Word "Avatar" it is most ancient word from sanskrit language, which is base of both buddhism and hindusim. Word "Avatar" mean incarnation of holy being or in this case it is for "Aang".

Lord Buddha was 9th Avatar of Earth spirit. There is 8 other avatar too but they have there own story and some are famous in asia. All his story is written in ancient book name"Vedas". And even the Buddhist monk got major subject in there study which is "Vedas". Every animation creator got there ideas and motivation from something and in my view "Avatar The last Airbender" must come from same view and angle.

Yeah that is true for the avatar part but "the Last airbender" is just an ameriacan thing. In the UK it's Avatar: the legend of Aang.

Haha. Yes, yes. Basic teachings in World History 1, if anybody else pays attention in that class. And I think you forgot the "s" in books for The Vedas. Im surprised you didnt mention The Eightfold Path, or perhaps the Four Noble Truths. Hinduism is the oldest known religion in history. I thought that was pretty neat. I like Buddhism more, though. And then Taoism.
I still like that somebody knows a bit about religion.
But anyway, nice definition. Hinduism uses it for Vishnu a lot also.

Religion is something a part of talk but not community or group. Talking more will become politics and it even lead to war or other terrible things. But yes you are right I might have make mistake in mentioning some, however, it history is vast and very confusing in order. Even Buddhism in different country have there own theory, only few are common but if anyone have to really study cycle of avatar I think best place to learn is "Nepal". After all it's story begin from there.
