Name: Dadao Daito

Age: 32

Appearance: Dadao stands at six feet not including the two inch height gain from her stone getta sandals. Her black hair short enough not to require combing, only roughly running her fingers through her hair.

The most distinguishing feature of her face is the green tattoo of a three-headed rat viper on her left cheek. Her eyes are a dark green matching her tattoo.

A small glint of metal can be seen in a piercing in her left eyebrow. Three silver rings adorn each of her ears, larger ones in the lobes and growing smaller as they travel up and into the cartilage of her ears. When not operating outside of her headquarters Dadao wears heavy metal bracelets up to her elbows as a way to strengthen her arms despite how self-conscious she is about them.

Her arms and legs are visibly muscled which is a concern of hers. As such she either wears a long black cheongsam or happi over a sleeveless white shirt, both embroided with the same logo in bright green. The logo she is so proud of is that of a centipede coiled around the Earth Kingdom's symbol. This comes from her old division while serving in the Earth Nation military. Her more active attire consists of her happi and a pair of black hakama. Only in her idle time does she wear shoes. A pair of wooden getta sandals.

History: Dadao's parents used to joke that both her conception and birth were both criminal acts. She never cared to know the details of her parent's source of humor. When she was sold into the Rat Viper Triad as a child to pay off their debts she cared even less.
Marked with a tattoo of a green two-headed rat viper on her face Dadao was adopted into the world of organized crime.

The small gang that controlled barely a block of territory became her new family, and a much improved one at that. There she learned the ways of protection rackets, smuggling and illegal gambling. She soon decided that this family was a vast improvement over the two people who raised her for her first ten years.

Even in such a small gang rising to prominence was not an easy task for Dadao. She was used merely as a messenger and lookout due to her gender. No one raised much of a fuss when she left to join the army.

It was in the war that Dadao developed her skills with the sword, her earthbending ability and philosophy on killing. Killing was fine as long as there was something to be gained from it. She returned to Ba Sing Se a much more focused and ruthless young woman.

While exploring her extortion prospects in the upper ring Dadao discovered the 5-7-5 Society and an appreciation of haiku. Soon the victims of gang warfare were found with haiku pinned to their clothes. It served as a means of practice as well as a signature of her work.
Since the gang was always in need of a competent killer with a reputation as well as an earthbender Dadao gladly re-entered the Rat Viper Triad. She also entered the good graces of it's leader as his personal assassin. Despite being a woman, it was no surprise when Dadao took over leadership of the gang after the leader's passing. A third head was added to her rat viper tattoo marking her status as leader.

She found a kinship with a young Fire Nation lieutenant named Kugi Tang shortly after her rise to power. The love they shared was more for staying alive and maintaining the status quo rather than personal affection. As such any resistance information that came her way found it's way to the Fire Nation.

The one bit of sentiment within Dadao is for the massive sword given to her by her friend as a joke. The broad sword threatens to exceed her in height and is heavy enough to give even the large men in her gang trouble. A rumor in the gang persists that it was once used to fillet an elephant koi. The almost comically large Piandao-crafted sword soon became her trademark along with her poetry.

Once the Fire Nation took over Dadao took more of interest in the resistance for fear they would interfere with her one-block domain. She is currenly providing information on any resistance activity she knows of in exchange for being left alone to ply her trade.

Personality: Unlike many would-be criminal masterminds Dadao doesn't have any desire to spread her influence beyond her one stretch of territory. This doesn't make her any less protective of it, though.

Despite being extremely territorial Dadao has an even and somewhat jovial temperment. She sees her gangland underlings as little brothers and treats them accordingly by simultaneously protecting and picking on them.

Even though she is content with her job as gang boss she can be self-conscious about her more masculine qualities. People who openly accuse her of being the least bit manly usually end up disappearing.
She is sometimes prone to flattery and tries her best to guard against it. Her men have been instructed not to suck up.

The only love affair she had in her life was with the man who would later become her platonic friend Kugi Tang. Currently, she is feeling her age and wonders if she can find a nice man who won't interfere with her work. She tends to become infatuated with men who show a little kindness to her but loses interest trying to reconcile her work and her social life.

It's a source of pride that she will often do her own hits or "wetwork" as she calls it. She feels it keeps her humble and in shape.
Most of her actions stem from her sense of practicality. Murder and extortion are just tools to her. Morality doesn't enter into it.

Dadao tends to respond to situations with a subdued frustration but rarely gets angry, merely annoyed when things don't go her way. She believes in peace and prosperity is for those who take it. This has left her indifferent concerning the Fire Nation takeover of her hometown.
To this date she has not shown any interest in expanding her knowledge of earthbending and is happy being at an intermediate level.
