With my character shijin I got most of my ideas from sano from Rurouni Kenshin
and with kenji I got them from Aoshi from rurouni kenshin

My creative imagination always lets me make my own moves or think of places or shows, video games that have cool moves that i can do, but mostly i make them up.

I watch or read bits and pieces about water, so I can incorporate them into my fighting style.

Sometimes about the classical element water on Wiki, from videogames, from movies, virtuallyh anything I can find.

I get some from the show, and some from my own experience. I learnt Karate until black belt. Got some of the moves from there. But combining Waterbending with those moves may be a little difficult so I stole some from the show. Like the water whip that Katara uses.

anyone who takes karate is lucky
for my character yuan I base them on attacks I've seen with anyone who uses a sword in anime (ex: Zoro (one piece), yahiko (kenshin)) hao haven't thought about it
