I decided to write fully on my odd form of Firebending, tell me what you think.

This style is the style Hanabi uses instead of normal Firebending, it has a lot less techniques and most of the techniques are a lot more cumbersome to use, this form is more centered on heat and less on convection then normal Firebending, Hanabi has Mastered Basic and is learning the high end Moderate part of the Style.

Hanabi because of this style cannot use any normal Firebending techniques, she could probably light a candle like normal, but the effort to build fire in they way would tire her.

Hanabi has a few variations on any technique she learns, but these are the basic originals, the teachings and foundations. The most powerful moves of the style.
—-

The scroll is an ornate scroll with no apparent crest.

Inside of it are the teachings of how to perform a strange style of Firebending.

Firebending: The Quivering Flame.

This unique Firebending Style is based entirely on the gathering of heat from anything that its user can project there chi into.

It is a bizarre style that is slower then normal Firebending and often leaves the user in a state of vulnerability which is why it is not widely practiced, because many see its weakness as far greater then its advantage, here are the bases of the technique.

Style Essential Technique: Gathering.

Gathering is the most important part of this style to learn, the user focuses inwards drawing on there breath to create the normal heat, and then they pull deeper into the vary heat of there own body moving the heat from there body into the place they are going to project the flame from.

All of the heat gathered is held at the center of the bender where it is maintained in the gut and held by there breath so the heat doesn’t spread away as it normally would if not expended.

This is why it is called the Quivering Flame, because often times the bender will throw them self into a state of hypothermia.

Despite the users current state of hypothermia they are not any more vulnerable then normal to sudden temperature shock from heat mainly because they are pulling all heat in and on and sometimes around themselves inwards.

The user can also extend his Chi pulling the heat from around himself in his environment to increase the power of there flame, hotter environments are best for this as there is more heat to pull.

Gathering has a strange effect, anyone who where to touch the Firebender would feel that they where as cold as if they had just got out of a freezing pool, also they have a hint as to the Firebenders gathering of heat as the temperature of the environment will drop several degree’s if they are indoors or the bender is a total master of the style.

On another note, without this form of gathering all of the other techniques in this style are a lot harder or impossible to execute.

The gathering technique can be used to block tiny fire attacks with the user’s hands by absorbing the heat from the enemy’s fire, in effect not only dissolving there flame, but making the heat from it your own.

Basic Style Technique: Heated Hands.

The next part of the style is pushing the gathered heat into the user’s hands and if they desire there feet, the two easiest places in the body to expel fire from, the effect will be that there hands will become burning hot like fire allowing for a multitude of uses in combat and other areas. The user can cause burns without conjuring a flame by grabbing an opponent.

The advantage and disadvantage of this is equal, on the advantageous side the opponent won’t see a flame so they probably won’t be prepared for the user’s initial attack and will probably get a nasty burn that they will remember for a while.

The Primary Way of Defense is heating of the hands and the equalization in temperature toward the high end would allow them to deflect most basic Firebender attacks such as a cone or a basic ball.
Be warned that this doesn’t always work for the best as some Firebending gets far hotter then the heating hands normally handles, you need to decide your defense wisely as to much heat in the hands of someone new to the style could cause just as bad burns as if the flame hit in the first place.

The Second Way of Defense is that the uses can use this in tandem with there gathering to absorb Firebending attacks that are larger and hotter then normal gathering would allow on its own, mainly because the user gathers the heat and rises there own temperature on there hands when they block allowing them to absorb the extra heat instead of being overwhelmed.
This way requires a lot more skill and requires the user expend there own chi to block, but it is a far more sturdy defense to those whom have mastered it.

The disadvantage of this technique is that the heat gathered in the hand is a lot harder to expel making it so they cannot throw a flame while using this technique limiting them to extreme close quarters combat.
A single techneque, the pounding line can be used to increase and implement a range attack with the Heated Hands.

In navigation such as climbing and grabbing it is probably the best technique; the massive heat from the hands incinerates most friction reducing layers they grab, such as moss or water allowing them a solid grip on even the wettest and mossiest of stones.

Basic Style Technique: The Large Ball.

The large ball is different then the Heated Hands as the user takes the gathered heat and slowly convexes it into a large ball of flame that takes a bit longer to gather.

The difference however is a stronger flame that is almost impossible to be stopped in flight, it takes twice as long and a lot more energy to gather then a normal fireball, but its power is three times greater then a normal fireball.

Some logic says “Wouldn’t the three faster fireballs be better?” and in a lot of cases that is a yes, but this technique is a lot stronger then normal for the purpose of battering through lesser defenses, a whip of water from a Waterbender can dispel a lot of flame, but when gathered at this magnitude only an actual shielding technique can block this ball of fire.

Basic Style Technique: Desert Survival.

Deserts are places of great heat and while advantageous in a single battle can hinder greatly one ones level of water, the heat causes the water in the body to come out as perspiration, this technique was designed to make Desert Survival easier.

It is in basic the same technique as the gathering except the Firebender expels the heat he gathers from his body outward into the environment cooling the temperature of his body to a normalized level making the hottest of deserts or lava lands no longer impossible to survive in.

The key here is to gather heat while not tapping your breath, tapping your breath will build up your own heat and should be reserved for combat, as using your breath may cause you to overheat for such a light technique.

To practice without endangering yourself you should inhale a breath of air, focus on it and pull the heat from the air, then exhale your cooled breath, don’t pull to much heat or you risk cooling your lungs to a dangerous level and could cause asphyxiation.

This technique is not a combat technique, if someone tried to cool air to the point there breath would effect another person they would cool the center of themselves effectively stopping there own heart.

The actual technique is a reverse of the exercise; you inhale a breath, put your heat into your lungs then exhale the heat from your body cooling yourself.

On another note, in theory you could use this to breath fire, but unless your control is at a master level then you will probably burn out your own lungs before even spitting out anything threatening.

Moderate Level Technique: External Gathering.

The user must again have mastered the basic gathering to use External Gathering.

External Gathering is a technique where the user gathers the heat from the air around them at a faster rate without tapping into there own body’s reserves.

This technique allows for the same sort of techniques as the normal gathering, but to get enough heat usually takes twice as long, as a Firebenders internal reserves are there strongest place to pull heat from.

It is advisable to not use this unless you have time to gather, it takes a lot of focus and is harder to do, the only area a Firebender could probably use this in close combat would be near extreme heat.

If the user sees a large flame coming towards them and they have enough Chi, they can absorb the heat from the projected object, how much they can pull depends entirely on how much chi they have.

In estimation a person who has just learned this technique and is a moderately good Firebender could throw ‘The Large Ball’ in twice the normal time stated in that technique, while a master of the style could probably not have there time impacted.

Moderate Level Technique: Pounding Line.

The user gathers vary slowly over a huge amount of time into a single hand heat tell there hand itself is red and beginning to receive burns from the heat gathered inside of it and then they root them self and release the flame forward feeding it energy and not letting it all out at once.

The result is a massive stream of fire about three feet in diameter that will shoot and a slightly slower then normal pace towards there target. The advantage is that the beam can breach almost any bender made defense risible, but its slow gathering speed combined with its slow projection and the user being forced to keep his feet rooted when he moves to fire.

This isn't always a disadvantage, having that much heat gathered in your hand if you grab a person could leave devastating burns.

The user takes careful aim and they release the heat he gathered taking about a second for the flame to suddenly pound from his hand towards its intended target, the power of the flame means its not only strong, but it will be moving through the air fast as well.

This technique is dangerous because if the Firebender looses rooting when the attack finishes leaving there hand the attacks pressure will throw the Firebender onto there back and there remaining energy if enough is left could explode in there palm giving them a massive burn and leaving there entire arm paralyzed for a season, or if enough heat is gathered, totally incinerate the forearm and hand.

The time taken to gather for a person who has just reached the skill to use this technique would be about 40 seconds, while a true master of the style could muster this attack in 10 seconds, the time taken to actually project the gathered heat from the hand into the line itself takes about 4 seconds, a master could probably get the line thrown in 1 second.

High Level Technique: The Rapid Fire.

The Firebender must have gathered a huge amount of energy and have it all gathered into there shoulders, gathering the heat should take 10 seconds for anyone able to do this technique, and 10 more seconds to relocate the flame to there shoulders, the time of fireing lasts 20 seconds total.

They must take rather careful aim as the technique is a speedy and reckless one, once they are sure of there aim they project the heat gathered in there shoulders down there arm in bursts about a third the size of a normal fireball, the result is that they will shoot from each hand a large number of small weaker fireballs in the direction they aimed at a really high speed.

The way it works and the reason it is gathered in the shoulders is because pulling the flame down the arm lengthens each flame into a small line allowing it to cut through the air faster at the cost of power.

This technique has the disadvantage, the constant flowing of the fire takes massive amounts of concentration, and the projection of the technique is bright and flashy and the repeated flashing of each fireball emerging makes keeping a good aim rather hard.

The other disadvantage is the quickly summoned weak flames will breach on any barrier doing vary little or no damage at all.

High Level Technique: The Rapid Flash.

This attack is made from The Rapid Fire, the original idea was to gather more and more energy in the shoulders to provide extra power to the original attack, but the body can't keep that many flames focused and the result is a technique in itself.

The Rapid Flash is made when more energy is gathered then can be channeled by The Rapid Fire, the result is that when the flame leaves the hand they explode on contact with the air in many blindingly bright flashes.

The use of this technique should be obvious, the opponent is focused and watching every move you make to dodge and then you use the Rapid Flash to force his attention away or possibly blind him for a few seconds.

This techneque of corse has its best effect at night.

High Level Technique: The Quivering Flame.

The Firebender has mastered gathering to a degree that they can pull the heat from an entire room or a 10 foot radius around themselves outdoors with faster speed at the expenditure of extra Chi.

The effect is that for twice the normal cost, the Firebender can gather any of there techniques in half the time needed, that or if the normal time is spent; gather enough energy to make the attack with twice the normal amount of power it normally packs.

On the other hand you can use this form of gathering with the basic and the breath and twice the amount of time needed to gather a fearsome technique that is four times stronger then its basic counterpart.

On another note, when used it is also a good way to intimidate an opponent, as they probably won’t know why the room is getting cold, you can use this to try and gain a mental advantage.

Master Technique: The Frozen Flame Palm.

For an extreme amount of Chi in there attempt the Firebender will strike an opponent hard in the chest and execute the gathering technique on them.

The user needs a lot more Chi to do this as they have to breach an opponents Chi to use this technique, making the worst people to use this on, the people with the most Chi.

The Gathering Technique is executed by a sudden palm thrust into the opponent, its effects vary, but the theory is simple, to gather heat from inside the opponents body.

The first palm thrust generally sends a fierce chill down the opponent as there surface warmth is pulled into the users palm; this causes chills and in less focused warriors can cause severe trembling.

The second time the user strikes his palm his opponents get some of there center warmth stolen, this is a larger amount of heat causing the opponent to enter the first stages of Hypothermia, if used on people who are not healthy any state of Hypothermia can end in death if not treated.

Most master’s don’t have enough energy to execute the palm a third time on an enemy, but the originator of the style had that much energy, when the third strike of the palm hits, the opponents core warmth will get pulled on, chilling them to the bone, putting them on the latter end of Hypothermia, only the healthiest, luckiest and most determined can survive after this strike, but if it lands, chances are the battle is over.

No one has ever managed to make a fourth strike.

In battle this technique has its severe advantage, but a few key weakness' as well.

If the battle carries on for more then 20 minutes then an opponent that had only been hit with the first palm will no longer be so chilled that they are hindered.

If the second palm hits however they will need to take action to start a recovery and they won't be able to recover during the battle and any hindering effects of the palms will be close to unshakable.

The only way known to combat this is a Firebender rising there own core temperature to counter the cold, sense self warming is a basic technique of Firebending it makes this move a rather bad choice against another Firebender.

Master Technique: Belly of the Inferno.

This technique is a dangerous one where the user gathers every ounce of heat they have available to them, in themselves, the environment and there breath and press it into there outer skin.

The users skin will turn read and all moisture on there skin will be instantly evaporated, as the energy continues to gather the heat will get higher and high and the Firebender will catch in a mighty blaze, there chi and raw heat as the fires food, the fire will continue to grow the more energy its fed until the Firebender is as hot as a blazing inferno making approaching them the same as approaching a bonfire.

This techniques main flaw is the user is pulling so much to keep themselves from being burned physically as fuel that they throw them self into a state of Hypothermia on the inside, the flames of that heat will only last so long, and while gathered all fire techniques one try’s to use take only half the time to gather energy for.

It’s an Ironic technique, the Firebender appears to be burning in a great inferno, but in truth they are actually freezing to death.

The final part of this technique, the user when the bonfire can get no hotter pulls all of the fire suddenly into themselves, there body being consumed as fuel and there entire body is incinerated and they explode in a massive blast that can disintegrate anything within 10 feet of the Firebender, also anything within 10 feet of that will get terrible third degree burns.

Notes on the Style

This style while useful in combat was originated as a form of all environment survival for the most hostile of environments, with warmth stealing techniques that where originally made for use on animals to prevent the cold from getting to the user.

Those who read this scroll and practice its teachings should never forget that this should not be misused, and the later end techniques should only be used to save your life.

The Final Technique should only be used when dieing to protect something. Or if you wish to die.

You have a rather unique and interesting idea going here. Most of it seems to have situational uses though (extreme heat or cold conditions being the most prevalent).

In a lot of of the styles you mention a vague reference to time it takes to use (The large ball is the only one you give specifics on). I would suggest using existing moves as a basis for time with the rest of them as well. Also a note on just how easy each to perform is. I see you have them broken down by basic, moderate, and high level, but how much does each take out of you? Even just giving each a rating system could be useful (perhaps a nine point system giving three numbers to each one to represent how much energy it takes to use ...or giving a percentage of about how much it would take of a master benders reserve).

Given how quick a bender can hurl a fireball, if most of the moves only take two - three times longer that wouldn't be much of a disadvantage as your bending would be close in comparison to an earth-benders (slower but stronger in force).

Thats just my opinions from reading it over once. Time is an erratic commodity for me and so if I get a chance I'll try and read it over again and give an opinion about specific moves.

Thanks, I would like that alot.

Time largely also depends on the bender and there skill as it says, the ranks say the amount of skill a bender would need to be able to have the control and energy needed to do the techneque.

The writing I made was also the Written Scroll of the Techneques that Hanabi carry's on her so its somewhat vague.

I can understand the vagueness if thats the written version of the scroll, but I would still consider putting some indication as to time and power on the others. I also understand that time and energy does vary based on ones skill, but I would reference it all in relation to a master of the style and just assume that any who use it will be slower than the marked time. Or refer it to a moderate level user, but then you have a greater deal of time fluctuation. I just think it would make it easier for you and anyone fighting against you to have something to relate to how long it takes to perform.

Of course the ones used out of combat wouldn't really need a time indication as one can assume its just too slow to use in battle, but the ones used in combat should have some indication so that the bender has an idea of what she's getting into ^_-
Or at the very least put a non-scroll note on it to let viewers know in case someone else wants to (presumably with your permission) adapt to your unique style.

Thats about all the time I have right now, but my weekend is coming up soon so I will either have ample time to go over it all in more detail or hardly even any time to get on the comp (There really isn't much of a middle ground for me ^^). If nothing else I should be able to on Monday for sure ^_^

Okay, I modifyed it again, this time I added more specifics on time required for roughly the level of skill required.

High level techniques even a master can't cut the time required down to use the techniques.

You also must remember the basic strength of a person flame is not totaly inanimate either, some people naturaly have hotter faster fire then others, Like Azula and Zuko, for this example.

Zuko using this could probably match in Raw Power the fire Azula throws, but she would have the advantage of speed combined with the fact that there power would be identical, also if Azula used this it would be indeed a powerful spectical.

But you are correct, this is largely like high level earthbending in principle, the Waiting, Gathering and the Listening and Watching for the right moment, along with the slower and more powerful attacks.

It also is a tiny bit like Airbending in that it gathers alot of its power from outside its user, after all, heat is as abundent as air at times.

Well, due to over-sleeping today I am still wide awake. The good news is that it means I have time to go through each style on a detailed basis ^_^

I feel I should point out that everything I suggest is just merely my own personal opinion. I am still fairly new to this site and have no authority to approve anything for game use (nor do I know who or if it even is required). With that said here are my ideas:

Style Essential Technique: Gathering.

Two notes on this aspect. First is that in this style and in heated Hands you mention learning to push the gathered heat into a specific spot. Perhaps this style should only focus on gathering the heat into one spot of your body (perhaps your lungs since fire-bending draws on the breath for control). Once you gather the heat there the style would focus on learning to hold and maintain it for as long as possible. Perhaps going so far as to learn how to release it safely back to the rest of your body. If you agree with this point then ignore point two as it would better fit with the heated hands style.

Secondly, at the end of this style you say the user can block tiny fire attacks. Personally I don't see how it would block them (unless possibly by focusing the heat to where your blocking it at). Since your body becomes chilled, the fire attack would make sense to have a greater effect on you (imagine running hot water over your hands after playing in the snow for a couple hours). To me it would make more sense to change the line to read something like this:

The gathering techneque can be used to block tiny fire attacks with the users hands by focusing on that spot and quickly absorbing the heat from the attack. Larger flames are just too grand in size to be able to fully absorb before the impact hits you.

Perhaps a master might even be able to absorb larger flames (especially when using the move that sets you on fire ^_-)

Basic Style Technique: Heated Hands.

I like the note on the styles use for climbing! Who needs a paper shredder when you can just incinerate it!! ^^

Depending on what method you prefer of being able to block fire attacks, you could probably even go so far as to say that having all the heat focused on your hands allows them to easily block many fire attacks without being burned (as you would need to get hit by a flame hotter than the temperature your hands are at).

Another idea could be to say that by combining the first two styles the user is able to block an incoming fire attack and then absorb the heat from it before it dissipates into the air. I actually like this version best of all as it plays on the need to combine styles to create greater effects. The combination could possibly even have an added benefit of making it a little easier to shift into the Large Ball style.

Basic Style Technique: The Large Ball.

This style looks good to me as is. I just picture a really big, bright fireball heading towards a (now sweating) water-bender who has just realized there whip had no effect on it ^_^

Basic Style Technique: Desert Survival.

While the nature of this move is useful for sure, the details almost seem to have the opposite effect than what its name implies. Its meant to help one survive the desert, but if you use it you now risk dehydrating instead. So now you can either not use the style and plan on a way to combat the heat, or you can use the style and bring a ton extra water. Which is the lesser evil?

The way this is phrased indicates that you wanted it to be useful as a way to save one in an emergency (like an unplanned trip to a dessert or volcano). As such you wouldn't be ready for either situation. Although in the description you mention is being meant to make survival easier (As such I'm not 100% sure of what you wanted, but I'll try to aid with a couple options). I would suggest either removing the risk of dehydration (This would make it more applicable and thus desert survival would truly be easier), or perhaps reduce the severity of the risk. Perhaps say you can safely use the technique every 30-60 minutes without any adverse effect on your body, but using it more often would have the full effects that you had already mentioned.

On another note, perhaps an idea of it could be put in reverse allowing survival in arctic conditions to be possible. Due to the more challenging nature of gathering heat from outside your body (especially when in an environment where there is already little heat) you would have to be at least moderate skill level (perhaps higher since external gathering is already a moderate style) and, unless your a grand-master, the presence of a heat source would be required (small fire created by using the large ball perhaps [Yup, back to combining styles again ^^]).

Moderate Level Technique: External Gathering.

This one also seems pretty good as is. I like the part of giving the time estimation via another style of this art^^

Moderate Level Technique: Pounding Line.

I realize this is suppose to be a really powerful attack, thus the slow speed of it, but the fact that your completely immobile makes it almost useless. A single side-step could completely evade it. I'd suggest allowing the bender to alter his facing to be able to track anyone who wishes to side-step it. Simply say they can move, but there movements are slow as the stance must be maintained, essentially requiring one to take two steps for every step of progression they wish to make (one separate step with each foot [moving both together would disrupt the form causing bad stuff back to you] to alter direction or whatnot.)

High Level Technique: Rapid Fire.

This one is nicely done as well. The only suggestion I can come up with is perhaps having a way to take longer to gather the energy to give more power to the flames (Probably no greater than half the power of a normal fireball as when combined with the quivering flame you can get an attack thats as strong to twice as powerful as a normal fireball), or mentioning something about it being possibly to stop the attack part way through with the exertion of extra effort. This would allow the bender to at least save some of the energy if they realize their opponent has managed to erect a barrier. Possibly then getting a few more rapid bursts off after the opponent responds with an attack.

High Level Technique: The Quivering Flame.

Nicely done here, and a scary thought to be facing someone able to do this (the way it should be when facing someone of near master level).

Master Technique: The Frozen Flame Palm.

Its like baseball, three strikes and your out!

As not all battles are finished over a short period of time I would suggest making notes on recovery times. Perhaps recovering from the first strike would only take 20-30 minutes (Akin to how long it might take to warm up were you to go outside for a few minutes in the middle of winter).

A second strike within that time frame would then bring about stage two effects. Those effects, being more severe, would likely last for two or three hours (Time variations based on what measures are taken to recover heat...if any). After the elapsed time they return to stage 1 effects for another 20-30 minutes before there fully recovered.

A third hit within that two or three hours brings them to stage three. If they survive here they would most likely suffer for two to three days before moving down to stage two and then stage one.

The only other thing I could suggest is, while its largely unneeded as imagination could fill in the blank, to add a part (for those less inclined on the imaginative side) hinting what could happen with a fourth hit [Frozen death, possibly frozen alive, etc...]

Master Technique: Belly of the Inferno.

I got the marshmallows if you have the bonfire!

The only thing I could add to this one is that in order for it to have been created and recorded someone must have performed it in the past and survived. Now the choice comes to be, did they choose to divulge that or to leave it for only the smart ones to figure out. Perhaps they left a clue as to how to survive the attack. Or they could have just had a cruel sense of humor and left the secrets of the style with no indication of how to survive ^^

Okay, that was a lot more than i thought it would have been (Ideas just kept coming as I read on ^^). All I can say now is that I hope they help and just take what you like of it ^_^
Since your gone till Sunday I'll probably re-check this board on Monday to see your take on everything (after all, creating and editing styles always takes more than one step ^_-)

Okay I took your advice for the most part.

As far as the end and how someone would know the exact effect of that technique, thats a secret that was told to Hanabi by her Father, its not in a scroll.

I made quite a few changes and added a new move based on your advice for the Rapid Fire.

So you should probably reread the whole thing, I removed the fonting untell I feel satisfied about it being done.
