((Everything above the astrics besides the last paragraph and line were for fun. Just letting you know you don't have to read all of this. Sorry if it was edited poorly, too. I'll look over it again, but I just wanted to get this out before too much time passed. Enjoy and I look foreward to the rp!))
High atop its throne at the crest of the sky sat the sun. Each ray was like a small hand that caressed the back of people’s necks or brush against the occasional cheek. As it reached out to each person on the ground below, there was one darting being that it could only try to grasp at. The raven haired girl was elusive as she flitted from wall to wall with a stack of papers and a bucket of liquid. No matter how much the sun tried to keep its burning eye on the black and red clad girl, she would always find away to stand were it could not reach her.
Golden eyes to match the sun’s own glory peered up at the familiar scorching ball stuck up in the sky. They narrowed as to not be blinded and a petite hand rose to help shadow them. With a gigantic sigh, the girl grumbled to herself, “I should really think about lighter clothing for the summer. . .”
With the topic of her clothing on her mind, she turned her gaze down to her vest. Adjusting the red dragons that danced around her abdomen, the girl decided to unbutton one last button on the black shirt that she wore underneath. It probably didn’t help that she was also wearing black pants and her red boots. But how could the girl ever abandon her dragon clad shoes? Despite herself, she did harbor a love for those shoes. Not to mention they matched her red and gold belt. Shaking her head, the cog earrings she wore made a small chiming sound that she adored.
Pushing a long lock of midnight black hair out of her face that managed to escape the goggles atop her head, those gilded eyes turned toward the clock master’s shop. The doors were wide open like a monster maw to allow a breeze and the girl could spy the plump, older man hunched behind the counter. Smiling to herself, the girl popped into the shop with a jaunty wave of her papers.
“Well, if it wasn’t Yuriko the Waitress Wonder come to visit me,” beamed the red face man.
Giving a small hop to the last couple of steps up to the counter, Yuriko set the papers and bucket of pasting glue on the glass case. The man raised a fuzzy eyebrow before picking up one of the papers that now littered his watch case. “What do we got here? A probending team?” questioned the man as he held the paper to face Yuriko, “What is this? Is there something you haven’t been telling everybody around here about yourself?”
Yuriko almost looked away guiltily as she picked some dirt from her fingernails. She has been dreading this part of her search for fame. Who would ever believe the small thing that served coffee at their local restaurant secretly warmed it up with just the snap of her fingers? With the whole Equalist movement running through the city like a snake, you never knew who have been devoured by the hissing viper of hate.
The girl plastered a fake smile on her face like she had been plastering those fliers on the walls, “I’m just helping a friend, Mr. Hingsa. She is a bender and needed help getting all these fliers up.”
This was the moment! Almost swallowing noticeably, the firebender waited to see if the man would condemn others like her. She hated feeling like a coward for not telling people. But what could she do? There was no way she could hold it against people for hating what she could do. After all she had done something that would put her away for a long time. If they knew. . .
“Oh, well go ahead and stick it up in the window,” gestured the man with a sympathetic smile on his face before he gave a small frown, “But please don’t use the glue, Yuriko. Just wedge it in the corner.”
Glowing as brightly as the sun, Yuriko jumped with excitement and actually ran around the corner to hug the slightly sweaty man. Surprised by the affection at first, the man smiled anyways and her patted her head. “Alright now, move along. You have many fliers to put up and not a lot of time to do it in. As I recall, you work tonight don’t you?”
Sheepishly, she nodded while she turned to the window. “Yeah, I close up the shop tonight, too.”
“Hope everything turns out for your friend!” Called the man as he rolled up his sleeves.
Turning to wave back at the man, Yuriko giggled, “Oh, she’ll be happy to have your support!”
After she left the store, Yuriko turned to look at the poster settled in the corner. She had been drawing these posters with every spare moment she had for the past two weeks. In the end, they looked great. She had drawn three benders from each of the three elements, the firebender only resembling her in the slightest, with big letters across the top saying ‘Seeking Fame to Match the Avatars?’ In no way did she think that such fame would be attained in the match, but it was a good hook. Below that, there were the directions to the meeting place and the time she had set: 10:30 pm at the fountain at the Sakura Park.
Smiling to herself, the girl turned to go to the seamstress shop next door.
10:30 pm.
That was what her silver pocket watch said. Pocketing the watch he had picked up not to long after she moved here, the girl sat back down on the ledge of the fountain. The moon had taken over reign of the sky and gazed down more lovingly than the stern sun. Its silver glow was more of a whisper on her skin than the coarse brushing of the sun’s rays.
The ambiance was amazing here! The smell of the grass mingled with the small chirps of crickets. Even some fireflies had decided to make an appearance. It almost seemed like they danced together in celebration of to moons glory.
While rolling up her sleeves on her black button up, Yuriko scanned the horizon again for any potential movement. Nothing. Sighing, the girl continued to fidget as she ran a hand through her hair and readjusted the goggles that now hung around her neck.
Oh how nervous she was! There was a small knot that was turning itself over in her stomach and would not untangle no matter how much she breathed. And the electricity in her bones? It sizzled in every nerve fiber and Yuriko could have sworn she could lightening bend if she could just coax out the tension. But alas, it hung in her chest and held her breath hostage in her constricted lungs.
Would anyone come?
