ya see air's too evasive. technically he could trap them in a vortex tornado of air and dust spinning them around so fast that it'd rip the flesh of their skin cell by cell. (lovley picture in your mind now right. )

ya and as for earth. as soon as you knocked someone down all you had to do is wrap earth around their arms and legs then pin them up against a wall of earth using the earth around their hands and feet as restraints to prevent them from bending or well moving and u got em'. *prays i didn't give any enemy earthbenders any ideas and ignites hands just in case*

If your a firebender, you could heat your hands and legs to get rid of the earth, couldn't you?

no you could met it turning it to molten earth, lava, but then you'd loose controle because firebenders can't bend lava, only the avatar.

Well, if it did melt and become lava wouldn't it burn the firebender as well?

Yeah, probably, you could probably try to shoot the earth out. Like ignite your fists, then use that fire to shoot the earth out.

no we had a BIG discussion about this a while ago. (before u guys became members) and we decided that firebenders can't bend lava, just the fire that's shot out of it.
