Ok...so I think I noticed something weird. She loses her mother's necklace early on right? And...then Aang makes her a new one out of fishing line and a flower, I think. But when you see Katara in The Deserter, after all that happened, she has he mothers necklace on....
Im not sure if Ive just missed something, but I think thats the case...

You did miss something. In "Bato of the Water Tribe" Zuko has it, Aang fight him and get it back by beating Zuko in the same time.
