Note: I did not create the character of Quan-Li. An old member who has long since left created him. I am re-creating the profile from scratch, and he gave me permission to play him when he left the site.

Name: Quan-Li
Age: 26, Almost 27

Appearance: Quan-Li is a tall man, standing at 6'3". He has broad shoulders and a long, lean physique. He also has thick muscles from all his years training as an Earthbender. Quan-Li is a fairly good-looking guy, but his hands are rough and mildly calloused from all the time growing up that he had to do manual labor that he couldn’t do with his Earthbending. He also has strong features that match his strong physique. Quan-Li’s hair is a dark brown that goes down to his shoulders that he usually keeps down. His eyes are a deep, startling green, while his skin has a nice tan to it. He usually wears the normal, sleeveless green and brown attire of the Earth Kingdom.

History:Quan-Li was born to a young couple in a small town in the Earth Kingdom. Both of his parents were Earthbenders. They did not have much money, but they cared greatly for their young son. The first few years of Quan-Li’s life were filled with love and happiness; the young parents did everything they could to provide for their child. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the small child when Quan-Li was about five. Firebenders attacked the village, and his parents happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one truly knew why, and Quan-Li was too young really to remember. They took his parents from him, leaving the young five-year-old an orphan.

He was adopted by another couple that happened to be passing through soon after. He was taken to the neighboring village. It was not easy to adjust for the young boy, for he missed his real parents. Shortly after, he discovered that he was an Earthbender after accidentally throwing a small rock at his adoptive father’s head. As a five-year-old, he was simply angered when he was told no. Luckily, his adoptive father was an Earthbender, and took it upon himself to train his new son in the ways of Earthbending. The young boy took it, or as well as any five-year-old would.

Despite the tragedy early on his in his life, the rest of his life growing up went well. It was hard, for he was often called on to do manual labor and help his parents around the yard and house. He couldn’t complain too much. They were the only parents he knew, though he did remember that Firebenders had taken his real parents from him, it grew in him a hatred of loyal Firebenders. Quan-Li never had any serious relationships growing up, because his parents had taught him a respect for women and he was waiting for “the right woman”, but she had simply not come along yet. Therefore, Quan-Li trained and worked when one day, tragedy again struck the Earthbender.

A group of bandits happened to pass through the small town where they lived in. His parents, trying to do the right thing and get the bandits to leave, ended up aggravating them more. The bandits killed both of his parents. Now, Quan-Li had lost both of his parents. Unfortunately, they left town before Quan-Li could avenge the deaths of his adoptive parents. With nothing left to hold him to the town, the Earthbender took what money there was left, and left, wandering, in search of an Earthbending Master to finish the training that his adoptive father had started. It was this wandering that led him to Kyoshi Island, where, in one day, his life would change forever.

Update from RP:

On Kyoshi Island, he met five people that would have a strong influence on his life from that point on. He happened upon Karena, defending Avatar Aang from Prince Zuko. Then, Halaku showed up – a Bender Hunter, and he engaged Zuko in a fight. Quan-Li took the distraction and got Karena and Aang out of there, as well as Sokka and Katara. The group fled to the mainland, where they were tracked by not only Halaku’s, but Kanea as well. Halaku they captured and put his custody, where he heard Karena’s entire story, including her pregnancy by Zuko. The story was drawn out of her by another banished Firebender named Kanea, who Quan-Li fell head over heels with.

The two immediately got into a relationship, and Quan-Li declared his love for her, despite the warnings of his new friends, who told him that she was playing him. After morning came, they group left, and they let Halaku go on his way. They would meet him again, of course. A few weeks before she was to give birth, a fight ensued outside of Omashu. Quan-Li watched as Karena tried hard to deal with her feelings for Zuko, as well his child, which she carried. As Karena was giving birth, Quan-Li talked with King Bumi, who agreed to marry him and Kanea, and pronounced Quan-Li a Master. However, the marriage was not to be, because Karena left the city with Aang, and did not return. Worried, the group went to find her, and found out that Zuko was also missing. The group was already freed, but with the group of Halaku and his gang, they got them away. Zuko did not seem to be in a hurry to leave his fiancée though.

They made their way back to Omashu, and alerted everyone that the Fire Nation was coming. They received some money from Karena’s midwife, and left, including Zuko and Iroh. Zuko had not left Karena’s side, something she was not going to argue with. On their way to Gaoling, they got into another fight with Halaku and his gang, only this time Azula and company showed up. A fight ensued, and Karena was shot with two arrows in the back while fighting when she shouldn’t have been, and collapsed. They made it to Gaoling, and there Iroh, Zuko, Karena, and baby Nikuro would stay, going under assumed names, while the Avatar and the rest went to Ba Sing Se. By chance, they managed to arrive in a village where Zuko, Iroh, and Karena were.

The group together traveled back to Ba Sing Se, where they were eventually captured in a trap by Zuko's sister, Azula. The Princess then took her nephew out from his mother's arms, saying he should be raised in the Fire Nation, much to the horror of his mother and father. After a battle, they made it out of the city, with Toph's help, who took pity on them after seeing Azula take Zuko and Karena's baby. Unfortunately, Aang was badly injured in the last attack, and lay on his deathbed. The group moved to a small village to recuperate, their spirits smashed. Karena and Zuko's relationship was now shattered, as both blamed themselves. Zuko helped her when she needed, but with their son being taken, things were not good. The entire group's spirit was shot, all wondering if they could have done more with Nikuro being taken and Katara tending to Aang, who was fighting for his life. Kanea also came clean and told him that she had been using him when they first met, but now, she truly loved him.

Personality:Quan-Li is as strong and stubborn as the Earth he controls. Once he has an idea in his head, it will take more than the proverbial slap in the face to get him to see something else. While Quan-Li can be fiercely protective and loyal to those he has sworn himself to and/or cares about, that can also be his downfall. Quan-Li can sometimes be more concerned about others’ well-being than his own. Once you have made an enemy of him, it will not be easy to get the Earthbender to change his mind. Quan-Li will not back down from a fight that he feels is just, and will stand up for what he thinks his right. However, his pride will not allow to him to admit easily when he is wrong. Also, it does not always take much to set off his temper – a snide comment or an insult, or even simply disagreeing with something he feels strongly about, and he will not hesitate to snap at you.
