Name: Michiko Chouna
Age: 75
Appearance:
Michiko is how you’d normally expect a 75 year old woman: Wrinkly, and ancient, she possesses large ears, and a short, thin body, usually adorned with a large, red, fire nation robe. Possessing long, grey hair, she wears it up in an elderly fashion; in a bun near the top of her head, while the rest of her hair drops solemnly, near the front in two long, parted hair pieces, to the base of her forearm. She seems to have a large amount of jewelry on her hands, for no apparent reason. These comprise mostly of rings, and a single bracelet on her left arm. She also wears red pants underneath her robe, with pointed shoes. She may be referred to as an “Old Hag”.
History:
Michiko was born to a Fire Navy Soldier, and a civilian. Though her parents are long dead by now, they helped mold Michiko into what she is today. Michiko was always amazed with her father’s fire bending techniques. So, when she enrolled into the Academy when she turned 5, it was no big deal. Now, her father was barely home, ever. So, to learn fire bending, she turned to her mother, who in turn signed her up for a combat class at the Academy. When she did so, it made Michiko’s day, every day. She learned about fire, and that they drew their energy from the sun… And much more.
When Michiko began to learn how to bend, she was capable of producing hot bursts, and had little control over it. Through about a decade of training, when she turned 15, she was capable of producing slightly longer blasts. Realizing that she only had a few more years in school, she searched for a potential master, locating one around Ember Island. She went there after her graduation, leaving her mother to cope with the money her father brought in, and her three siblings, two girls, one 12, one 9, and one brother, who was 5. As she studied under her master, she learned something new: Fire needed to be controlled, otherwise it could destroy everything… For the first time in her studies, she began to exercise patience, which refined her strategy even more.
By the time she was thirty, Michiko was ready, she had studied for twenty-five long years, and was ready to do her calling: Join the army. As she signed up, she was assigned to a team, one of the teams going to infiltrate the Earth Kingdom. Boarding a boat, Michiko’s shipmates provided her with companions, one even reminding her of her father. As they arrived, there was a large scale battle going on. Michiko combated the Guardians and Protectors diligently, burning them to the bone, not showing the slightest bit of remorse on her hardened features, but was slowly dying on the inside.
Continuing her onslaught, she was glad when they finally pulled out of the Earth Kingdom, she had been fighting for 5 years, and she couldn’t take much more of not having a break, she was nearly praying for the return of the Avatar. When she returned home, her father had died on a mission, and her brother was doing most of the work, assisting their mother. Deeply infuriated with herself, Michiko did the only thing she knew possible; she had to change jobs, or flee. Fleeing would be impossible, even though she was skilled, she could take down 25 at best, without being killed. And the Fire Nation had hundreds of thousands of “expendable”, able-bodies.
When she switched jobs, she was undergone a trial, the woman served as one of the prison guards, on a large, hot rock. The heat annoyed her, but she put up with it, getting a week’s vacation every year. She used them sparingly, rarely leaving her post.
Many years passed, she was growing old, and had accumulated enough time to retire… So she did. By now, her sisters were married with children, and her brother had joined the army… Her mother, was dead. Returning to her home, she occupied her childhood home, looking to find a peaceful job… Her retirement pay was not enough. So, she began to search.
One day, on her way home, something caught her eye. A ship with plunder from the Earth Kingdom. An adorable cream rabbit with a white foot caught her eye… Not having any children, maternal instinct seemed to come in at a random time. She bought it off the plunderers, and it currently rides around in her large sleeve.
Personality:
Michiko has changed drastically over the years. Going from adorable, little peppy kid learning about fire bending, she’s transferred over to a wise, old woman, who knows much about fire bending. As an old woman, her personality is like that of a grandma to everyone: Kind, caring, and calm. Should you attack her, or one of her friends however, you might find yourself on the wrong end of a flame. Her rabbit is also like the child she never had- It’s precious to her. Good-natured in total, you might find her kind and sweet, although many don’t understand her wisdom, rarely taking it. For this reason, she is called an “Old Hag” most of the time, and she slowly chuckles about it, rarely showing her saddened emotion to others. In fact, due to the large amount of wrinkles around her face, you may say she can’t show emotion… But this is mainly due to the fact that she possessed a cold, outer covering while in the Navy.
