Takeno

Post by Gia on Jan 18, 2009 14:28:39 GMT -6

Gia Avatar
Name: Takeno
Age: Almost 20

Appearance: Takeno is slightly taller than average height. He has black hair that falls slightly down past his shoulders. He keeps it up in the usual style of the Fire Nation soldiers when on duty, and when he’s off duty, he usually keeps it back in a simple ponytail. Takeno is thin, with long, lean muscles from all his years of training and his years a soldier. His eyes are the normal amber gold that one would usually find the Fire Nation. Since he is a soldier, Takeno can usually be found in his uniform, and when off duty, you’ll find him in the normal Fire Nation attire of red and brown. Takeno is not a bad looking guy, but he doesn’t consider himself a truly good-looking guy, either, though some might.

History: Takeno was born the first child of Celarno and Meili, two average Fire Nation citizens who lived in a small town about a day from the Capitol. They were not overly rich or overly poor, and about three years later, they welcomed their second, a girl named Kanea. Two years after that, their younger brother, Telarno, was born. All three children were gifted with Firebending. Takeno and his brother, Telarno, were strong benders, like their father. Their mother was not a bender, and their sister’s bending was weak. Growing up, Celarno would put his three children through harsh, tough training to prepare them for the worst. That was their life – eat, sleep, training with their father. Well, except for Kanea. Their mother forbid her to learn Firebending, though their father taught her some anyway. She was more proficient with swords, though, than either of her brothers.

Celarno and Meili were strong believers in the Fire Lord’s plan to rule the world. They both believed greatly in him. Growing up, Takeno had no other choice but to believe what his parents told him. After all, they were his parents, and you believe your parents. Therefore, he was eager to join the service of his nation. Soon after his sixteenth birthday, he joined the Army, working hard to succeed and grow in rank to please not only his family but also the Fire Lord. He came home whenever possible with stories of what he’d done, how hard he working and training. Both of his parents are very proud of their son, the soldier, though of course they both worried. What happened not to long after that, however, prompted the first exciting thing that every happened in the life of his family, because Takeno always considered themselves to be normal.

His sister, seeing her brother as a soldier and eager to follow his example, stole their younger brother’s clothing and masqueraded as a boy in the Army, to blend in more. Women were allowed in the army, but she was not old enough yet, too young by two years. However, she was caught by her commanding officer, and after back talking, found herself banished. It just so happened that it had been the same regiment as Takeno. He yelled at his sister for her stupidity before she left. As time went on, though, he found himself agreeing less and less with Ozai, and eventually, his daughter, Azula. Takeno never said a word, but eventually, a chance meeting with an older man named Makino changed his life forever.

Makino was a nobleman with a vacation home in Takeno’s hometown. His disagreement with what the Fire Nation was doing had been growing, and as it would turn out, Makino was the leader of an underground rebellion in the Fire Nation. The man used to be a soldier, but had been forced to retire due to an injury. He had a personal grudge against the Fire Lord as well, because he banished Makino’s only child, Karena, Prince Zuko’s fiancée. Takeno, after some thinking, secretly joined, and as he grew in rank, he helped Makino more and more. Now, he works on trying to recruit more people, while he and other members of the rebellion wait, biding their time until they can help the Avatar in taking down the Fire Lord and Princess Azula, putting his banished son, Zuko, in his rightful place on the throne.

Personality: Takeno seems pretty good natured most of the time. He has a habit of covering up what he’s really feeling or thinking with jokes and jabs. He loves to practice and fight, and will use any excuse to spar, though he will only take part in a real fight if he feel it’s necessary. Takeno’s slow to anger, though when you get him mad, he’s not someone you want to mess with. He’s very dedicated and hard working, and will do anything for a cause that he believes is just. Takeno’s also very loyal to anyone or anything that he cares about, and he’s not the kind of person to back down on a promise. He’s a man of his word through and through. If he says that he’ll do something, then he will do it unless he’s given a good enough reason not to.
