Alright, I don't know if I'm supposed to create another thread about this, but it is a different topic, so listen to this.

Sokka and Momo drank about a gallon (or so it seemed) of Cactus Juice, and then they started acting all crazy, having a hard time walking an what not... And I did some more research... (Oh, what a surpirse...) And I found something too funny.

In the desert, they take the cactus juice and make into one particular drink... Called tequila... *Bursts out laughing...*

So that means that Sokka and Momo were...

DRUNK.

*HAHAHAHAHA!!!!*

yeha, its funny! But why'd you do research on cactuses....

*takes bite of cactus*
*slurps some juice* Why do you think I've been typing "takes bite of cactus" IN almost every single post I make?

That is outstanding!!! You should add it to the wieclipia for the "Desert" episode article. Just be sure to cite your source.

Very interesting...

Though Avatar is kind of a kid show I wonder why they would make Sokka and Momo drunk?
Ha...Adult humor!

(looks at cactus outside) How do you bite this with all of the needles on the outside?

The weird thing is that I have eaten prickly pear catus before (both fruit and leafs). The fruit was bitter to me, but the leaf tasted ok. Kinda like a watery piece of lettuse leaf. I'll have to look around but that catuse in the episode looked kind like a barrel catus. Sorry, former desert resisdent I am.

ACTUALLY.....

" Only in Mexico, in the region known as Jalisco, can the plant from which all tequilas derive their unique taste be found. In fact, by government law, to be officially designated "Tequila," a minimum of fifty one percent of the spirits in Tequila must be derived from the exotic, cactus-like blue agave.

More than 100 million of these plants cover the hills of the Sierra Madre region, west of Guadalajara. The Agave plants are lined up in rows roughly 1,000 to an acre. Each plant can take up to ten years to reach maturity. As it matures, new seeds are planted to yield new offspring. The blue agave plants are spiked, with sword like leaves and a green pineapple-like center called the "piña" (Spanish for pineapple.) When the "piña" is mature it can weigh anywhere from 50 to 150 pounds.

Agave is derived from the Greek word meaning "admirable" or "noble". The only species of agave is used for Tequila, is the blue agave. Although similar to the other agave plants, the Blue Agave has blue-hued leaves, not the usual green leaves common to most agave plants.

The Blue Agave may look like a cactus, but it is actually from the lily family
."

Not cactus; however, you are sort of on the right track. Certain species of cactus have hallucigen-producing spores that help aid in self preservation, much like the outward protective spikes. Most animals stay away from poisonous plants, and so would stay clear of the cactus, despite the fact it contains water.

Also, my dears, this thread is turning into spam-a-lot. Please, stay on topic, or I will be forced to lock and move this thread.

Haha. Yea. I wasn't thinking they were drunk, but more of a high on a hallucinogenic cactus defense, like Katara said.
But I really wished that they would have shown what Sokka and Momo were seeing. All happy colors and giant mushrooms and Toph in FLAMES! It would be awesome. But it does seem a bit odd to show Sokka having such a good time on cactus juice. Instilling drug behaviors in children?
Yea...just like how Spongebob makes kids gay...

Yes, because the first thing we think when seeing a crazy sokka after eating cactus is, "Oh, it must be a hallucinogenic defense mechanism."

I especially wanted to see the flaming toph.

but back on topic, I'm seriously thinking of going to Home Depot, buying a cactus, and eating it. Just to see what happens. Who dares me?

LOL. Yes...it is....
Well, maybe we can get a good flash artist to recreate it in Sokkas point of view. Ive always wanted to see the show through Momo's point of view though. That would be much fun. Especially with the cactus juice =]

I dare you....
Double-dog dare ya....

Judging by the hallucinations and incoherent babblings, one would assume it had an effect similar to shrooms, acid or LSD.

That is an interesting fact. I suppose that as long as the creators of the show don't say that it is a drug it is O.K. I think it is hillarious so even if that does show drug usage I don't care. It doesn't make me want to use drugs so sorry for all the weak minded people out there. Anyways, it is just a cartoon, and a very good cartoon too!!!!!

(And Kusari, Spongebob doesn't make kids gay. That is just your personal opinion.)
