((Just watched the episode with Haru in it on the Nick website. Think I did a lot better on this one, though I don't have any fighting in it. *sigh* I like fighting.))
The orange glow of the setting sun colored the whole rocky landscape a dimly light hue, bringing it's daily beauty into the sky as it nestled itself between two rocky hills as it made its way below them.
Haru looked out at the sun from the rocky cliff not far from his house. It was not long ago he'd spoken with Katara here. Everything had changed when she and the Avatar came, even Haru himself.
The lingering smell of his family's dinner was starting to fade, though the sweet smell still brought a slight smile to his face, despite he had eaten so much he felt like he was going to burst. His mother's cooking had gotten so much better since his father's return from the prison boat. Everything had.
Haru could still look back at himself and how foolish he was. He had thought all hope was lost, but it was right there, inside he and his people all along.
They had battled for a bit to retake their village, and finally reached a comprimise with the Fire Nation. In exchange for coal, the Fire Nation would leave their village untouched. Neither side was happy with the comprimise, but it was a peace nonetheless, though only temporary.
It was steadily growing darker, and Haru felt his eyes starting to grow heavy. Laying down on the ground, Haru looked up at the sky as he brushed the right strand of hair out from his face, putting it back on the dirt with the left strand and the rest of his long, black hair.
The earth beneath him still made him feel comfortable, even though Katara had taught him that a true Earthbender's strength lied in their courage. Courage had been a factor in their escape from that prison boat, but it had also been the earth they had gotten, namely coal.
He felt invincible. He had been working with his father nonstop since he had gotten back, and his Earthbending was increasing exponentially. He knew that he was still insignificant, but still...he felt so good.
He suddenly opened his drooping eyes wide, revealing quite a bit of whiteness around his dark green pupils. A town was a town, and if he stayed here, that's all the difference he could possibly make. There were others still like what he was. He couldn't let them keep living like that; he knew from experience that it was hell.
He rolled to his feet as the sun finally hid behind the rocks. His hands thrust directly in front of his hips as he earthbender all the dust off of his short green gi and yellow pants.
He turned around, now facing the east, and pointed two of his fingers out from both of his hands, and thrust them forward in several flashes towards the ground. Dust was knocked up all around, and by the time the dust cleared, Haru was gone.
The only thing left of him was found as the sun rose in the east. His father and mother would surely find it and understand. It was an arrow, pointed east, straight at the sun. To the Fire.
A boy of only fifeteen could not make a difference against such a huge force as the Fire Nation, yet Haru felt a strength inside him. He would face it with his head held high. There was no stopping him; he was an Earthbender.
