Ok, I understand now. That makes sense and that is what I assumed it meant. The kick I was referiing to in the middle paragraph of my post was the "Horse Stance Kick - Front." The motion just felt somewhat alien to my body.

The front kicks do feel a bit odd, until you practice it often; for me, it still feels a bit strange to kick out front like that. >.<

Anyway, I'll have the **rest** of the first lesson posted soon; then, I'll move on to lesson two, which, thankfully, is shorter than the first.

w00t! Today is the day I get my uniform! *happy kung fu dance*

Okay, where were we? Oh yes. Kicking. Well, those are all the kicks I've learned so far in Horse Stance, so let's move onto something more complicated! Yay, complication!

~*~*~

This next move is actually a series of moves to be repeated in groups of three. I recommend three sets (a total of nine) in each direction. This is actually the second form of the moves, and, consequently the only one I learned.

Remember to stretch!

Tan Toi - 2
[/u]
~ Start out in ready stance
~ Move your left arm to your right side in an arc, resting your left hand under your right armpit. Make sure your hand is palm out, and a few inches away from your body.
~ Punch out (gently at first) with your right hand, making sure that your hand is fisted palm-down, and your elbow is slightly bent.
~ In one fluid motion, make a "c" shape facing the opposite direction. Your right arm should be in an arc above your head, and your left arm should be in an arc by your waist. At the same time, bring your left leg up, bending it at the knee.
~ Quickly, bring your leg down into Horse Stance, making sure your legs are shoulder width apart. Punch out with your left arm, palm down, and bring your right arm in to "ready" position, fist palm up. (NOTE: Your toes should be facing front.)
~ Next, turn your whole body to the left, staying in horse stance. Do this by turning on the balls of your feet. At the same time, punch out with your right arm, fist palm down, bringing your left hand to the "ready" position, fist palm up.
~ Bring yourself to an upright position; you right leg should come up, bent at the knee. Kick out with your right foot and punch simultaniously with your left fist. Your right hand should be at the ready.
~ HOLD THAT POSE! (three seconds)
~ Drop your leg (gently) down so that you wind up in horse stance, about face from your orignal position. Simultaniously punch out with your right fist, elbow slightly bent, palm down. Left arm should be at ready position.
~ Repeat from step four.
~ Repeat again from step four.
~ After completing the last step, bring your left leg to your right, standing up straight and bringing your arms to the ready position. Repeat step one.

NOTE: To do the left side of your body, just reverse all the movements. ^-^

~*End Lesson One*~

That was fun, wasnt it? And that was complicated, I know. Took me ten tries to get the darned thing right! I'll post up pictures when I get home. Teehee, you'll all see me in Kung Fu garb! w00t w00t!

EDIT: Today's lesson (Lesson 2 for you guys) is "Li Pi Chien," or however you spell it. >.<* In any case, that's Praying Mantis Style. Yahoo![/color]

Well, we didnt learn preying mantis style, and I am most unhappy. T__T
We did, however learn Tan Toi Five, which is just a slight variation of Tan Toi Two. Ready?

DONT FORGET TO STRETCH!

Tan Toi 5

~ Next, turn your whole body to the left, staying in horse stance. Do this by turning on the balls of your feet. At the same time, swing your left arm up in a semi-arc, as if "wax off, wax on" punching simulaniously with your right hand
~ Turn your right hand from a punch, to an upright fist, bending at the elbow. The turn should be in a circular motion; it's called "circle punch"
~ Bring yourself to an upright position; you right leg should come up, bent at the knee. Kick out with your right foot , both arms coming in in a sort of ready stance, adding emphasis to your kick.

This looks rather interesting. I've taken Wushu before, but it's a little different from Shaolin Kung Fu. Well, we generally use a weapon to fight, not with our body. I'm rather intrigued by the fact that fans of Avatar would actually try the actual Bending moves! I think I shall try Tan Toi 5, although I need to start with all the warm-ups...Argh. I hate warm-ups...x((

This is really fantastic! Now all you need is the fire...xD
