Who will win the Firebending genius Jeong Jeong or the Firebending prodigy Azula?

How to put this logically?

Ah. Jeong Jeong would be pwned.

Okay, I'll explain. Jeong Jeong isn't extraordinarily skilled at Firebending beyond what you'd probably expect from a veteran Fire Nation General. Add in his reluctance to fight and the fact that he's getting up there in years and he's not looking good compared to the expertly tutored, inteligent, and completely ruthless Azula. She wields blue fire and lighting to his red, tops him in agility and has an evil entusiam for her work that would put her on top in a heart beat.

Sure, Jeong Jeong could cut loose and possibly MATCH the little hellion, but that would not be like him and by the time he mustered that drive, Azula would have scored that critical hit or three which would put her on top.

Very well put Halaku. But I think that you're underestimating the old man. I men look at Iroh. He has to be one of the oldest men in the show yet he can get down with the best of them. I mean who's to say that Jeong Jeong doesn't have secret weapons in his arsenal a well.

Despite everything I just said I do however agree with you. Azula is too ruthless and vicious for him to be able to overcome her. Plus who's not to say she won't try some sneaky stuff like she pulled with Iroh.

Yeah, That's righ, Jeong Jeong is a good master Firebender but Azula is better than him. Jeong Jeong may know tricks or techniques in Firebending but Azula would certainly beat him. It's too bad she's from the Fire Nation, if she wasn't so evil, she would make a perfect character (a beautiful and powerful young girl in the right side)

Question: Did I miss an episode with Jeong Jeong in it or are we totally basing what his abilities are based on what we saw of him in "The Defector"?

If it is the former, please tell me the title of the ep! LOL

If it is the latter, we saw very little of Jeong Jeong's abilities and know nothing about his training, upbringing, etc. Therefore I agree with Lu Zong that Jeong Jeong is getting underestimated. I don't think you can put a value on age, wisdom, and experience. Furthermore, as he has served with/commanded/been on the run from an entire nation of ruthless fire soldiers both bender and non-bender, I doubt Azula's ruthlessness will be much of a surprise to him. She does have prodigy bending skills, but we don't know that Jeong Jeong can't bend lightning, we just have not seen him do it. Furthermore, if he has managed to develope a defensive fire-bending style, it may be unfamiliar and frustrating enough to get into Azula's head and off her top-game. And I don't think it would be so impossible to do as she freaked out over a hair out of place when she practiced because she wanted perfection. Azula strikes me as a control freak (Kind of the opposite of Zhou who had no control). Alter the situation enough so that it looks like she is loosing control and I could see her forget her teachings. However, the same lack of information about Jeong Jeong's skill may mean that I am over-estimating him. After-all, that same view of fire bending being a curse may have resulted in him becoming rusty in his abilities rather than creating a new skill with them...

Copper for your thoughts. :)

Jeong Jeong is a master, although he restrains and controls, if he went wild he would certainly cause some serious damage, though Azula is the clear winner, being younger, trained harder and much, much more ruthless and undeniably EVIL! Jeong Jeong is still cool though.

Jeong Jeong is an excellent firebender, and is cunning and intelligent. If he wasn't the chances of being a general are low unless hes family of some sort who usually get some perks.

Azula would win for sure in duel or battle between the two. Azula has what others have said "drive", she has a verystrong spirit and will, very clean cut mind and goals if she wants something done she'll be a vicious warrior, she is like a fierce wolf. Jeong Jeong is a calm man and tranquil a guy you think be a waterbender, a old tired bear of sorts. Jeong Jeong could fight against Azula and deflect maybe and defend against their ruthless attacks, but in a single battle with no running he would eventually get tired and be killed in a horrible death.

He probably escape though somehow, like I don't know set fire to a small patch of dry grass or smal group of trees then vanish/ecape.
