Plot Update 10 March 2021

A year has passed since Fire Lord Zuko ascended the throne, and it seems like trouble is brewing between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom once more. The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Well, I hope this has not ever been brought up before, but in the episode "The Southren Air Temple" when Aang enters the inner chamber where all the avatar statues are located they seem to be spiraling inwards. Which would mean it would eventually come to a end within the next eight or so avatars. Which makes me think, what if after a few more avatar cycles that the Avatar ceases to be. Would this mean that world was finally at peace and the avatar was no longer needed, could it be that the world was deystroyed by the chaos of man or was it that bending was lost for all time and the avatar just ceased to be the avatar and was now just a normal person. I just thought it was interesting, but maybe that was only me.

Well, It was pointed out to me by Katara or Karena (Possibly their theories together) in another thread (I'm not sure which) of a certain opinion, which I have adopted. Or... I could be misreading them wrong, once again I'm not sure. It's something roughly like this:

Possibly, the current Avatar could actually be the FINAL avatar. By this I mean, by ceasing the war, he could have finalized the cycles, and brought peace to the world for all time. His actions here will not be needed again, because the world will be at peace.

Now... I also have an idea, that the temple works on a kind of bending archetecture. It could be that someone bends some device to make the statues rotate, and move upwards, leaving space for a new one.

But that's all I got.

Oh my. I don't know, I don't even know if I've seen this episode, but I sort of get the picture you're describing. Hmm... Or, it could just be how the thing was drawn... The artist just deciding to make it look like that. Or, it's showing how soon the end of the war will be, and Aang may be the one to stop it.

But, of course it would be him. Why wouldn't it be? He's the main character. Lol.

I don't think the Avatar cycle will ever end unless the current Avatar dies while in the Avatar State. I don't think it will end just because there's peace though. I mean, there were Avatars before Aang, and thy lived during peaceful times. Even if there are no more wars, the Avatar will always be needed. He/She is the bridge betweenn the spirit and mortal worlds. Not only that, the Avatar is supposed to settle quarrels, not just between nations but everyone. I just think he will always be needed, no matter what happens.

Ah, I agree. =)

Well, I remember someone in the Fire Nation ordering someone not to kill Aang, because if they did another Avatar would be born, like, onehundred years later and someone else would have to do it. Or something like that.

Dieing in the Avatar State, not too sure if even that would do it.

But, I don't think he'll ever die, so it's not really a big problem. Like I said, he's the main character. If he dies, that would be the complete end of the show... And of the marketting that also gave the producers millions.

I don't believe that the Avatar Cycle will end. If the Airbenders were still living they would add more to it, moving the statues up in the circle or something, gradually adding more space to the room. As you could see, it was about the size of a large assembly room and could easily be added to from the top considering the Airbenders could fly up there. I don't think the Avatar Cycle will end unless one of them dies in the Avatar State, since all the the Avatars are manifested in one during that time. I don't think there will ever be complete peace, and like with Kyoshi, she will have to stop problems within the nations instead of between them. She had to stop Chin the Conquerer, an Earthbender, from taking over the world. There is never peace. There may be peace times, but there will always be an issue in the world, and that is where the Avatar is needed.
