Appearance: If you saw this young woman on the street, you probably wouldn't take a second glance at her. The long dark brown hair, styled in the Water Tribe fashion, is quite dull in sheen, except when she hasn't had access to a source of water, and her hair gets oily. Dark blue eyes accented with green stare out shyly from her soft, tan face, and its warm, gentle curves. Thick braided hair loops swing from her forehead back into her simple bun. Two navy blue beads affix them in place. They frame a shy, oval face, with curved lips and a small nose.
Though her face blares "Water Tribe!" her body is quite androgynous, unless she is in the Northern Water Tribe, where she grew up. Smallish breasts are practically invisible under her heavy anorak, light blue with white fur trimmings, especially obvious on the shoulders and big hood. Two thin lines of dark gray cris-cross over her chest, the same shade as her bulky - yet warm - pants. A pair of mukluks complete the outfit. However, this is only what she wears at the Northern Tribe. Since she left, she has taken to wearing a much lighter kimono-style tunic and thin leggings. Worn gray boots are all she needs for footwear. The tunic itself is the same light blue as her anorak, though much thinner. It's tied near her waist with a navy blue sash, and trimmed with the same navy blue. Her leggings are dark gray.
Underneath her clothes, Suyami has developed a thin amount of muscle from her regular waterbending. She's short, and more on the thin side than stocky, so it's just a wiry layer on top of that natural skinniness.
History: Never knowing her mother, Suyami grew up with the Northern Water Tribe, though her mother was apparently from the Southern. She was passed from family to family in the prosperous tribe, as such, she grew shy and introverted. Eventually they learned she was a waterbender, and sent her to Yugoda to learn healing. Suyami always had trouble with the art - mending a simple scratch was hard for her. However, whenever the waterbending classes involved moving, building, or transformation of the water, she enjoyed it much more. Soon, she found herself spending more time building ice forts and ice houses than healing with the chi models Yugoda provided. She studied on how her ancestors constructed the great ice buildings that surrounded her daily life, and aspired to one day be a great architect like them.
This, unfortunately, due to its close nature with the nature of combative waterbending, drew the disapproving eye of the Chief. It was forbidden for a women to know the art of fighting with waterbending - forbidden. This eventually led to Suyami's departure from the tribe at 16.
Her next three years in the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom found her training herself in those same combative arts. Once she found out the similarities to the techniques used for architecture, she knew how to go about it. Three years later, she was winning most fights she got into - reluctantly. Her shy nature still plagued her, and coupled with a volatile nature, this did not make for the best fighter's personality.
Relationship-wise, she's only been in a few serious ones. Her moderately attractive looks and meek ways have won her only one man worth remembering; a short waterbending assassin named Noaki with whom she shared a long and deep relationship, ending when he disappeared one night and never came back. This stunted the poor sixteen year old's growth in matters of love; she still has yet to get over the love she shared with Noaki.
Personality: Shy, but angered easily and has great confidence in herself even though she does not show it. She is very competitive by nature, and loves to run and swim.
