Oh my gosh, when I heard that there was going to be an Avatar live action movie, I had to come on here and tell everyone xD. M. Night Shyamalan (director of Lady in the Water, The Sixth Sense, and The Village.. and a lot of other things I can't remember..) is directing the Avatar movie :]
I was so surprised when my sister told me xP She says that auditions were being held in LA, if anyone here is in acting :P Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing it :D

more info-go to future projects.. duh xD

I'm not sure whether to be scared or excited or both. I love the cartoon the way it is, but I think that with good acting and direction they could pull it off. I think the hardest part will be finding the right actors.

Thanks for the link.

oh no, as soon as you said 'M. Night Shyamalan,' all I could think of was 'What a twist!!11!'. I definitely agree with Sawora concerning finding the right actors, but I'm sure Shyamalan has good casting people, so they'll get the job done right-ish. If they actually follow through with this movie, I'll be looking forward to seeing some crazy-cool bending FX, hopefully they can round up a decent editing team.

Oh, I completely agree with you on the subject of bending. You take one look at the show and you go, "Wow that move'd look cool in live action!"
There's so much they can do these days. I'm curious as to how they'd do the plot...seeing as how it'd be a movie and not a series.

Now the question is: known actors or unknowns?

Not to be nitpicky or anything, but a thread about the live action Avatar movie had been started already and perhaps it would've been better to have posted there instead of creating a new thread. ;)

So far it seems that the film has the support of the creators of the show, that they believe he'll be able to do a good job with it and that Shyamalan has already started scripting the film.

A film review show on NBC recently made a short commentary about the prospect of a live action film. The critic implored Shyamalan to stay true to the spirit of the show, and that it is a complex, lively and enjoyable story. And while it is complex, it also has a sense of simplicity and accessibility. Don't muck it up with long awkward pauses and strange characterization. I thought it was very funny that the critic (who usually hates everything except 'high art' films) was speaking so highly of Avatar. Never pictured him as someone who had seen it.

The film is clearly gaining some recognition.

Actually, Ai Lin is right. This thread is duplicate, and is being locked and moved to archives. Sorry!
