Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

The oldest person on the show is Guru Pathik at 150 years old, and King Bumi has 112 years under his belt and by the looks of it both don't show signs of stopping. So my question is just how old can people in the world of avatar get? I need to know to put it in my first character's profile. His grandfather was on of the Fire Nation Soldiers who attacked the Southern Air Temple at the beginning of the war. He eventually rose to become a master firebender, even achieving lighting generation, now would it be accurate that he be just as youthful as Bumi or would it be more common to be a frail and weak man at the age of 122?

To answer your question, it would be much MUCH More common to be frail and weak at age 122. There are a lot more frail old villagers than super-ultra enlightened gurus or ancient super insane (I mean genious) Earth Bending kings. They're only two characters, it's really not that common. This post has to be over 300 characters so I need one more sentence. There we go.

Actually there is another person who outlived those two, and many of the avatars. Avatar Kyoshi was by far the oldest person on the show, living roughly around for 230. Yes she is amazing =D As far as alive characters I would have to say that the Guru is the oldest, and I must agree on the fact that it looks as if nothing will slow him down. In all honesty I would think a man in his 100's would become very frail, but seeing that a benders body is some what more fit then a non bender it may be possible for those benders to become weaker at an older age. In my opinion I think you should make him frail, I'm sure if I was 122 that I wouldn't be walking around at all xD

I have to agree with Auka, and thanks for staying 300 characters ;D I will also move this to the Characters Discussion Board seeing that it's more focused around characters then the actual show =D

Clearly, this is suspension of disbelief. It is impossible for people to be that old. The human body literally stops working completely at the age of 120, regardless. Th oldest person in the world now is 115 (Edna Parker, and clearly she can't move around.

So! That means that humans are obviously not obeying the natural laws in the Avatarverse. That said, it would seem to me that bending is probably somehow spirit related, and that spirits apparently make people live incredibly long. Or something. So non-benders would live normal, benders a long time?
