Boring, so boring... This renamed "New Ozai" was not her idea of an interesting place. Her parents loved it, savored the laborless life, the governing the boring prosperity of a Fire Nation noble in an Earth Kingdom city.It was enough to drive her insane, nothing to do, nothing to think about, even, other than memories. They stretched back into oblivion, with two or three exciting emotions sunk in a sea of dull.
Of course, with no one around near her age, and nothing to be responsible for, Mai did remember some things that were a bit... Interesting. Zuko, for example. The Fire Nation Prince may have been banished for three years, but Mai had nothing but fond memories of him- something that she couldn't say about anyone else. Maybe Azula's and Ty Lees taunts while they were at the academy had some truth to them, about her and Zuko, but Mai was too busy being bored while studying to remember much else. Instead, she sat, staring at the ceiling, wondering if the resistance was planning anything. Those Earth Kingdom rebels did add some spice to life, did they not?
Reaching for her right ponytail, which gleamed black in the afternoon sun, even indoors, she pulled at a small clip. At least, that was what it looked like. It was actually a weapon prototype, one that might be more dangerous than Mai's customary spring-loaded arrows and shruikans. Standing, Mai walked to the window, where the sun shone upon her pale gold eyes before falling to her red dress-type outfit.
Eternal noise streamed in through the window. Mail moved, birds chirped people talked and laughed, even this close to the governor's palace. The fifteen year old fire nation noblewoman focused on a small bird that circled overhead. With a loud THOCK, the bird plummetted from the sky, feather's streaming behind it. Blood gushed from a hole, drilled clean through its breast by an arrow, which even now clattered upon the roof of a nearby shop. The trajectory of the arrow could be followed backward, and one would she that it traced back to Mai's outstretched arm, which had extended out of the window. A rare smile came to Mai's face, though it quickly faded.
Don't think that Mai didn't love her family, she did, at heart. But that was really deep down. In reality, the only time she ever showed any emotion in reference to either her annoying brother, her foolish father, and her disgustingly optimistic father was the one time that Tom-Tom, her brother, got lost in the city. And even then, the only sign of emotion was a almost cracking voice. Mai, for the most part, never felt any emotion other than relentless boredom. And Mai was bored as she sat back down, sighing.
