we all saw the drill attack Ba Sing Se. and there were many troops there, dropping boulders, and the terra team was beaten up by ty lee.
was this the true attack? it seems as though it was. but what about a back-up plan? could it be possible that the war balloon the fire nation attained at the northern air temple might have been used to get over the wall on the other side? if the enemy is about to brake through your walls, you usually pull most of your troops to the attack. leaving some areas unguarded.
this theory, I am sure is incorrect, and somewhat irrational. so when will the balloon be used? or will it never be used?

in season 3, but thats just a guess. The producers wrote the entire story before drawing the 1st episode, so they wouldn't have put the scene with the Fire Nation using the balloon if it wasn't impt.
