The streets were watching her, following her pace and stalking her every turn as she stepped along the walkways, each time focusing a little bit more on the reason why they were so interested in her. And each time she was just a little quicker at turning the heels of her shoes around corners and making her way as casually as possible... But the streets were never going to lose her, they had her short green loose clothes marked, and they were tracking her every move. She couldn't escape their sight - but that was just her imagination, streets had better things to do at nightfall.

The little girl's heart was a bit busy, beating hard because of the level of excitement and hurry currently reached by her moving frame, and she was having trouble breathing correctly, hesitating between running and walking. She wanted to reach her destination as quickly as possible, but at the same time she didn't want to be in such a hurry that she would drop her most cherished prize. Not that it was anything fragile at all, but purely because of the principle: you don't drop what you cherish. You take care of it as best as you can, and make sure nothing happens to it. Well, the thing she was holding under her arm right now, that spherical one in a white package and a ribbon... It was as precious to her as money and jewelry would be to any high class citizen.

Lykka stopped walking at the edge of a walkway, about to cross a heavy traffic road. A couple of trucks that she recognized to be from Cabbage Corp passed in front of her, probably transporting some new merchandise that was on the market. The adults in this city cared so much about material things, buying and selling, so long as they were able to profit from what they did for a time. There was so little meaning to what they did in her opinion, it felt like false happiness. Even so, what people did with their money was their business... she was still a young teenager, and she had just done something amazing with her money. But she wouldn't unveil it until she reached the place she was headed for.

There was a gradually widening smile on her face as she stepped into the abandoned parking lot right outside of the last train station in this area of Republic City. It was a very rarely frequented area, probably only known by gangs and by herself - she had never seen anyone else the few times she came here, nevertheless some people could have discovered the place like she did. The moon was only just rising, it had taken her less long than she had thought to get here from the store. Nobody was watching, she was all alone in the middle of the parking lot, finally able to unleash all the emotions she was keeping locked down.

Tearing the package open, she revealed the yellow leather ball that she had just purchased, looking at it like a treasure of unbelievable value. The yellow color was reflecting in her fixated green eyes, as if it was a crystal ball with unimaginable powers, hypnotizing the girl... She finally had it. She'd finally managed to get her hands on one. To think they were so easy to acquire during her grandfather's and even her father's youth, but nowadays she'd actually had to order one in order to get it imported. It was painful enough having had to pay for it... At least they let her pick the color.

Regardless, she finally had her soccer ball. Holding it in her hands and staring at it so intensely made her remember about her earth soccer times when she was younger. What exactly had crossed Joychi's mind when he decided to teach his grandchildren Earthbending through that game ? And why modify the rules all the time ? It had sent her into such a fury when her father told her the basic rules were different from what she'd learnt... But she'd remained an excellent goalie.

Dropping the ball at her feet, Lykka stomped the ground to make it bounce a little, then began joggling a little. It was all coming back to her, the awkwardness of a bouncing ball, and its erratic trajectory when doing it with her feet. Last time, she was doing a contest with her cousins to see who could do the most of these without dropping the ball. But she was barefoot and on a more familiar terrain... She had lost that contest, but still, she had done better than she was doing now.
