Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

So which one was better? Everyone who chooses to write something please post a post that is at least over 3 lines please.

*Be warned this thread may contain spoilers*

Personally i think season one was better just because it was far better in terms of large scale battle. After all this was the Northern Water Tribe verses the Fire Nation. In addition some realy good water and firebending scenes. Plus the ending with Aang as that giant ocean spirit monster anihilating fire navy ships.

Season two was only good in the last episode all in all it was rather slow util Zuko and Katara go close.

I must say that, once I thought about it, I like the end of the first one better. I'm sorry, but even hinting at Zutara is bad in my opinion, and having Zuko because his sister is smart and knew what to say, when we all know she's probably lying? Ooh, I was so mad at Zuko. Anyway, yeah, Season 1 Finale had more action, which I always think is cool. Season Two was good, don't get wrong, but I like these things to be bigger, so yeah...

I support Siege of the North! It had that epic feeling to it you rarely ever get with any movie or series. The scale of Siege of the North was just much larger. The second season ending was mainly a small-scale battle with Azula's same old lightning tricks. Everyone was underperforming in that battle, though, I believe. Katara could have done so much more with the amount of water available to her in that cave. Aang was just letting himself be overwhelmed, whereas in the first season he became a huge ocean... thing.

Another reason why I liked Siege of the North better was because it involved less annoying hints at the possible relationships! Where Zutara seemed a possibility for a brief moment, now it's gone again, seemingly... Siege of the North was much less complicated (of course, it was only the first season), and the separation of Sokka and Yue was just one of those sad 'awww' moments.

i didnt care too much for siege of the north. there was too much "lovey-dovey" junk between Sokka and Yue (or however you spell her name). the fighting between zuko and katara was awesome. earthbending and firebending are my two favorite styles, so of course i would like this episode more than the other. and tough learning how to bend metal was sickass as well

And i dont no if this next part is off-topic:

I think Zuko is backstabbing Azula. She left him alone with Iroh. And he seemed very unsure. Plus, he had his transformation last episode, so his first thought would be the right thing to do. And this is just like the first episode of the season, when Azula said Ozai was sorry or something like that, and wanted Zuko to return. Of course, this was just Azula's plan to get Iroh and Zuko on her boat (something about that last sentence sounded odd...). but this plan was foiled when a crewmember said something about prisoners, refering to zuko and iroh.

Both season finales were prettyy good. Both had their pros and cons.

The Sieg at the North Pole was pretty good. It's plot was well built, and it was a tragedy; since Yue (spelling may be incorrect) had to sacrifice her own life. And I liked the romantic plot between Saka and Yue (even though Saka seems to be liked by or likes every girl character he meets.) It was also a great battle, and Aang was pretty awesome in his Water Spirit form. But it lacked intense fighting scenes, and the part when Aang went to the spirit world was a drag.

The Crossroads of Destiny and the Guru were pretty awesome. The Guru episode was funny, and Toff learned how to bend metal. Also, Zuko betrayed his uncle and the avatar gang (even though I doubt it.) This season finale was filled with great fighting scenes, and had an intense and seductive plot. But Zuko wasn't able to get that hideous scar healed (stupid Aang had to ruin it) and Aang couldn't master the avatar state. So most likely, Iroh will teach Aang fire bending.

All in all, I preferr The Guru and The Crossroads of Destiny. It had the slight advantage over season one.

Your spelling is atrocious! It's Toph, Sokka, and Siege...

Anyhow, I agree that the second finale was better, but for different reasons. I don't really like the battles, but the character development was good. Plus I think Zuko made the right decision.

There are two kinds of battles, the large scale, like the first season's finale, and the pair offs, like in season two's finale. I personally preferred the action of season two. After all, when Aang became that giant water spirit, it wasn't so much an action packed scene as a stomping scene. He devestated the Fire Nation troops, so there wasn't as much suspense. In the latest episode you got to see some really good individual fights, which I found more enjoyable.

Also, I agree with Kiku that there was much more character development in the last season finale over the first. That made the periods between fights just as interesting.

The first finale (first...finale....) definitely. It had the action, it had the drama, it had the losses, the gains, and it had a good ending note. Although this pattern is followed by most TV series, a good finale, IMO, ends on a mostly neutral note. There was nothing really crazy we had to worry about after season 1, besides the fact that aang had to beat up mr. fire lord before summer ends.
as for season 2...OH MY GAWD, THEY LOST BA SING SE...now what? personally i hate those damned cliffhangers. so my vote goes to Siege of the North

Well, since I wasn't RPing, I don't check my spelling, which most of those are typ-o's besides Toph, which I spell it Toph usually, but then someone told me it was Toff, so, whatever, I'll change it back. But you don't have to be rude, only a mod can do that, so *sticks out tongue* shut up!!!!!!! Just kidding. Thanks for pointing that out.

@ Mr. Face - If one reads alot of fantasy books and watches the right anime, they'll see that there is a typical system about how things end. Its hard for me to predict a four-piece series like Avatar, but in most trilogies the first book ends with a relatively neutral moment, inwhich everything seems to be okay but the cast knows that there is much more to be done. The second book ends with a cliffhanger, in which something negative has happened and upset the balance, making the audience anxious for more, then there's the finale that ties everything together and brings about the happy ending.

Some trilogies differ from this, but its a pretty common thing to see. I don't know what will happen at the end of the Fire season, since this is a four piece, which isn't often done as much as a three-piece. Still, the system seems to be in place, maybe they'll extend the cliffhanger part to the Fire season as well, since there have to be cliffhangers in the middle of a story to make it more suspenseful.

Not disrespecting your choice of season finales mind you, everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course. Just stating that there have to be cliffhangers and such if you want a good series.

Well, I think Season 2 was better I felt it had more action. Plus, you got to see some pretty awesome things that you have not seen yet in the avatar series. Arg... Lol I got your other post I read that in the rules I just thought it was only for the actual Rping not for the regular threads sorry AGAIN WON'T happen again. This was posted before I read any of your other keep post above 200 character things... Just to let you know though there is a lot more people that are doing less than 200 characters. Oh yeah, and hopefully you are not just out for me because I don't see you telling any one else about there under 200 posts. Even if I am posting a lot they are making huge conversations with like 5 words in each post....(Not arguing just telling you that just in case you didn't know) Oh, yea and pst! Keep your post above 200 characters! lol jk

hm, you may have made a mistake there joychi, haha.

Daku- yes, youre right. as i stated in my post, non-cliffhanging is a pattern id like to see more often because most series dont follow it. also i never said cliffhangers make a finale worse, i just dont like em. actually im mostly full of shit i just realized, cause one of my favorite television shows is Lost, hahaha. talk about cliffhangers...

Having thought about it ever since the season 2 finale aired, I have finally come to the conclusion that I liked the season 2 finale better, dramatically speaking. Season One ended on a high note which has come to be expected overall for the Avatar and his retinue, whereas Season Two surprised somewhat and ended in a terrible defeat that, while not setting Aang back too far, increases the importance of him defeating the Fire Lord. And now possibly Azula as well, before his job is actually done.

In addition, while Aang learned earthbending in Book Two and it is actually called the "Earth" book, I harbor the feeling that the entire book was actually about the Avatar State, since the first episode of the season was entitled that and Aang began to learn more in-depth about it. The long-held belief that the Avatar State holds the key to defeating Ozai is now effectively kaput (imho), which does put some stress on Aang, but he can take comfort in the fact that it's pretty pointless to let go of Katara now.

I realize I'm getting slightly offtopic (especially bad for staff :o) but this is semi-related because it was how the finales developed Team Avatar. Personally I like the idea of teamwork as the actual force that could end Ozai's tyranny. In the season one finale we see that while Aang uses the Avatar State to wipe out the fleet, Katara had to protect Aang before this while he was in the Spirit World. In season two, we suddenly have the world's greatest earthbender (Toph), quite possibly the world's fastest learning waterbending master (Katara), and the Avatar, who needs no adjectives. Meaning no disrespect to Sokka, but unfortunately having no bending skills on a playing field with some strong bending characters (including Zuko, Iroh, and Azula on whatever sides they happened to be on) was a major disadvantage.

Done babbling now. I voted season two.

I preferred season one, sheerly because it reveals a lot of storyline, had some beautiful scenes, and just had some epic, motion-picture quality dialogue and situations. It was dramatic and impressive. Season two's ending wasn't so bad, it just wasn't so epic like season one's ending.

I mean, I was upset to see Zuko choose Azula's side especially when I saw some interesting concepts brewing (such as possible involvement with Katara and finally actually changing his 'destiny.' But then again, it's better this way. It's more realistic and it leaves a lot more for us to anticipate in the final season. I mean, if Zuko suddenly joined them, then we'd know who is good and bad, it'd lack the ambiguity and such. Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed in Zuko's choice, but it was a good plot-move. It was a blow to the heart.

I preferred season one, although I missed the right button and voted for 2(sorry!)

Zuko was retarded, Zutara was pretty fail(why even hint at it?!), and Aang gets shot in the back while in the AVATAR STATE! It involved character de-coolifying of almost all my favorite characters but Toph(who, as usual, is AWESOME with metal bending and that running on a wave of rock to get back to Ba Sing Se....) but it did have one thing that I will copy for my next new character:

Gem armor. I LOVED it! When Aang bend it around him and attacked Azula(who did that rocket thing)? It rocked.(pun intended)

I'm going to base my new character in a large village in Western Earth Nation with a large deposit of crystals underneath it. He'll bend that, mainly.

But anyways, nuff about that. I liked Season one, what with the death and the boat destruction. Yeah.
