Okay, we have all seen lightning bending in action by Azula and Iroh. Now a lot of you might say, when would you even get the time to use this? This is a very good question, really the only time you can is when your opponent doesn't expect it, doesn't even know your in the room. Or, If your opponent is knocked out, on the ground, or whatever like Zuko in Avatar State.
Here is my theory, eventually Azula wil be able to seperate the energy inside her body, and be able to just use lightning like fire, when she kicks lightning comes out of her foot. SO on and so forth. If the commet ends up coming I am scared about what Azula will be able to do. However, I do hope that she fully masters lightning and that is all she uses, since lightning is so much more exciting, and the charge up is abnoxious!

The key distinction between "bending" and just any regular form of elemental psychokinesis is that bending requires physical movement to initiate and aid the strike. As we saw in "Return to Omashu," Bumi was able to earthbend because he was able to move his face. So with that being said, physical movement is required to seperate the energies needed to form lightning. And once Lightning forms it can only be guided not controlled.

I personally think that Azula won't be able to bend lightning like fire. Iroh is a master firebender and even he can only shoot lightning from his fingertips because he even said it cannot be controlled, just guided. Lightning is powerful but fire can be controlled and they both have their pros and cons.

okay if lightning could be harnesssed then that bender would be unstopable. Did you see the distance that lightning went? I doubt any earth bender, water bender, air bender, or fire bender could cast their element that far. You'd be like the greatest assassin because you'd just attack from a distance and the damage would be lethal as is.
IF we lived in the world of Avatar yes someone would try learn to bend lightning, but since we don't the creators will not likely create a lightning bender

Yes I agree that it probablty can't happen, but I am just suggesting, that it would be pretty cool If Azula used lightning like fire, and just the energies were "split" autimatically, and then "guided" out through her fist foot, whatever, that would give the show a whole nex twist. Of course Aang would need to master lightning as well, or that would be really annoying!

Yeah, I agree with Takano. It would just be too damn powerful. Yes, maybe you could "guide" it through your foot, but then you would be unstoppable! Can water benders bend the water in their opponents body? Can earth benders...... um....... Never mind. Oh yeah, fire benders, if they're good, can harness lightning. Water benders, if they're good, can heal. What about air benders and earth benders?

Umm, maybe like air benders can make tornadoes or hurricanes, like is shown in the avatatar state, by the woman airbending avatar. And Earth, maybe you could mkae earthquakes. Possibly, just guesses don't really know. I don't necissarily think you would be unstopable if you learned how to lightning bend, it would just be like firebending except 50x more powerful. Well, I guess you would be unstopable, but the avatar could probably stop you. Because, obviously If some random person could master lightning by themselves than the avatar could. W/E guys I am not trying to argue with you I am just saying it would be cool.
Scenerio, Azula travels into the spirit world and plees with the spirits to make her the first lightning bender, she believes it is time for a new nation. Really she is just doning it to become very powerful. She gets her wish, and has offspring who can lightningbend. I smell a blockbuster, JKJK totally just ulled that whole story out of no where. Sorry for getting off topic.

im not arguing im stating what is logical. First unless you could bend lightning you'd be dead be struck by it. And if at the very list you would be paralyzed from the electricity running through your body. Now say you were an earth bender. Put up a defensive wall. 1) your wall would be destroyed 2) there is likely going to be a destructive explosion directly in front of you.
Then unless she allowed people to learn lightning bending she would (and her descendants) the super power for the rest of eternity unless some good soul decided to let the art die in their hands and let everyone move back to the 4 elements.
about airbenders, they already ca create tornadoes, but the scale needed to create a destructive tornado is much higher than anyone and if anything the avatar alone could create it. Same goes for the earth quake. Lightning would still be far more dangerous than a tornado or an earth quake. Tornados have to be maintained, and only person can do it. the avatar. Lightning if was made Azula could be the mother of 10 children create a small army and BOOM every nation falls to her.
