{Sorry Toru. I technically did get the part, but I have to reapply... of course! Also, I apologize to the mods if it doesn't exactly fit the canon, or if it wasn't as good as my 'winning' Ty Lee post. Well... here goes nothing:}
Ty Lee post:
“At fourteen, Ty Lee was certainly a character. Of course, being a gymnast and all, she was obviously talented, as well as free-spirited. Some people might describe her as a bird: free-willed, powerful, and bubbly, yet relatively weak and unwilling to go into conflict. From a young age, Ty Lee was a circus performer, perfecting her skills as an acrobat. ‘Gifted’ with the talent to see peoples’ auras, this young lady is capable of seeing how others feel.”
Ty Lee laughed and clapped her hands happily. “Oh, Azula, you’re so funny.” The girl lunged forward and caught herself with her hands, skillfully raising herself up, then began walking around up side down. She made her way toward a cruel-looking friend and grinned, gray eyes flashing as the brown hair she tied in a braid flipped down behind her. “Where’d you get that anyway?”
Azula shrugged. “I wrote and thought it was fitting. No big deal.” The firebender shut the book (which looked to Ty Lee oddly like a diary) quickly and then tossed it aside carelessly.
Ty Lee giggled again. “Okay, then. If you insist.” She gracefully swung her legs down and arched her back backward to come to a stand. She couldn’t help but give a little “Ta da!” as she stood, arms apart triumphantly. Then she blinked a few times and her smile faded. It wasn’t like she was upset or anything. The acrobat just had to think for a little bit. A thought had occurred to her that she’d never heard before.
“What’s wrong?” asked Azula with a faked air of concern in her tone. “I know you Ty Lee; you can’t lie to me, so don’t.”
It took Ty Lee a moment to gather her thoughts, oblivious to the fact that Azula only wanted to know because she was afraid the acrobat was having second thoughts of the team. Wow. I guess Azula really does know me well. She gave a bubbly smile. That’s fun! It’s like she’s reading my mind! Maybe she has super powers!
“I was just thinking about the war,” Ty Lee said happily. “You know, how we met. If my parents were never Fire Nation Royals, I would have never met you, or Mai.” (Mai was away at this time, Ty Lee was sad to admit. To tell the truth, she missed her goth companion’s pessimistic, bored tone of voice, and the nonchalant aura Mai held.) “I’d probably be sorta depressed if I’d never met you two. It’s weird. Since the war made my parents nobles, I was able to be in the circus and learn the weak points in a person. I wouldn’t’a met you guys!”
Ty Lee was grinning happily, flashing white teeth and displaying child-like dimples. Her round face was contorted from happiness as she looked at her friend. However, her eyes hinted a bit of mischief. “I wouldn’t have seen the Avatar or that cute guy he travels with either. Or that spazzy waterbending girl…” She walked forward, arms spread wide, then stopped about a meter away from Azula, about to hug the firebender. But Ty Lee reconsidered. Did she really want to do that?
She shrugged and lowered her arms. “But the best thing that’s happened to me because of the war was the fact that you and Mai are my best friends ever.” She stared at Azula for a moment, smile lowering. Most people would have thought she’d ended her bubbly fountain of happiness. But to those who knew her, they saw her gray eyes sparkle with ecstasy.
“So… When’s Mai coming back?”
