Can my character denmar bend darkness? I want to know because I haven't made a character yet and I need to know if i'm allowed to make him a darkness bender so I can put in my character's summary if he can or not.

i don't think so. So far i havn't seen any RPers that have bent beyond the 4 elements. 1) darkness would be incredibly powerful at night. So i doubt. My suggestion is don't make new elements to RP on. Read the Rules there is probably something about that in there. And if still don't get an answer talk to an admin or mod or post in the help center

I seriously doubt that this will be allowed. Im fairly new to the board, but with my accumulated experiance at other rping boards, administration doesn't like to stray from the original storyline like that by introducing new elements not part of the original set. Its a fairly cool concept, regardless. I have an Avatar fanfiction concept (as in I've been too lazy to write down anything) about a bender of darkness, though I called it Shadowbending, but that's beside the point.
Try asking, but its highly doubtful.

For my part as a staff member, I can pretty much assure you that you cannot bend darkness. I will bring it up with the rest of the staff, but darkness is not an element of nature, like fire earth water and air are. You should probably think of some other options, which I assume you have since I saw that you posted in Character Development.

Why would you want to bend Darkness anyways? Sounds like a stupid concept.
For one, Darkness is not a tangible, substantial object. There isn't an "amount" of darkness or a "presense" of darkness. Darkness doesn't exist, shadows don't exist. They're basically holes, you can't bend a hole because it's an absense of dirt, not an actual physical thing. Same goes for darkness.
Since light is actually our mind interpretting and creating an image with the white light our eyes capture (and some infrared) darkness is just our eyes not catching any light from that location.
So, theoretically, a darkness bender, if there was such thing, would be a play on words. It'd be a light bender, who's taking light AWAY so you can't see, thus creating darkness.
I mean you could play a darkness bender. Just gouge their eyes out. Voila, you've bent darkness over their vision.
