The Fire Lord and the Avatar began the Harmony Restoration Movement to restore the Fire Nation Colonies to their pre-war state by bringing any Fire Nation nationals back home, but for many of the citizens — of mixed Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom … Read more ›

Actually, it was Saturday... *blinks* The 19th was Saturday.

OMG!!!!! HOW AWESOME!!!! OMG!!!!

*coughs* Really, I'm okay.

Anyway, it was totally awesome! Aang rocked! A perfect punishment for the Fire Lord - excuse me, EX-Fire Lord, and it kept Aang true to his roots. For a moment there, I thought he really was going to kill him with that mixture of all four elements. It would have been majorly cool to see, but the way they did was much more realistic, and taking away Ozai's bending? A very fit punishment, since for a bender, that's just pure torture!

Azula? OMG! It seems like losing Mai and Ty Lee just made her snap! She went nuts. Awesome fight between her and Zuko, though, and equally between her and Katara. Oh, and the way Katara took out Azula? Awesome! Katara and Zuko rock! I loved seeing Zuko match Azula throughout the whole fight. Majorly cool.

Oh, and the re-taking of Ba Sing Se? Awesome!

Oh, and the Maiko was cute. Yes, I admit - it was cute, so was the Kataang, but the Kataang was awesome! Loved to see them FINALLY get together.

So... Mai becomes Queen of the Fire Nation then? *scratches head*

But I will say that I loved everything about this episode. It definetely gave me some ideas as to how we're going to do this when we get there... whenever that is. Anyway, yep, awesome, cool.

LOL Kataang for the win! I always knew it was going to be so!

The Finale was outstanding, I will be the first to admit I was geeking out the entire time I was watching it. I absolutely loved Aang and Ozai's fight though I will admit I liked Azula and Zuko's even more then that. Can't help but admit that fact, but i just love how their fight was practically burning the entire city down! lol

My favorite part... had to probably be... I have no idea! I loved the entire thing! The one part that was freaking me out was when Sokka and Toph where on the side of the Air Ship and it looked like they where about to fall. The novice writer in me says that was a great dramatic scene, but the Toph Fanatic in me wanted to smack my TV with a Two by Four. I'm happy Suki saved them!

I definately loved the ending, and especially the dramatic cut away when Zuko asked his father where his mother was. Most people hate that it cut it off there but I absolutely love that because Mike and Bryan where giving the Fandom the ability to speculate at this and come up with their own ideas.

I have to admit, I like the touch with how Azula became insane. I'm sure most people think I'm nuts but I personally believe it makes it more realistic because someone like that who depends on controlling others and being pampered would likely go off the deep end like that, but i'm no psychiatrist so I'm just guessing.

I will admit I did feel sorry for Azula near the end.

Here's to hoping the movies are as good as the Tv series!

This finale was.... so epic. I'm happy that Aang finally grew some balls before he and Katara got together. I had a problem with child!Kataang. It'll be a lot better when they're older.

Azula crazy was freaky..... O_o I love all the old people to death!

I'm pretty happy about all the Zutara material they left us with. I'll be writing fanfics and drawing fanart well after today. Woohoo! I'm very happy that at least we have friend!Zutara.

Maiko.... I'm not even going there. Seriously, when Zuko started putting on his shirt, I started going "nooooo......". I just can't stand Maiko.

Well, it was a wonderful finale! And to all you non Zutara shippers....

CONGRATS ON KATAANG AND MAIKO!

YES!!!!! AHHH I'M SO HAPPY!!

I knew i could trust in Kataang!! It was destiny, sorry I'm so corny, but i love them together and yay MAIKO!! And SUKKA!!

I love it how everyone found their place. Ty Lee joining the Kyoshi Warriors, that was so sweet, and Zuko becoming Fire Lord!!?? AWESOME! Not only that but TWO huge battles that we were waiting for happened. And Aang totally kicked Ozai's butt! It was incredible. I also had no idea that bending could be taken away! That was sick, as in good sick =D

Seriously that show left me in tears, I'm so upset that it is over, but that was such a wonderful way to end it.

And Azula went NUTS!!! It was GREAT, and i give props to both Toph and Katara for their bending in that episode, i mean come on Toph turned into Metal Man!! And Katara chained Azula creating an underwater bubble thingy!! AHHH it was awesome.

That show just left me with one question, Where is Zuko's mom??? I want to know so badly!!

Wait, if Sukka, Maiko, and Kataang are canon, does that mean that... Toph has no one? I was hoping for more Zuko/Toph interaction. The clinging was all I got... Oh, and I guess the Katara/Aang kiss was cute and stuff. If you like that sort of thing. What happens to Teo, Haru, and The Duke, anyway?

Poor Azula! She went crazy paranoid and banished everyone! Is she now just in some prison, rotting away? Shrieking madly? Aw. I thought she'd get to do something cool, like become the next Fire Lord. Or something. She was slipping even before that though. Burning down the Earth Kingdom to squash rebellion instead of, I don't know, annihilating the Water Tribes was a really stupid idea. Destroying all the farmland and such would turn the Earth Kingdom into a big hunk of uselessness instead of a profitable province. As for the Water Tribes, well, they could have attacked the Fire Nation while it was defenseless, and the "Pheonix King" would come home to find, well, nothing. Tsk tsk, Azula, read your copy of The Prince.

I actually didn't like the episodes. They were all action sequence/overly emotional encounter. Non-stop. For two hours. Where's the character development? Trying to decide whether or not to kill the Fire Lord was the only thing Aang actually seemed to think about. That's a bit disappointing.

Somehow I feel like there's still more story hiding between the last scenes and the bit before it. The Falling Action had to be there somewhere, not just a "AND EVERYBODY WAS HAPPY YAYS!" sort of thing.

As Halaku often put it, that was a total fangasm movie/episode event. Everything that happened, was something that I had been waiting and waiting for.

First of Zuko v. Azula, it was a great fight, but also a very bitter fight. Zuko ended up doing what Iroh was saying he wouldn't do. The battle itself was very sad, just look at the music the played, it wasn't faced paced or anything all it did was insight pity and disgust at what these two siblings were doing to each other. In that, I feel that the creators were showing us that it was ugly because this is what power can do to people. Azula, already on a path to destruction went insane at the idea of what could happen to her.

However, it was a kick ass battle, the way the comet supercharged Zuko and Azula was incredible.

As for Honoo, I think that there was a lot of character development. Azula got lost in her ideology and went insane. And Zuko finally realized that he didn't have to kill his enemies. He and Katara left Azula chained up, and he left Ozai in his cell. Aang was brave, although him not killing Ozai seemed like he was being selfish for his own spirituality going against Yangchen's wisdom, however, it did show his determination to not end a life.

Did you guys see Zuko, before he redirected Azula's lightening? That deep breath he took, look's like Iroh's training paid off.

It was pretty good! I love the League of Extraordinary Old Men (OWL)! Rocket!Jeong Jeong! GranPakku! Bumi's delightful eccentricity! Piandao's affable bad ass-ness! Iroh's...well, Iroh just rules!

I had some logic concerns about certain aspects (Roku specifically told Aang he HAD to defeat the Fire Lord before the comet arrives, so Aang's not gonna listen to his past life now?). Although I loved the beach party at the beginning, I was surprised Mr. Plan Guy Sokka was the one suggesting it. The Lion-Turtle was weird since it felt like it came out of nowhere, despite being in a picture in the Library. It's very old school mythology and all, but I would've liked more of a build up to it. I still don't know how I feel about the comet enhanced firebenders. Sometimes it made the action harder to follow because the camera was focused on the HUGE FIRE and not the awesome martial arts that the show's known for. I also don't know how I feel about how Aang unlocked the Avatar State. Really, all it took was an accidental slam in the pressure point? Katara knew a lot of energy was backed up in that spot and yet just was gonna let it be and never try again to fix it? That said, holy crap the hamster wheel of elements looked cool!

Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of it. Iron Man/Melon Lord Toph, the terrific trio of her, Sokka and Suki, Sukka (the only canon pairing I really have any feeling about), Toph's "life changing" field trip with Zuko, Zuko's fight with Aang at the beginning (awesome acrobatics!), Sokka's Birthday Plan and the Fire Nation men that fell for it (hilarious!) and more!

Azula's unraveling was pretty well done. She's always been crazy, but losing Mai and Ty Lee and then having her father leave caused her to start reevaluating how she managed her life until that point. The Ursa hallucination seemed a bit like her conscience or at least softer side manifesting to challenge that fear was not the reliable way of keeping allies. At that point all she had left was the power of being Fire Lord, as she had sent away everyone before they could betray her. I liked that her fight with Zuko was a very somber affair, and you do end up pitying her (especially after her defeat, seeing her cry and shriek is a bit hard to watch). The only thing that disappointed me is that I wish Zuko had outright beaten her a bit more. He got maybe one hit in, and was going to win, but I've always wanted him to get the last strike in. Not to say that Katara wasn't killer in the fight. Pretty clever stuff there and overall the fight was pretty cool. I <3 CrAzula. ;)

I still think Aang is underestimating Ozai. Taking away Ozai's bending is a crippling blow to the core of his personality, but it is something he could get over. The show has gone to great lengths to get the point across that it doesn't matter whether your a bender or not, but how much skill and training you've had. What's to say Ozai doesn't spend time recovering in prison and then later on decides he still should rule the world? No firebending, sure, but the Kung Fu itself is still deadly. This is a hypothetical, but he is still a threat. Treating him as nothing once his bending is taken away diminishes the awesome "Normal" folk like Sokka, Suki and Piandao.

When all is said and done, for the humor and action, I really did enjoy the finale. I will miss you Avatar, especially you Sokka, Toph , Zuko and Iroh. :)

I loved the final episode! It was amazing! I especially loved how Azula went completely insane at the end. It actually caught me off-guard. I honestly did not foresee her going mad, even though I know I should've. I loved the conversation with her "mother in the mirror," so to speak. However, I disliked the fact that Aang simply took away Ozai's bending. I thought that was much too soft on a man who wanted to conquer the world.

I really dislike Maiko. She seems too emotionless. I will forever hold out for Toph/Zuko, as I think they make a great couple. I am very happy with Kataang. It felt like I had to wait forever for them to end up together, even after their kiss in The Cave of Two Lovers. But now they're together! Yay!

All in all, I thought it was a great episode, and I wish Avatar would continue forever. ;D

I thought the finale was great! My favorite part was of course the battle between Fire Lord Ozai and Aang, in which he completely owned him. Im a little disappointed that Aang didn't kill the fire lord, but i guess thats the be expected in a Nickelodeon show. I mean if you think about it, the fire lords going to die at someone else's hand anyways.

And i wish that the battle between Zuko and his sister was better done. First of all i didnt like the music background noise that blocked out the actual battle, but then it was over after a few shots. And the moves that were actually shown were more like season one rookie shots, not the (my favorite fire move I've seen) fire blast that Zuko used in The Guru/Crossroads of Destiny. Now that was awesome.

Alot of people are talking about how Toph could have done more to help, but i personally think she did a good job. I mean she helped take out a fleet of firebenders, no small task. And her metal bending is superb! My only thought is that when she was slipping from Sokka, couldnt she have let go and landed without a problem, i mean it is earth she will be hitting, cant she do something to soften the landing? I guess she is blind... who knows.

Okies. Other than the fact that the four episode finale made up for the past lack of fighting within a small span of the most amazing anime action I have ever seen, the finale, in the grand scheme of things, was a big disappointment to me. Yes, yes giant waves of immense flames, cool explosions, and omega spheres of quatro-ultra-elemental-doom are fun to watch, but are no way to end an entire series. Like some here have said "where was the character development." Answer: "There was none." Aang didn't develop as a character at all, he just got what he wanted in the end. He didn't have to kill the Phoenix King/ex-Fire Lord because luckily a giant lionturtle taught him a new skill. I'm tired with the main characters of stories relying on luck. I had enough of that after the Harry Potter series. Katara...well...she showed once again that she's a really good bender...um...woo. Sokka...finally had a plan that worked. Toph metal bended a door...really deep into the complexity of a growing girl. On that note they hardly scratched the surface with her longing for someone to love...hmm...HMM? Zuko had a little character stuff with his uncle and his sister, but not much. On another note: Azula going crazy was bull$#!^. Most Azula scenes throughout the entire series focused on the fact that she really didn't have any emotions and in the final two episodes she completely breaks down. I can see her maybe questioning her heart and feeling sorry for her two "friends" but actually reaching the line between sanity and psychosis? It didn't really work for me. Someone as strong as Azula wouldn't go crazy because she lost her two best friends and gained a little more responsibility as Fire Lord. Also, making it to where Zuko could only match Azula because she lost it was depressing. If Goku had beaten Kid Buu because Buu got a stomach ache, who would've watched GT?! (GT sucked...)

Suki had her little moment when she saved Sokka and Toph. Liked the drama there. Iroh did have an interesting "taking back Ba Sing Sei" thing, but they could have milked that much more. ...and we didn't get to see his muscles. I'm not gay, but I have to admit seeing ripped Uncle Iroh was awesome! He was all "That's right...5000 push ups a day. You?"

I know that views were going down because everyone was watching Avatar on the internet, but for the sake of the show they should have drawn out that into at least another six episodes. "What Zuko, the Fire Lords going to actually USE the comet to do lots of bad?!?!?!?! We better do something quick to defeat him and the entire fire nation within three days. Fire Air Boom! I'll just swim on out to sea here and basically talk with myself until I learn that I really don't know the answer. BOOM BOOM Sniff BOOM! Maybe this giant lionturtle with a jungle on his back will know. Stroke stroke breathe stroke. HI LIONTURTLE! BAM BAM Water Earth Fire Air Energy bending! End..."

Fantastic...really...fantastic...

OH! And what the H-E-double hockeysticks (Hell) were they thinking when they made Zuko barge in on his father ask him where his mother is and do nothing with that. If they don't continue with a movie or something all H-E-double hockey sticks (Hell) will break lose! Thank you for your time.

Ito, although you are right in the majority of what you said, I have to disagree with the complete lack of character development.

With Aang, throughout the entire series Aang has been a softy, Toph pointed this all too well in Bitter Work. Basically, Aang has always folded to other peoples' wishes when it came to things, but in the finale he finally refuses to fold and is determined to find a way to get what he wants. I believe that this shows that Aang has come a long way from what he once was.

Now, for the genius that is Joaquin Dos Santos, if you look at Zuko's fighting style he came off a lot more relaxed, he was fighting in a not seen in him.

Oddly enough, my favorite fight in that whole thing is still the Zuko/Aang chase at the beginning. It was the easiest to see the awesome fighting moves, and both Zuko and Aang showed off some sweet acrobatics. You can definitely see the difference in Zuko's fighting style during that segment.

I'm still torn about the energybending thing. One the one hand, Aang uses his unbending spirit to find another way to solve his dilemma (which is still deus ex machina-ish, even with some minor foreshadowing, yeah lion-turtle I'm talking to you) which does speak to his core personality. On the other hand, you have Avatar Yang Chen, an airbender, telling him that being the Avatar takes precedence over his personal beliefs, and the beliefs of the air nomads. To save the world, he would have to sacrifice those beliefs. That is a very profound thing, and because I love that whole segment, having Aang just resort to a last minute technique make it seem a little...I don't know, selfish? I can't grasp the right word here. Yang Chen seems to have the best handle on what it means to be an Avatar and why they are, so having Aang go against that advice rubs me the wrong way.

Though, I would argue that there was a bit of an unraveling of Azula before the finale. She showed some genuine anger at Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal at the end of the Boiling Rock, more so than she ever had before, and when she attacks the Western Air Temple at the beginning of the Southern Raiders she looks somewhat unhinged. Even her lines about killing Zuko and her creepy smiling are just a bit off than what she normally is. I would also pose that Azula was insane to begin with, at the very least in the sociopath sense, and it took the shattering of her method of dealing with people (fearing her equals trust) to get her to become unbalanced. It might have been her 'conscience' that appeared as her mother during that scene, continuing to challenge that fear is not the best way, but that love is. These problems have been there all along (also taking into consideration Azula's perfectionist nature, losing allies is a blow to that perfection), and it took several blows at once to get her. Having said that, yeah, I would have preferred Zuko to outright beat her while she was at her best rather than when she was at her weakest (comet or no, her mental state was a handicap). I also still think that lightning should have exploded in her face. There's no way that girl was in a balanced enough state to do that. I mean, geez, if she can still sling lightning while she's that manic, Zuko should have been able to during the fight too. He'd put to rest most of his big problems by that time.

I do still wonder why we didn't get to see BuffIroh. I was waiting for more of that. It was harder to tell underneath his White Lotus robe. Or at least Zuko commenting on how buff he is. C'mon, the guy broke out of prison!

Iron Man Toph still is awesome, though. Super awesome. There needs to be a Sokka/Suki/Toph spin off so they can all do more hilarious and bad ass things, and Toph can resolve her character arc.

I had mixed feelings about the last episode. I think my favorite part Azula. the way that they portrayed her in the end was phenomenal. Especially when she saw her mother in the mirror. the lesson is so true though, you can't have friends/allies that you control by fear.

The Aang/Sozin fight was epic. I couldn't believe that Sozin, not Aang, ended up triggering the avatar state by hitting the scar on his back! My friends and I called the part following this the "Aang's Hamster Ball 'O Doom" scene. I did not like the end of the fight though. I thought that the taking away his bending concept looked really cool, but it seemed very unrealistic to me. I mean, Aang finally decides to kill the Fire Lord, but then he doesn't so he has to find some way blah blah blah. Well, what can you do?

The Zuko/Azula/Katara fight was amazing. Zuko and Azula's fight was sheer power! I loved it! But once Zuko made a comment about lightning, I knew she would go for Katara. After he took the blow, I bet that Zutara fans everywhere were so happy. The way that Katara captured Azula was AMAZING! I think it was the best fight in the ending.

Sokka, Tohp, and Suki was good I thought. The only thing I wish I knew was if Sokka gets his sword and boomerang back!?!? I when we didn't find out!

The Order of the white Lotus was awesome! I wish they had more Uncle though.

The only other thing I want to know is: where is Zuko's mother? I really want them to tell us. I want the happy, heartwarming, ending like everyone else, but she needs to be found.

I wish they had more Iroh too. I mean its Sozin's comet, something that happens only every 70 years or something like that, and the only firebending you really see him do is blast the wall open. Of course that is a feat within itself, its like 500 feet thick, but after that you only really see him burn the Fire emblem off Ba-Sing-Se. I think they could have had an entire episode, or even two, for the White Lotus to retrieve Ba-Sing-Se. Because even with grand master benders and what not, the city is huge. There is no way it could only take like an hour to take it over. I mean you can see it from space! =)

I decided, after watching it again yesterday, that i did like the Azula/Zuko fight. It was shear power as what was said in the above post, but i think they could have done it better. I mean it was just blunt warfare. There were no special moves or any real strategy, just bombardments of fire.

And just a question really. Why didnt Azula just melt the chains that were wound around her. If you remember back to Iroh's capture, he heated the metal to burn his captors. But on the day of sozin's comet you would think she could easily melt the metal... And im not sure if i missed it, but were her feet bound too? Because i didnt see them bound and we all know that firebending can be used from the feet as well. I think the ending of that fight wasnt the best. I would have preferred if Katara had captured her in a giant water ball or stuck her to the wall with a giant ice thing.

RE: Pago

I think the reason with Azula and the chains, was that she was completely a wreck. I really don't think that she had the sheer willpower to go on anymore. I think that in a sense, she is still a child. . . a horribly evil child, but thats beside the point. She got everything she ever wanted in life, and she got it by controlling people with fear. She never really learned to grow up and become a real person. So when Mai and Ty Lee stood up to her, thats when she started to crack, and by the end of the fight, she had completely lost it and basically thrown a temper tantrum.

Re:Shio

Aang wasn't exactly a pushover throughout the series. He normally just let people think they were getting what they wanted when he knew there was a more peaceful way of doing things. A character development would have been him putting his own beliefs behind him for the sake of the rest of the world and killing the Fire Lord. He had never been presented with a task where he had to go against what he believed until he had to fight the Fire Lord. If that lionturtle hadn't come along he would have probable let the entire world down and lost the fight. He really was still the same old peaceful Aang he had been since the beginning of the show. Granted it was a very strong and sturdy character decision on Aang's part and I think that was the best way to do things in the final episode he still didn't really develop he just proved he was a tough cooky. Aang is the exeption really; he shouldn't have changed at all he had grown enough throughout the show, but still...lucky save by the lionturtle...lucky lucky lucky...

That's true.

Even though I liked the ending, I still would have preferred to see the Fire Lord get his just deserts.

Also, did anyone else see how fraken powerful Boomie is. He literally took back the whole city by himself, and he took down and entire statue of Ozai. Watching it, I was squealing like Bobby Hill.

I was happy for the soul reason that Bumi arrived. The funniest part about that was when he was talking about how 'everyone' else escaped. He beat a small fire nation army by himself. Given that none of them could use firebending, but still all by himself!

Azula was great to, she went a bit crazy. Especially the part where she was chained to the ground and began to breath fire from her mouth while flailing all over the place.

I also liked Avatar Aang. My favorite part about that was how he used that earthbending move when he turned a block of earth into a hundred earth bullets and blew up the forests. That was one of my favorite parts.

There was one thing I didn't like, and that was how Zuko asked Ozai about his mother. The way I saw it was that this was the last episodes. I just thought it was a bad idea to bring a new story line in..., but hey I don't know.

In regards to the introduction of the Zuko question, I think that the creators left it like that to spur the imagination of those few people in the fandom who like to write fan fics. I'm surprised by how many people are bothered by it, I wasn't even phased by it when nothing happened there. As I said before, I think it was left like that to just make us guess at what could happen.
