Name:Matsuo “Lae” Takumi
Age: nineteen years old
[li]Bulky, slightly tall, and vaguely toned
[/li][li]Fiery brown hair, medium length and straight
[/li][li]Eyes of varying shades between hazel and black depending on the light[/li][/ul]History:
Matsuo, or "Lae" as he was nicknamed early in life for the first word that he ever said, was a member of the Northern Water Tribe until his family was sent out as emissaries when he was about six. Together he and his parents sailed south to the Earth Kingdom and intended to plead with King Bumi for an alliance. However, in those days the Fire Nation was still in force across the Earth Kingdom and trying to take over their lands. Lae's family was barely two days off their landing site on the northern coast of the continent when they were ambushed by rogue firebender scouts, and killed. Lae was saved only because he had run off to see a cliffside nearby. When he returned, he found that he had no family.
Little does Lae remember the next few weeks, but he does know that he was found and cared for by a kind earthbender named Kusari, about thirteen years older than him but who acted like a father figure toward Lae. Kusari had just begun training with a master earthbender named Oki in his hometown of Chisai Konoha, and he brought Lae there to live. As a waterbender, having an earthbending master around was nearly pointless, but Lae still participated in a few of the practices to see what it felt like. As a result Lae uses waterbending techniques that are very earthbending-influenced, and prefers sure and powerful motions to the usual fluid and constant motions of waterbending.
Three years ago, just after his sixteenth birthday, Kusari had been sent by Oki on a one-year spiritual journey in the mountains. One day at this point Oki woke with a start, found and woke up Lae, and told him to simply run. Frightened, Lae grabbed a few pieces of food and a small sack of clothes and ran out to the west of the village. After a week living in fear and worry, Lae dared to venture back to Chisai Konoha and found everything destroyed. Kusari had come back two days before and found the ruins, and watched Oki die. Three years later the destruction still haunts Lae but he has sworn to fight the Fire Nation as much as possible. For now, though, he is content to help his "father" rebuild their lost village...
