A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Spoiler alert! This thread contains spoilers for Episode 306, The Avatar and The Firelord.

Okay, what a backstory. I'm all for character development, but I was sad about two episodes in a row. Other than that... ALL POSITIVES FOR THE EPISODE.

I was extremely happy about the way it was presented: how the episode showed the two growing up.

I don't really have all that much to say about it... it's just a backstory episode. I did enjoy it though.

Oh, right, and how it turned out that he was related to both the Firelord AND the Avatar? That gives him a whole new connection with Aang, I don't think he'll want to fight him anymore. I think because he is connected, he has the power to change it, just like Iroh said.

But... how did Iroh send him the messages? How did he get out of the cell to put them there? So confusing x.x

I loved the new episode. ;D And Cao Cao, before a mod has to say it, just try and make your posts over 300 characters. ;) And honestly, I can't tell the difference of Iroh's voice at all. Which is a good thing I guess.

Well, I must say again that I really liked the episode, even though it was more of another fill in. It was awesome that Zuko learned about both of his grandfathers so much, and it's funny to me that Azula has such little knowledge on both of her Great Grandfathers. She only knew about the political information. Of course there's much more to it, and I'm surprised that she didn't read up on her history a little bit further to benefit her wicked plans.

I thought the comic reliefs of Aang were random while he was in the spirit world, but also fit right in with the show. Sokka never ceases to entertain me in every episode he gets a chance to talk in.

The ep pretty much tied a lot of strings with in the plot, especially about Zuko's decision in good or evil. The fact that both the Fire lord and the Avatar were both his ancestors is crazy, but makes sense.

As for how Iroh was leaving the notes, there's two possible ways he could do that. He could have escaped, which makes sense now that we know he is amazingly jacked. Or he could have had some one from the White Lotus deliver the messages.

Over all, I think it was a great filler, and a lot better than the last episode. :)

This was definately one of my favorite episodes in book 3 so far. I watch all the episodes on youtube, because I'm always away on Friday nights, and I was surprised to see that they were airing episodes up to 9!!!! One of which, I must say, was VERY disappointing. Gosh, it was horrible. I'm not going to say any more, but it was depressing.

Well, back to episode 306. I thought it was amazing. I loved how Aang and Zuko were learning the same story at the same time. And when Zuko found out that the avatar was also his great grandfather...well, my younger sibs and I were all watching it together and when Iroh said that all we could hear was "OOOOOHHh!!!!" lol. Now I am completely convinced that Zuko is going to switch to the good side. ^^ And on some tiny level, it makes me wonder if maybe Azula isn't going to be evil throughout the entire show either. Especially combined with The Beach, where she tries to actually act 'normal' and says it hurt her that her mother thought she was a monster.

As for Iroh's voice, I could definately tell the difference. There's no replacing Mako. But the new guy did a VERY good job. I thought it interesting that the 'new buff Iroh' had a 'new voice.' Tied in very nicely.

For Iroh's voice, I never even knew the actors changed. As for the episode, it was rather good I suppose. I liked when the fire lord and avatar were younger and getting along. It was kind of funny how Ruko was such a klutz in the beginning. Another thing that occurred to me is probably rather wrong but, If Zuko's grandfather on his mother's side was Ruko, the last avatar, than I find it an interesting coincidence that the only descendants of the avatar have disappeared or were banished. I don't know; just a thought.
