Kai Jin has had the good luck to be tall by being a little taller then average. Unlike his Uncle Makino he has a rather lanky physique that works well for him because of his youth. He is a rather good looking young man with kind golden eyes set above a straight strong nose that he acquired from his father. Although what most people notice that is different when they look from his father to himself is his mouth. What little bit of his mother that is in him shows in his sensual set of lips. Yet he has a pleasing face to look at, and is not as plain as most. His hair is as black as Princess Azula’s heart and hangs a couple of inches below his shoulders. Most of the time he has it tied up in a pony tail, so that it will be out of his face.

Kai Jin is the first born son of Jeong Wei and Soo Ling, two loyal subjects of the Fire Nation. For the first three years of his life everything was calm and peaceful until his little brother came along. Then his mother gave birth to a bouncing baby brat named Li Wei. Of course suddenly being a big brother was not what it was cracked up to be, his little brother got to be fussed over all the time and he felt like he was tossed aside like an old toy. Then a couple of years go by and then he found out that he was a Firebender, and then all of a sudden his father was paying attention to him again. His father took it upon himself to teach his oldest son how to Firebend, Jeong Wei was a devoted teacher and father despite the fact that he is not around all of the time. His father is in the army so he is only able to help his son out while he is at home, but Kai Jin has learned to accept things the way that they are. Besides that means that dad will not be able to spend more time with Li Wei, the annoying little Mama’s Boy. Luckily his brother was not a bender so he was not able to join in during his training sessions with father, and went off to annoy someone else over the next six years while his big brother was learning to master the basics.

While his father was away he continued to practice from the crack of dawn to the setting of the sun, the only thing that stopped for was to eat because his mother insisted he eat. There was nothing more that he wanted then to become a master and make his parents proud of him. His father has a brother named Makino, and he knows that his father doesn’t like his uncle that much. For as long as he could remember they only get together with his Uncle and his family only once a year. It was a surprise when it was announced that his cousin Karena was going to be marring Prince Zuko. Of course as a courtesy they were invited to the engagement party, it was so boring and neither one of the ‘happy’ couple seemed very pleased about getting married to each other. But then again it was not his problem, and that was the first time that he set eyes on Princess Azula. His first thought of her was that she was beautiful and that there was no way that she would even talk to him, heck she did not even look his way the whole night. Besides the young man thought that she was out of his league so he did not even dare to talk to her.

Soon Kai Jin and his family got the shock of their lives; Karena had been banished right after Prince Zuko. His cousin had taken it into her own head to try to ruin their family’s honor, but what was even more outrageous was the fact that his Uncle Makino was still in the Fire Lord’s favor. For the most part of these past four years he has been working hard on his bending and has reached intermediate level, and has been seeing a girl. As for the girl he has been seeing her for the past six months and he knows that his parents would not approve. There is nothing special about her, she is poor and of course is not of noble birth. His parents would be furious if they found out about their relationship, which of course they would never find out about it until it was too late. But of course he is looking forward to following in his father’s footsteps and joining the army to protect the Fire Nation.

What has always baffled Kai Jin was the terms to undo Prince Zuko’s banishment, the Avatar had banished one hundred years ago. Did that mean that the Fire Lord was just looking for a way to say that his son would never be able to regain his lost honor? Well the joke is on him, because of the return of the Avatar.

He is a young man that is rather easy going and is not one to go out looking for fights. But he is not a person that will stand there and let you insult him or any of his friends. If he should see someone picking on another person that seems like they are unable to take care of them selves then he will stand up for that person, even if they are a total stranger. It is his kind heart that compels him to help others, and he does not like to think the worst of others. That is something that was instilled upon him by his mother. Kai Jin hates to let others down, so he will always give his all in whatever he does. A part of him admires people that have the vision to lead, and he will stand behind them for the good of the Fire Nation.
