Airbending, not that powerful??
Okay, let's look back:
In Fortuneteller, Aang uses AIRBENDING to save the village from a river of lava. (Seems like pretty powerful stuff to me)
In The Storm, Aang uses AIRBENDING to save the gang and the old fisherman from drowning in the ocean during the storm. (pretty impressive stuff)
In The Avatar State, Aang uses AIRBENDING to make an inverted twister and devastates the earth kingdom fortress. (some pretty scary stuff)
Sure, manipulating air may not seem as flashy as chucking rocks or starting a forest ablaze but it is still very powerful.
Okay, back to the subject of the thread. My ideal ending would be ( and by the way, I'm writing a fanfic entitled Destiny that will tell this story):
Team Avatar finds a way to avoid the disastrous effects of the comet and three years later, joined by Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko and Iroh, Aang leads an army of Earth Kingdom and Northern Water Tribe soldiers to the Fire Nation for one final and decisive battle.
In the course of the battle, in the Royal Palace, Sokka kills Tai Li, Azula kills Iroh and Zuko kills Azula using the technique Iroh taught him. Mai is about to kill a battered Zuko but staring him in the eyes, her old feelings for him rise up and she surrenders to him instead.
Toph leads the earth kingdom army in driving the fire nation army to the sea where the water tribe army finishes them off.
Meanwhile, Aang is getting his butt kicked by the Fire Lord. Katara tries to help him and saves him from being killed but is nearly killed herself by the Fire Lord. This drives Aang into the Avatar State and he destroys the Fire Lord with a devastating attack that uses all four elements.
Half of the fire nation army is destroyed but they are still willing to fight to the last man until Zuko appears with the aid of Mai and Sokka and declares himself Fire Lord and the war over.
Aang takes Katara's badly burnt body to the North Pole where the healers work on her for weeks. Her injuries are all healed in a matter of weeks but she is still in a coma. Aang never leaves her side. In desperation Aang travels to the spirit world to seek help. He finds it and Katara is revived.
Aang is overjoyed and declares his love to Katara once again (he did it for the first time back at the final battle at Ba Sing Se), but Katara tells him that while she loves him she cannot be with him but will not tell him why. While still in the North Pole, Katara sneaks into Aang's quarters and spends one night with him then disappears into the night.
Aang is heartbroken over her disappearance and goes off searching for her. In his journeys, Aang meets old friend, and old enemies. King Boomi is training his young successor, Toph. They had seen Katara some weeks ago but she left long before Aang arrived. Zuko and Mai ( now married ) along with an army of fire nation engineers are helping rebuild earth kingdom towns and villages. Zuko says he saw Katara briefly but she was very secretive and left without accepting any aid. Almost two years later, Aang meets Sokka, now lives on Kyoshi Island with his wife Suki and their children. Sokka tells Aang that Katara was with them almost year ago. She set sail to return home to the South Pole but an unexpected storm caught the boat not far off shore and was struck by lightning and went down. There were no survivors.
Heartbroken, Aang becomes a wandering nomad. Fate eventually lead him to the South Pole 3 years later, where he meets a tired and sad Katara. It turns out, she heard Aang had been searching for her and so she faked her own death in order to free him of his feelings for her and let him go on and lead his own life. But Aang tells her that she is his life and without her he is nothing. But despite Aang's assurances that he does not care about her past, Katara still can't forgive herself.
How does it end? Read my story. ;D ;D ;D
