Kamil got here and they actually got something accomplished. Why were they late to begin with? She had been clear on the time that she had set. She was the Captain, after all. Why weren’t they are? She sent an angry blast at the floor before realizing how stupid that was. She wasn’t really upset at them, but she had no other way to vent her anger. She didn’t know what else to do, so she was taking it out on the people around her. She had gotten in trouble at work because of it. She was really upset that her Probending dreams, which had finally happened, had not happened the way she wanted.
Ugh, where were they?
