Agreed. I think though, for many of the internet community, Pearl Harbor was diminished by the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Tsk, tsk, Blizzard! >{

Pearl Harbor day isn't extremely 'near' to me as a US tragedy, but it does signify a sort of remembrance for WWII, no? I had relatives in the Philippines (my grandfather's [on my mom's side] brother) who were taken away by the Japanese and made to march in the Bataan Death March. My grandmother's (on my stepfather's side) brother went out for a quart of milk but never came home — we found out a year before my grandmother's passing that he was actually in the Resistance in Holland, and had died during a railway caper (because I couldn't think of a better word). My grandfather (also on my stepfather's side) had to hide in a burlap sack and pretend to be potatoes so he wouldn't get carted off to the work camps.

All in all, Pearl Harbor Day is pretty important to me personally. Maybe not as "Pearl Harbor Day" but as "WWII Remembrance Day".
