I have always wondered about this, and have never found any true answer to it, but since Katara was the last Waterbender to leave the Southern Water Tribe, could this necessarily mean that her father was a Waterbender as well? Could this also mean that the Southern Water Tribe warriors have a few Waterbenders with them during their travels?
I also want to know how many of you would LOVE[/u] to be a Waterbender than any other element. Personally, I love the water. I would be a perfect Waterbender. I don't mean perfect as in the bending moves and everything, knowing my luck, I'd freeze my own behind, but I mean like loving the water and stuff. Yeah, I love looking at the moon and I love the ocean. I live near the ocean. It's absolutely my favorite place in the world!
So how about it?[/color]

Water = love. I would even chose waterbending over airbending had the last nation still existed. I don't know, there's just something about it that's soothing, healing, like the firebending master told Katara when they found out she had healing powers. Something about waterbenders (and water) being able to create and heal and soothe while fire can only destroy. ^_~

When it came to elements for online games, tabletop games, and fanfics, I always chose Ice. Since water is the closest thing to a pure ice element, water would have to be my choice. If I had to become a bender, I would be a water bender who specializes in using ice rather then water for attacks.

out of the four elements i would choose either water or fire. i'm not much of a water person considering i can't swim (cries) lol, but i don't hate water. I like fire because of the control you would need. It builds self discipline. also did anyone consider that if you were a fire bender you could pull the energy from a flame and destroy the fire?
I just thought about it.
thats my nickel for thoughts

Katara's father was a waterbender and he took all the Waterbenders from the South Pole to fight in the war so the people that remained at the South Pole are non-benders. For the second question, I would choose Fire to be my favorite element. Fire represnts power and superior force in which I happen to like*Maniacle laugh*. It also requires more training to master I believe and Firebenders have the same type of personality I have so fire is my favorite.

I think earth or water would be my favorite. I like adaptibility and water seems to adapt quite nicely to many situations. But from what my friends gather earth is what would best suit me cause I tend to be patient and understanding..... Yeah.... Rrriiiigggghhhht..... Anyway, water is cool.

Water is my favorite element, or fire, too. Water is just so awesome! I've been swimming since I was 3, and am competing on my swim team. What I would give to be a water bender..... That would be awesome. I don't think Katara's dad is a water bender, though..... Sorry.

It's a tough decision but I'd have to say that water would be my second choice. BUt if I was a water bender, I would never leave the water. If I could waterbend, my only other desire to would be to live on a tropical island. I could snorkle through coral reefs for the rest of my life and be the happiest person.
But I'm an airbender at heart ;D (prefering the sky over the waters). I think I could think of more creative things as an airbender than any other element.

Exactly, Kyro. I wouldn't leave the water either. A tropical island, or maybe, better yet, a secluded area in the forest with a waterfall. You know, like those kinds you see in those long-ago movies in ones such as Lord of the Rings and whatnot. Those places that are untouched. I would sleep under the stars and enjoy my life to the fullest, Waterbend every day, and all of that fun stuff! ^-^
I guess it is in my nature to love water. I was always brought up around water.
