This had been the most tiring day that Jing had incurred in all the time he had been in Republic City. Walking from district to district, monument to monument, following the current of people through the twists and turns of the city famished the young man. Having only eaten once that day didn't help either, and that meal being in the early morning only made matters worse. Jing's fatigue and hunger were apparent in his behavior; holding his stomach, struggling to keep his eyes open, and his walk was not the sturdiest.
Jing came across Republic City Park, the one place he had avoided today. Why would he want to see more green than what was already on him? Ridiculous. But he was confused, and alone. It was getting dark outside, but Jing failed to notice that. Very few people were in the park at that hour and that was for good reason.
Republic City was not the safest place after hours. This was even more true at night. Thieves, gangs, and drunkards walked these areas in the late evening, and the park was a favorite spot for most of those mentioned. If Jing had been a bit more coherent, maybe he would have cared. But he wasn't, so he didn't.
Whilst wandering through the park, Jing came upon a wooden bench. He sat on this bench, and was beginning to nod off when he noticed a figure in the distance. In an effort to protect himself, he stomped the ground and created a wall of rock in front of the bench. He curled up in a ball, and waited to see if this stranger would continue.
