Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Okay, not only is this thread to discuss the favorite combinations of the four elements, it is also to decide whether or not such combos can exist, do exist, what they would be like, and anything else that connects or divides different elements.

well from what we can see...No one can learn any more than one element except the avatar. I have no idea how people are chosen for their element, but maybe it's by their nation or laws or something. People are telling me you can't have more than one bending element so i was like okay since i can't argue, but i don't agree since they can't back it up.

NOW if there was allowances to such ideas i would choose water and fire

Fire has sheer destructive power and has various uses and extremely practical. Water to heal and it would make cooking a lot easier lol. Also the practicality with water is fairly high since a lot of things use water and or ice.

Wind eh....it's okay i haven't seen a huge use for it except to blow air around.

Earth would be nice one though. brutal and great for landscaping =D

Air and Water would be the absolute best combination for me.
I would totally rule on my little tropical island. With the combination of air and water, I could maintain a bubble of air around my head when underwater, and with ym waterbending ability I could 'fly' through the reefs. And then whenever I want to go places...all I need is the aid of a portal flight adapter (like an air glider) and I could be there in a snap. Of course I'd shift between travelling the world to snoozing one tropical island.
Ya ;D !!

^^wouldn't that kind of be redundant? You could just create an airbubble for when you go underwater with water bending just move the water. though i would like to fly, but more importantly i'd want to swim lol i can't swim so more advantages for me.

And tropical islands you could travel with just wander bending alone. Opposites would be better choice in my opinion, but wouldn't earth and water be incredibly interesting? You could control everything except the air and even then you'd have a pretty interesting time if you could lift mountains XD *avatar tatoos glow* wooosh fear me *glow goes away*

anyway.

Ya lol

Earth and Water would definitely be neat combination. I don't know why, but my first thought of a possible occupation is a medic...providing shelter and healing for the sick/weak.

But since you mentioned opposites, that would be cool. Being an air/earth bender, no doubt would dry land be the ultimate terrain.
Muahaha!

opposites are more versatile since they are meant to match each other's weaknesses.

Earth and air would be rather interesting though there's not much you can do with it =\

Earth you would be create on a military application lol. Air would probably strengthen that military app. Really i think Air and Earth bending are more for the combative levels. Water has healing, Fire can be used to light things. and yada yada

I beileve that Air and fire would do the best, since Fire relys on oxygen to survive and the more air blown into a spark could change the out come of a battle easy...

^^depending. The air you blow isn't 100% oxygen otherwise yes it would burn like crazy. There is far too many different non-flamable materials in our atmosphere which can cause fire to actually extinguish itself.

Think of it like a match. Light a match and blow on it really hard. Same concept. You'd have to master the perfect amount of fire and air bending. And even then it wouldn't be used at it's fullest because you can create fire already and manipulate it as is

I think water and earth would be the best because Earth overpowers all elements sort of... Earth can soak up water, plainly defend from air, and put out fire. I also like earth because of it's abilities with sand and rock. Water and earth are basically the same except come from different places, and earth can't heal. I like Earthbending for the power and Waterbending ... i can't put my finger on it.

^^just to note fire can take out water too lol. It's wierd people think that fire can't defeat water, but between water and fire it depends on who is stronger or greater in size that usually determines the winner of that battle.

Anyway i like your ideas. Though i'm a bit concerned on how accurate of an action we have with sand benders. Kind of like our 'plant benders' who just manipulate the water in a different way.

You know what I realized? The show is about ying and yang. So...

Obvious:
Fire is opposite of water
Air is opposite of earth

Interesting to note:
Sun is opposite of moon
Day is opposite of night

Probably didn't notice:
Airbenders learned airbending originally from bison. Ever wondered how Appa flew?
Earthbenders learned earthbending from badger-moles.
Earth is opposite of air, flying creatures are opposite of subbterranean creatures, aka bison/badger-moles

Also:
Sun is original fire bender: Solar flares
Moon original water bender: Tides
