The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Spoiler alert? Yeah. Don't read any further if you haven't seen the episode, unless you want to know the plot.

If you are reading any further, and haven't seen the episode and want to keep spoilers out, READ NO FURTHER.

Anyway, on to the episode.

RETURN OF THE WHITE LOTUS! YESSSS. About time they introduce it to Aang and the crew. Or rather, Sokka and the crew, in this episode. I love the episodes that feature Sokka, but that might be because I love Sokka. But I ESPECIALLY loved this episode because of what they did with Iroh. It was amazing how he acts like he's crazy, and then goes on to be amazingly awesome. I mean, he's so buff now! Iroh just keeps getting better...

So I think... I think Sokka is bi. I mean...

Katara: I know something that will cheer you up.
Later...
Sokka: SHOPPING!!

If that isn't enough, how he drew a rainbow on the picture? Well, maybe I'm just thinking things up...

Uhm, the rest of the episode with Sokka actually learning swordfighting was amazing. I didn't view swordsmanship like that before, but now that I think about it, it makes more sense than other things. I loved ittt. <333

Anyway, anyone want to share ideas? XD

Yeah, seriously..... I saw that, and I was all..... he's clapping..... and giggling.... and screaming "shopping".

Heh. I love Sokka so much. And Katara, with her horrible jokes? Wow..... -_-*

The awesomest part was when Iroh took off his shirt and it was all.... W O W!!!!! That was like, a 12 pack. Who knew Iroh hid so much under his robe? And he was doing the one-armed pull ups..... OMFG!

*Frothy mouthed fanguy flailing and subsequent fainting*

I <3 Sokka. He's always been my favorite, but woot!! He's finally gotten a Master of his own. I was a Fencer for years (Not fencing like.. putting up yard barriers, but sword fighting fencing.. yeah.) and the concepts they brought in were very true to the real thing. As always, they did their research and I couldnt' be happier!

I <3 Iroh, too! I was not only impressed with Iroh's ability to act like a man gone crazy from confinement... but did you see those MUSKLES?! Holy crap, Iroh! It reminded me of a story I read in one of my "way of the Budo" books (I think) about a man who was imprisoned with some Mines. He was given little food, and worked harder than anyone else there.. and yet somehow was in the best shape of them all. The guards learned that he got up every morning before dawn and excercised.... practiced his katas and what-not. So the guards took away his food. Somehow he still flourished, so they locked him in a small cell, too small for him to do his katas in. Despite this fact, he still found ways to work his muscles and remained strong and spry. After a number of days in the cramped cell, they sent guards down to help drag him out... because nobody ever got out of there who wasn't stiff or too weak to walk on their own. This guy got up and walked off as smoothly as if he'd never been put in there.

I don't remember the end of the story.. but it reminded me of that. I love how these guys do their research and delve into actual legends and chinese folklore and history. It makes me squeal in fanboi-ish glee.

The passing on of the White Lotus to Sokka just makes me think more and more that Iroh will be Aang's Fire Bending Master (or at least the Fire-Bending element within the group). I honestly don't think Aang has an Avatar State anymore.. so he'll need all of them to complete his mission. I can't wait to see how this all plays out, but I'm so glad to see they aren't counting Iroh out yet. Yay!

Anyway. I'm done now. Sorry. ^_^

TOTALLY. It only makes Iroh even better. Like, freaking beastly macho man! Aaaah! It's from those clap pushups. You ever try one of those? Not easy at all. And yet he was doing like a ZILLION of them. OMG HE'S MY HERO *.*

And then there was that little Toph moment, so cute. I like the Soph, or Tokka, or whatever it's called, combo. I think it might be my favorite. XD

Yeah... Katara's jokes are pretty lame... XD

@ Ti-Nung-Cha

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. I've been thinking about it more and more, who is going to be Aang's fire bending teacher, and the more I think about it Iroh has more possibility for the role. I mean, who else can do it?

It's amazing how Avatar actually digs up chinese history and folklore. It makes the show even more brilliant, and is probably why I'm so addicted to it.

...You added a rainbow?
Is that okay?

My theory is that when Aang was shot through with the lightning by Azula... he Died. If you remember.. Roku said that if he died while in the Avatar State, the cycle would be broken and the Avatar would not be reincarnated again. Katara brought him back to life with that special water of hers. In the briefest of moments in that last episode of season 2, they showed the big glowy Avatar falling away. Remember he couldn't enter the Avatar state after studying with Pathik because he couldn't let Katara go?

I don't think Aang can enter the Avatar State anymore. My bets are that the WHOLE reason that Toph is still traveling with them is that in the end... Aang will need a Master of all four elements.. not himself, per se, to defeat the Fire Lord. Aang = air, Katara = water, Toph = earth .. and probably Iroh = fire. Anyway... that doesn't have much to do with the episode itself.

Tophcrush on Sokka = Cute! Sokka finally getting his own master.. Awesome! Uncle Iroh Buff'n'stuff... L33t!!

Ok I havent seen the episode yet because of a school football game, but I would like to comment about
Ti-Nung-Cha's post. I guess an OOC is approperate.

OOC: Well Aang did technically die and was brought back to life. But after that, he went into the spirit world (i dont know when or for how long) and met with the past four avatars to heal the avatar spirit. He first went to Roku who told him about how everyone makes mistakes and things like that. Then he showed Aang how he learned to master the avatar spirit and told him how hard it is. He then told Aang to visit Kyoshi. Now Kyoshi taught him that he should make his decisions wisely and everyone he makes could have a long lasting effect. She also informed him that she started the Dai -Le and the were supposed to protect the Earth Kingdom's Culture but instead turned out to be the opposite.(you also learned that Kyoshi lived to be 320 years old). She told Aang then to visit Kuruk. In my opinion, Kuruk was the least helpful. All he mainly talked about was how selfesh, daring, and ignorant he was as a young avatar. Then he told Aang that he was supposed to get married but Koh the face stealer, took Kuruk's wife and yeah. Then Aang visited Yangchen. She was the most helpful. She reviewed over everything Aang learned and told him again that mistakes happen and stuff like that. She also told him that the avatar is born in human form so they can live by and understand human life. She said that through each incarnation, the avatar is closer to fully understanding human life. And the last thing she said was the the avatar spirit is now healed but Aand cant go into the avatar state for a while and he would have to rely on his friends. So all in all, the avatar spirit is healed and the cycle isnt broken.

Yes I finally saw the episode and was impressed with what I saw, that they didn't just put in a completely lame filler episode to pass time, which I haven't seen so far on book three.

Sokka- Seiriously, a rainbow!? Funny, but kind of leaves some questions about Sokka.... -) Well, I liked the sword fighting aspect of the episode, but then again I might be kind of biased considering Swords are like my all time favorite martial weapon.... Not however, Sokka won't be as useless when it comes to fights anymore, he will have some potency

Iroh- I mean, what can i say? Iroh was a great character before, and already one of my favorites, but add this degree of guile and there is no doubt hes one of my favs ever.

After seeing this, I have high hopes for book three =\

That's the thing about Avatar's fillers- they aren't only fillers. Most of the time there is two or more significant details in the fillers that leave you questioning if they actually are fillers. Like, in some other episode, say Iroh breaks out and beats down a few guards on the way. It would leave you wondering, 'How was he that strong while in prison?' Thanks to the filler, you now know~ XD

However, I didn't think it was filler at all, because if they show Sokka fighting with his new sword more often it will have proven there was a main point behind the episode.

@byakko:

WHowherewhen?

Where was that? An episode I missed? A book? a magazine article? Where did you find that information? I am more than a little curious to know... because I don't like to think I missed something -that- important.

That was a special thing Nick was doing, called Avatar: Escape from the Spirit World. Basically, it was a game, and when you completed one of the level things, you'd get this clip of Aang talking to one of his past lives. It took place right after he 'died' in the Avatar State, and Aang learned those important things from those Avatars. However, when he woke up he would know nothing about the thing, and he couldn't go into Avatar State for a long time anyway.

Jin Ha is correct. All of that information was on some game that nick did. I, however never actually did the game, I saw the short film of Aang's talk with the other avatar's on youtube. How ever I did already know about avatar Kuruk. I am pleased that I know something that a few people didn't. It makes me all fuzzy inside. Oh and as a correction Avatar Kyoshi was 230 years old, not 320. But she still was to oldest avatar in history. Roku was about 60 when he died, just as a side note. If you have any questions on that topic, just ask me.

I shall have to hunt that down!! Youtube here I come.

Not that I intend on being the lead expert on Avatar or anything, but that was a big thing to miss! Here I am theorizing like I know more than I do.. and probably, consequently, sounding like a dumbass. XD Ah well.

If you can't laugh at yourself, who -can- you laugh at, right?

Thanks for the info!
