A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Lol, I found the link for the show, but I haven't had the time to watch it. Oh well, I saw one part and it seemed pretty cool. The sandbenders are interesting and the owl looks cool.

Um....Maybe because they could not bend rock, while Toph could bend both, sand and rock. Thats most likely the reason.

WARNING! Posts need to be over 200 characters long and reasonably on topic. You have been warned.
And the sandbender thing, in my mind, is like the northren vs. southren Water Tribe labels. Region determines identity. The Sand Benders specilized in Bending sand, a form of Earth that even Toph seemed to have difficulty wielding to her normal levels of effectiveness. Heck, as Kieda said, sand is more like water than earth... *gives props to Kieda*

this was a really interesting set of episodes. It was soooo funny when Sokka tripped out, and the sadbenders totally made me think of Kieda. but man, is it just me, or did Aang seem to be PMSing? He was so pissy in the second episode...

I was...kinda afraid of Aang in the second episode...no, not afraid but sad for him. I understand his feelings. It's like if he lost a part of himself. Sokka was really hilarious when he drunk the cactus juice. Oh, and the Sandbenders can only bend sand because of the environment where they live. There is only sand in the Si Wong Desert (and a huge magnetized rock in the center) so the sandbenders had to adapt their bending to the situation. Toph could bend sand because she learnt how to bend all type of Earth. I hope they're gonna give the date of the next solar eclipse to Ba Sing Se (Aang is gonna get Appa back, that's obvious).

one other thing that I thought was rather cool, was that now everyone is heading to Ba Sing Se. Aang's group, Zuko and Iroh, the 2 guys hunting Toph, and probably Azula's gang. It's going to be one hell of a standoff, maybe new alliances will form, like maybe the 2 earthbenders siding with Azula (maybe) or Zuko and Iroh joining the Avatar to teach him firebending.

I enjoyed watching these two episodes for various reasons.

1.) "The Library" was downright hilarious. I loved it when Sokka said, "Well la dee da!" and the singing prarie dogs popped up in tune. Toph's prank about spotting the library was another one that was already mentioned. The owl spirit's jab at Sokka was another already mentioned line, though I think my favorite may have been when Katara readied herself to fight the spirit and he stated (and I am paraphrasing slightly), "Your bending will do you no good. I have studied Northern Water Style, Southern Water Style, even Swamp Backwater Style." Sokka jumps down striking the spirit on the head. "Ha! That's SOKKA style!" :)

2.) "The Library" also left a bad taste in my mouth for the group, particularly Sokka and Aang. How so? They told the owl spirit a boldfaced lie. Perhaps I am a Pollianna optimist, but I think had they honestly discussed with the spirit the fact that they were just trying to defeat the Firelord to restore balance, it would have seen the wisdom in assisting them. All hope of that was lost when Sokka lied. What was worse, was that Aang cheapened his word as the Avatar by supporting that lie. So why do I have it listed as enjoying the episode? Because it makes them more real. Though I am still annoyed that the preview spoke of a great evil and had the owl spirit shown as being that evil.

3) It was mentioned about the owl spirit not moving very owl-like when it attacked. I think it was purposeful and I liked it as it gave the feel of the sperpentine ability to strike without warning 360 degrees around that is so dangerous. It was also consistent with the spirits changing form when angered that we saw with the Panda spirit and the Sea spirit.

4) "The Desert" also had some very funny moments, mainly with Uncle Iroh. I loved it when he seriously pondered where he could find some friends who WEREN'T trying to kill him. Of course Iroh is my favorite character in the series so any episode with him in it is hard-pressed to go wrong! :D

5) Sokka and Momo on the cactus juice was quite funny as well. As was Toph being so overjoyed to be on solid rock that she made a rock angel! :P

6) I have seen Aang in the Avatar State several times before, but for some reason this time with it taking hold of him and him demanding in that other-wordly voice where Appa is it was more impactful. Anyone else think so?

7) I also think "The Desert" has some beginning depth for future episodes to dig deeper into as well. Most notably the fact that Aang killed that vulturewasp. Not a big deal for most, but as I recall from another episode Aang (and presumably all Air Nomads) valued life so much that he was even a vegetarian. Now he has strayed from that path by killing a creature that was only acting according to its nature and well after Momo was free from danger. We also have yet to see what happened to the sandbenders after his fit of anger (Though it is safe to say they will not be seriously harmed)... Regardless, I could easily see him having some things to deal with in regards to his behavior once the pressing issue of locating and freeing Appa is no longer present.

Copper for your thoughts? :)

they called it a "movie" but in reality it was two episodes stuck right next to eachother to fill an hour block.

my thoughts: the library was funny and that owl thing was freakin awesome.

the desert: Aang getting all crazy on those sandbenders was kickass. when katara hugged him...sigh romance BS *hides from kataang fans* but why wasnt she blown back by his mighty wind (snicker) like the others?
i hope they get Appa back! or i dont, if it means more insane avatar state craziness...

I LOVE the part when Aang said:
"Seeing that family so happy together made me think about how I feel about Appa, how I feel about you." to Katara! It made me cry. They are in love, right?

Yeah Sokka is pretty bright. Just loony when he drinks too much cactus juice. One question. Are Aang and Katara in love? That one part after the lady gave birth in the morning, Aang said that thing that made me cry.

One question. Are Aang and Katara in love? That one part after the lady gave birth in the morning, Aang said that thing that made me cry.

Prior to seeing the two Secret of the Fire Nation episodes, I read several posts about how Aang would share his feelings for Katara, she reciprocated them, etc. etc. etc. Frankly, I was not pleased as I am not a fan of a Katara and Aang romance or any other romance in point of fact. Once I saw the episodes, however, I came away with a different interpretation than the one I had read.

Look at the quote again, he said seeing the family so happy together made him think about how he feels about Appa and Katara. What type of love is that? I would place it under the category of Platonic love as opposed to Erotic love that many others seem to be viewing it as. What is the difference? Platonic love is the love that friends and family have for eachother and does not involve physical/sexual attraction. Erotic love would be the love that is shared between couples, whether married or courting and does involve physical/sexual attraction.

I am going to go out on a limb and say with certainty that Aang's love for Appa is NOT Erotic in nature and since he included Appa in his statement to Katara, I am of the opinion that she took it to mean he sees her as family. Given the fact that she has been motherly to him since day one, it does not surprise me that she got teary eyed and gave him a hug.

Copper for your thoughts. :)

Dang. That's too bad. I am the type of person who just loves a nice epic 'journey' series, with romance and love in it. And I think the Avatar is the perfect show...*sigh* Oh well. Even though Aang is shorter than Katara I would find them an adorable couple. ^_^

Guys, this is NOT the place to talk about Romance! There's a thread in the Characters board where you can talk about. Any further posts about romance will be deleted.
