Standing Six foot two and weighing around two hundred and twenty pounds, Gau usually would wear a brown leather vest, with it tied in the center to keep the vest from flapping about. Gau would also wear brown cotton pants that frayed at the ankles. Nothing is ever worn on his feet. Deeply tanned from his years in the sun, Gau also wore his dark brown hair in a topknot. Deep brown eyes and full beard that matched the color of his hair. A special Item that Gau wears with pride is a small headband made of cotton that bears the symbol of the Earth Kingdom.

Gau was born into a small farming village south of Ba Sing Se. Gau's father was a simple farmer, who happend to end up marrying a earthbender.


Child hood years: Growing up in the Earth Kingdom, Gau quickly gained much pride in being apart of the Earth Kingdom. Like most children Gau played with rocks and ran in the forests after animals. The children growing up in gau's village invented a game, were everyone stands in front of a open field and throws rocks at a standing rock. They called it stone touch. One person would mark a part of the rock with a white powder and everyone had to try and hit that mark. Most of the kids could not even throw the pebbles all the way to the rock, while Gau managed it easily. He was not a large kid or a very very strong one, but no one could figure out how he was doing, even Gau. A few of the kids joked that he was a Earthbender. Gau merely laughed and continued on playing the game.


Teenage years: Gau one day learned he was a earth bender. During a game of stone touch, he was waiting for his turn tossing up a pebble up and down in his hand and out of curiousness tried to make it float in his hand. At first nothing happend, and Gau felt silly for even thinking he was a Earth Bender. When he tried it again though, the stone started to roll around in his hand and he dropped the stone in shock and surprise. For a few years Gau played around with his new found ability, Making rocks roll around peoples feet and spinning them on peoples heads, but it was all he could manage to do.

When Gau turned eighteen he left his village behind for ba Sing Se to join the army and to learn earth Bending and to defend the home he loves from the Fire nation.

Adult and Army life: For over a year Gau trained and trained in Earth Bending, every day he improved little by little, till the instructors considered him ready to defend. Luckily enough Gau was stationed in Ba Sing Se for having a great skill in defense using Earth Bending. Some of his fellow Earth Benders even nicknamed him "Stone Wall gau". He got the name during a training exercise with a few fellow earth benders, who all threw a large rock at him at once. Gau had called up a large wall of earth that was a foot thick and seven feet in length and six feet high. Gau was amazed he could do it,but had told them that he takes care of the Earth under his feet and it in turn takes care of him. Within the last year, rumors of the return of the Avatar had started around Ba Sing Se, and a few travellers claiming to see the avatar and that he was fighting the Fire Nation single handedly. If Gau is lucky enough, He will get to at least see the Avatar.

Gau is a very proud man. To him, being apart of the earth kingdom and being a Earthbender, has given him a deep sense of pride. Gau also loves the earth for he was lucky enough to be given the gift he has. Before Gau joined the army, he use to smile every day, but after his training, Gau became very serious, he had learned just how much damage the FIre Nation has caused and has vowed to protect his home from them. Gau was asked once why he does not smile anymore, he told them that until this war is over, he won't smile because war is nothing to smile at. There have been times people place bets to try and make him smile and laugh, but so far everyone has failed, and only to himself, will Gau enjoy their attempts.
