Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Application for Huu

*Crack*

The sound of steel on wood. A familiar but unwelcome sound. Sighing, Huu grabbed the bark mask he used in his "swamp thing" disguise.
"When will they ever learn?" he thought, rapidly bending vines around himself into the menacing beast he used to scare travellers. He disliked hurting people, but who would listen to a short, grey-haired old man? After all, not all people had the time to stop and listen to the wisdom of a wizened old waterbender. In fact, no one had listened, a far as he could remember. Except for Aang. He still remembered the day he fought Aang and shared his knowledge with the Avatar. "Time is an illusion, and so is death." His words echoed through his mind as he closed in on the sound. Halfway there, he stopped short. Fire Nation troops.
"How could they have found the swamp? Why are they here?" thoughts flew through his head. Changing course, he dashed to the village.
"We're under attack!" he shouted at Tho and Due.
"What? By who?" replied Tho.
"Firebenders! I'll go head them off!" Huu shouted back. Swinging through the trees he leapt over the troops, sending an armlike tangle of vines down to grab the rear officer. He let out an anguished grunt, then went limp.
"Monster!" shouted one of the officers."Call for reinforcements!" Within thirty seconds the area was full of troops and fire. Huu wondered if he had ever fought like this before, and in the back of his mind, if he would ever fight again.

Okay, several things that I'd like to say.

1) Your application isn't even going to be considered by the other Core Staff, due to the fact that you've neglected the first thing we ask you to do in the rules — capitalize your display name

2) Secondly, your application has a lot of godmoding in it. Very frowned upon in our forum.
3) Your sample does not meet the standards we at the Avatar RP have for our canon characters.

Keep yer chin up though, once you capitalize your name, other Core Staff will be here to give their opinions. My opinion, however, is no.

I suggest looking at the guidelines of the thread to see what you needed to have included in your sample. Also, take a gander at tthe Accepted applications for canon characters, and see what our standards are.

Well, this is my first time RPing. I would have put other stuff like that in my app, but I was worried about the " only an RP " rule.

1) All out of character posts must be at least 300 characters — about three and a half lines.
2) If you'd read the rules/application form post, you'd have realized that you were supposed to include it in the role play, to have woven it in. Again, I suggest you look at the new board below the canon applications board (called Accepted Canon Applications) to look at what we're looking for in Canon Role Players. You'll see that these applications have included those requirements in writing, instead of list form, as most are used to doing.

Also, I recommend you re-do your application after getting a look at the applications that have been accepted.

Why is there a character requirement for out of character posts? I'm normally not one to complain (no, really) but this site could use a smidgen of open-mindedness. I admit my application was about a mile below standard, but I've never been much of a writer. The only real reason I applied for a canon so soon was that I worried Huu would be taken. I'll try for an original character first. All of the apps seem to go on forever! Uggh, I need a scribe.

Okay then. The reason for the OOC post minimum is because we've had a lot of people just posting

"lol"

or some other random thing, and we were tired of it (Further Explanation in the FAQ). Anyway, there's an exception in the games boards.

Since you are going to do a canon character, I'm closing this thread.
